Barack Obama's campaign has approached Illinois Rep. Rahm Emanuel about possibly serving as White House chief of staff, officials said Thursday as the marathon presidential race entered its final, frenzied stretch with a Democratic tilt.
Emanuel is a veteran of President Clinton's White House, and has made a rapid ascent of the House leadership ladder since his election to Congress. He was chairman of the Democratic campaign committee two years ago when the party won a majority for the first time in more than a decade, and he cemented his reputation as a prodigious fundraiser and strong-willed political strategist.
Emanuel is interesting -- but the first thought that came to mind when I saw word today that Obama had approached him on the role was "Dick Cheney." Cheney was a Member of the House of Representatives. . .and a Chief of Staff. And both Cheney and Emanuel are addicted to power.
And this anecdote is priceless:Will Rahm Emanuel help Obama create a more transparent and accountable White House -- or will he propogate secrecy? Will Rahm Emanuel work to disown and give back many of the usurped powers that the White House tried to secure for itself at the expense of the legislature and judiciary -- or will he try to maintain many of the monarchial instruments Bush and Cheney put in place?
I don't know the answer actually. I hope Rahm will realize that he's going to have to see a roll back of White House power for Obama to succeed in the eyes of those who support him and sent him to the world's top job. We'll see.
It's a beautiful Saturday afternoon in October, and, as Republican Representative Chris Shays drives between churches in his affluent Connecticut district, he is talking about the possibility of being knifed. "Rahm Emanuel--if I got a knife, it would be in my belly," he says, referring to the combative head of the Democratic Caucus. "With Nancy," he continues, alluding to the House speaker, "it would be in my back." He then goes on to tell a story about an encounter that took place two years ago at the House gym. At the time, Emanuel was head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), which was targeting Shays--a Rockefeller Republican who represents a Democratic district--for defeat. In the gym's locker room, Shays approached Emanuel and said he was "really disappointed" that, with so many races to choose from, the DCCC had chosen to target him. Emanuel, Shays recalls, "put his hands on both shoulders, looked at me square in the eyes, and said, 'Look, with all due respect, from one friend to another, we're going to spend a fucking three million dollars to defeat you.' That was his words. Verbatim."

Well, not to get all rational here but remember the Hitler plan as it is in basic Fascism, is to find a group to demonize.
Who they are isn't as important as finding one that resonates with the majority who feel they have been cheated in life's lottery.
It works in times of ecomic downturn real or inmagined and the Jews just happened to fill that need in an already anti Semitic society. He also massacred plenty of others and may he burn in hell for eternity and beyond,
But:
It's a tool Osama uses as well using "the West" as his bogeyman.
