98% Certain Of Our 1St Pick In The 2012 Draft

The Browns Board

  • The more I look at it I hate the 4th pick this year. I have a really bad feeling the RAMS will trade down to the dolphins or Redskins and still get Martin or Rieff with the 6 or 8th pick no brainier. So, that means someone traded up for Griffin or Blackmon. So, Luck is gone, RG3 is gone leaving Blackmon and Maybe Trent for a prize for another team. I don't think anyone is going to jump for Blackmon, maybe K.C. wants Trent but I think they can wait a bit longer (what is the possibility of us swapping Bowe for our 4th pick, K.C. will lose him anyway...yes we need to negotiate but since he is our player now we only have to give 10% more than the highest bidder) We, give K.C. our 4th We get their 11th plus Bowe??

Ok, so continuing Vikes have the pick now? They almost have to pick Blackmon because he is not THAT GREAT that a team is going to jump for him...and I don't see anyone at 10 or below that needs a WR THAT bad. So, they pick him up. Ok, so now it is our pick Luck, RG3, Blackmon gone... Do we take Kalil? We almost have to but I like J. Martin better. We may go for Trent, which is stupid since we can't open holes for them and he isn't Doug Martin who can make his own holes... or do we trade to someone that wants Trent? Again, I only see K.C. maybe wanting the pick...so, lets say they do trade up...we then get the 11th pick and maybe a 3rd this year and next (that's all it's really worth at that point) Ok, so the problem is now this... you still have Kalil, J. Martin and Reiff on the board and you still have the Rams, Miami and Buffalo that need OT help here...so, with the 11th pick we get nothing that we needed...so, that means we don't trade away the pick!

So, dollars to doughnut holes we are either picking J. Martin or Kalil with the 4th pick (we will see during the combines, who really is better)

Cleveland Browns pick Matt Kalil with the 4th pick of the 2012 draft

August 20th, 2015...Cleveland browns waive Matt Kalil their #4 pick of the 2012 draft

  • It is an interesting theory. I can see our GM trading down for more picks than picking 4th which would really blow open who we might pick.

  • Luck is gone to Indy, that is a no brainer. I don't see St Louis or Minnesota trading down, they both need either Blackmon or Kalil too much to risk losing them. I think RG3 will be there for us if we go after him.

  • Richardson has SAID HE WILL STAY IN SCHOOL and hasn't let it be known that he changed his mind.

Dang. Give him up til he declares for the draft already.

And the need for Richardson could depend on what happens with Hillis. The Browns do need a scatback. A Darren Sproles type.

There are 2 kids from Florida, Jeff Demps and Chris Rainey. Both short, both light, both very speedy. Or there is LaMichael James of oragun.

Wouldnt you consider Armond Smith that type of speedy scat back, sure he showed a couple of fumbles in pre season games, but also burst a 80 yd touchdown run aslo. and he was signed back onto contract right after the season so Front office still must like what they have seen in him.

  • Funny thing is i said last Off Season we need to sign Darren Sproles and i got blasted for it, o no hes not an everydown back he will get hurt etc... the kid is extremely underrated until maybe now.....

I Would really like this pick. In a league that has gone pass happy, I would love for Joe Haden to be my number two corner with Ward over the top. Keep building that D. Three more starters on the defense and it will follow a trend only seen in the AFC North. Build the Defense young and you will always have a chance in the postseason with a so-so offense.

  • Drafting a Right Tackle at 4 would not be smart. If we draft one with our 2nd 1st or our 2nd rounder then I would have no problem.

You do NOT take a RT with the 4th pick in the draft. It's never been done. 4th is too high to take Martin.

EDIT: I'll have to proclaim my ignorance about Martin. ANOTHER Left Tackle? Please, please, PLEASE learn some football before you start making propositions like that.

It's crazy talk to think you can draft a stud LT (we already have one in Joe Thomas) and switch the guy over to the other side to solidify the line. The demands of the position are different- and guys wind up playing RT because they're not GOOD enough to play LT, exhibit "A" would be Robert Gallery, who got drafted high as a LT, couldn't cut the mustard there, and got switched to the other side.

One RT made the All-Pro team, Vollmer from the Patriots. Where was he drafted? 58th, second round. I rest my case.

I can guarantee you if Blackmon and RG III are off the board, the Browns will either try and trade down (and don't forget to do that you need someone who wants to trade up) or take BPA on defense. Like a DE, or LB, which are far more valuable to a team than RT.

I really think they need to give that kid a shot. Super fast and can break one at any moment, I'm not sure how he catches the ball though.

  • I think we are either going after Flynn, but more likely going to draft Ryan Tannehill....at #4.

    Yep...at #4

Right now he projects as a late first rounder, but after the all-star games, combines, etc., I believe his stock is going to go up a great deal.

It might be a bit of a reach at #4, but we can't think of trading down as Miami would be all over him.

I doubt anybody will trade up to #3, so Ryan Tannehill is the pick.

Tannehill is 6'2, fairly accurate with an average arm.

We already have one of those.

Sensing you don't like Griffin, lets take him out of the question... Why on earth would you spend a #4 on this kid instead of getting Colt weapons and giving him a third year?

    Ryan Tannehil????

    Zombo

+1. We can't do a reach @ #4, for the Browns to progress next year, they have to hit a home run with that pick. Looking at Gip's list of All-Time picks at #4 there have been a ton of great players taken there. Get Colt a real wr (Blackmon, hopefully) and fix the right side of the o-line, resign Hillis.

And Z, you really need to explain why on earth you'd want Manning here as a short term band aid.

  • dude...you need to share your dope dealer. youre fucking insane mang!

  • I normally agree with you Zombo, but signing Manning would bethe worst decision since moving to Baltimore.

Signing a mid 30's QB who just had surgery to fuse his neck bones together when we are trying to build a foundation?

It would set this franchise back another 5 years.

Manning gets hurt in week 3 and then were right back where we started.

  • Ryan Tannehill is actually 6'4" and has a fairly decent arm, but no way he is taken at #4. Plus they are reporting he sustained a "significant foot injury" this last week. What that injury is, nobody is saying.

  • Peyton Manning is not coming to the Browns.
