So what you're saying is that the president will be re elected because of the stockholm syndrome?
But you are probably right. The big money people at the top that your guys complain so much about have been well taken care of and will funnel billions to his campaign.
If we increase the percentage of citizens who don't contribute at all, 8 and a half percent unemployment and 2 percent growth isn't a problem at all. At least not when it comes to their vote.
And it's always fun to assassinate some asshole from the third world.
Of course had that been the previous administration you'd be calling for war crime trials.
And after all your complaining, how much goodwill do you think thats bought us?
And again what do we get from afghanistan?
Libya? We did next to nothing in the eyes of the world and Khaddafi Wasn't a threat to us or anyone else .
And if there is a future profit to be ripped from the oil reserves then it will go to the french.
And it's not like the new regime will install a jeffersonian democracy.
Anyway you've always got that 12 to 13 percent of the population that are going to vote for him no matter what.
But I believe that if your loyalties don't necessarily rest with the u s then it would be easy to root for the first post american president.

And Sev, those December numbers were better than expected, but this hardly means the economy is out of the woods, or that the 200,000 number is even good. It barely keeps up with population growth. It's just better than where we've been, and I hope it continues, but there are lots of headwinds in the economy's face, most notably in Europe.
The only consolation is that the United States is coming out of the worldwide downturn in much better shape than much of the rest of the world. We still have short term demand problems, long term problems with structural deficits and our aging population, and a growing education and income gap. Lots to do. It's not time for a victory dance because the economy created 200,000 jobs last month.

And I will bet that you believe we need another stimulus package in order to buy more votes in November.

Um, are you okay?
Just having a laugh at the victory lap.
Unfortunately the bar has been set pretty low. 8.4 looks pretty good....

That wasn't a laugh. It was pure crankery. T could have typed that. Seriously.
Don't go there, man. You can sense your drift lately. Resist the temptation.

Well I can't stipulate as to the purity, but it might be a little crankarious.
there is a fine line between crank and truth........

Not really.
One of the hallmarks of a true crank is the way they assume the most sinister motives on the other side, ignore the actual reality, and use what might be a shred of truth (or not) to over-simplify complex issues. Thus, on the left, the Iraq War was fought to enrich Bush's friends, or to steal all the oil. On the right, Obama wanted a stimulus plan to buy votes and create more socialism.
This is where you're living more and more these days.
-
But Sev is right that Romney's whole narrative is that Obama is an anti-enterprise socialist (or worse) who has ruined the economy, so if we see continued improvements it cuts into that narrative somewhat. But I don't know anyone who thinks we're going to have widespread improvement by November. We're probably mired here for a few more years.

wow!
Now it's my turn to be shocked, shocked I say, by the notion that there is partisanship in politics!
Maybe you think it's a more accurate to repeat driving the car into the ditch and repeating the words middle class over and over and over and over... Anyway of course if I were chairman of the RNC that would be my strategy.
Obama let you believe he could make it all better and he didn't. Your side reaped the benefits of a crash in the economy. Unfortunately everyone miss judged the duration of this downturn and it looks like you guys might be stuck out in the cold this time.
I understand if you're the party out of power here and must drag down the other side.
And it's going to get worse bud.

I didn't believe Obama could make it all better. Again, stop speaking for me. You're wrong about what I think and believe about 98% of the time.
And there's more to a presidential election than the economy. So you can stop pretending that all that matters is what the unemployment rate is when November rolls around.
Remember: I don't think Obama's going to lose. He could, but I don't think Romney has what it takes to beat him. He's not someone people get enthusiastic about. Of course, people will be far less enthusiastic about Obama than in 2008, but I still think Americans will prefer him to Romney and a Republican presidency.
There's a reason Obama's been so quiet lately, after all. Because there's nothing better for them than when the Republicans get together and tell people what they think.
-
I'm not claiming I know what you think.
I'm stating some obvious facts from the campaign that your party has been running for the last few months or years.
Remember how you enjoyed taking me to task because someone wasn't sure why Obama refused to show his birth certificate?
I'd say that the president and his surrogates over sold his magic powers.
And I don't think his defeat is a shoo in by any means.
I also think that 90 percent of his supporters are focused on the class warfare aspect of the campaign.
If you tell me that you are not, then great.
But still heck, if you were head of the RNC how would you handle the campaign?
And no kidding, the president stays out of the spotlight wall the republicans debate each other.
You don't have to be a genius to figure out that strategy.
What do you personally change about it either campaign if you were in charge?
WSS
-
More "class warfare." Let's not do that.
-

More "class warfare." Let's not do that.
So by that answer I assume you mean there's nothing about either campaign that you would do differently if you were in charge.
Check.

Sure I would. But what does it matter?
You can also assume that I have a job and it takes up about 12 hours of my day.

I see that you are having more delusional thoughts from fantasy island. In your own words you say "that we fought a war under Bush in Iraq to steal all of the oil".
If so then why is the price of oil over $100.00 a barrell? Why is it we do not have cheap energy? Why is it all of the left wing regulations and policies have hand cuffed our businesses and made it harder for them to perform or create jobs and our economy other than Wall St. Bankers are in the tank and living it out one day at a time?
