Browns Looking To Re-Sign Peyton Hillis

  • again....why waste another year? you dont think 22 starts qualifies as a full year?

what percentage of players do you think get a full 16 game season in any given year?

i dont really need any more games from colt to prove to me what he has. it is possibly to evaluate a QB on other metrics other than stats. in fact, most every team has these type of metrics. stats are more for fans.....you dont really think a coach looks at colts stat line and bases any decisions off that, do ya? remember, a dropped pass is still an incomplete. a completion can also be a poorly thrown ball.

this is a main reason why i avoid making stat based arguments. stats can mean anything you desire so long as you choose your sample data correctly.

blackmon at 4 is a reach....as are most of those that will be available.

perhaps you didn't notice, but blackmons stock is slipping. as it should...a smallish slow possession receiver thats barely ever faced man coverage isn't a lock to go top 5.

Barely ever face man coverage? Your kidding right? Your talking about the best WR in college football this past year and your really going to say he never faced man coverage? Hell he would've killed for man coverage. I know y'all don't have much respect for Big 12 defenses but they are smart enough to realize you attempt to cover the most potent weapon in college football. I assume you also believe every defense in the Big 12 didn't even attempt to put a spy on RG3 because they don't know what a spy was. C'mon man that's quite possibly the dumbest thing I've ever read on this board.

do me a favor....try gaining some information on the subject if your gonna bust balls, cause i dont even watch college football, yet seem to know a bit more than you.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- Justin Blackmon did everything but salivate and suit up Thursday when he was told that Stanford defenders spoke of playing him man-to-man in the Fiesta Bowl. "Thats the best thing out there: one-on-one matchups," Blackmon said. See man. See man burned. See man turn and chase. Teams seldom challenge Blackmon that way. Its been slim to very slim, but I like it every time it happens," he said. "You are on your little island. Its whoever wants it more and whoever wants to go get it." Blackmon has been the king of the island the two years, although he is more often bracketed by zone defenses than permitted to work against single coverage. His numbers overwhelm, even given the fact that Oklahoma States spread offense caters to the passing game and he has a gifted quarterback in Brandon Weeden making the throws.

  • Colt hasn't had ONE start with a legit RT, and a couple of quick, fast, get open fast wr's.

Baloney on thinkin that a new qb will solve those problems.

  • Have you watched him play? Ever? Im from Oklahoma so I've seen every single one of his games. He has been the focal point of every defense he has played the past two years. With that in mind every defense is going to do everything they possibly can to shut him down including zone coverage, man coverage, double teams, you name it, these defenses have tried it and yet he continued to put up huge numbers. In 2010 defenses had to account for Kendall Hunter (now with the 49ers) but in 2011 Blackmon was without a doubt Oklahoma State's biggest threat. OSU's running game in 2011, while still good, was no where near the level it has been since Gundy came to town. So with the running game not as good as in years past, and every defense knowing what Blackmon was capable of he still caught 121 passes (next closest on team was 71) for 1522 yards (next closest 715 yards) and 18 TD's (next closest 4). Honestly I'll be surprised if he even makes it to the 4 spot. Unless the Rams trade out of the 2 spot they will take him. He is head and shoulders above every other WR in this years class and barring injury he will become a big time playermaker in the NFL.

And how did he look against Stanford? Why don't you check out his stats for that game. If you don't watch college ball you probably shouldn't talk about it. Are you going to give people stock advice if you don't pay attention to the stock market?

Why don't you go ahead and run along

  • u wanna pay him $8mil?

    @choco said:

Forgot we don't have the money to do that.

  • How can someone say we shouldn't take a guy when they don't even watch college football? Dude, you shouldn't even comment on anything draft related. I agree with Taco, run along little boy

  • im tired of everyone thinking rg3 is our savior hes going to come here and wont have anyone to throw to either and you guys on rg3s nuts will be saying the same thing about him in 2 years when his stats look bad for two years and we dont get to the playoffs cuz were turning it over again

  • i would rather have blackmon and Ryan Tannehill or blackmon and zach brown

  • wow. a thread about re-signing hillis turns into a RGlll thread. what a bunch of flamers.

  • exactly

  • I remember a certain WR by the name of Crabtree that was supposed to be the schnizzle and really I don't see the guy stacking TD's. He had 4 this year. Hype does not equal TD's. Of course the argument could be said that he has Alex Smith for a Qb... But still, Crabtree is not producing based on his draft position.

I mean, he clearly made the point he was trying to make.

He said Blackmon faces more zone coverage than man-to-man, which is out of respect for his abilities, and then backed it up.

I don't understand what the conflict is.

Blackmon had probably his best game against Stanford, who dared to face him in man coverage. Then again, Stanford is also ranked 95th in pass defense, giving up over 250 yards per game through the air.

Nobody is denying Blackmon's skill. He's a great player and will go top 5, and surely have a solid career.

Personally, I believe Alshon Jeffery has much higher potential than Blackmon, seeing as the quality of defenses he faced week in and out and because of his physicality. But Blackmon is more of a sure thing. Alshon Jeffery could be Calvin Johnson-esque, or he could make no impact whatsoever. Blackmon will never be Calvin Johnson, but he's not going to fade away, either.

  • So-o-o-o-o meanwhile back at the topic...

    What is Hillis worth?

How long of a contract do you give him?

    How much guaranteed money?

  • ROFLMAO...

  • I still say re-sign Hillis and draft Richardson... listen to yourselves

"We're set at RB if we resign Hillis..." really?

Hillis missed half of the season

Hardesty is consistently injured and hasn't performed all that well when healthy

Jackson missed all of last year

Oh but wait... Obaganayayanaa............ that's our answer?????

    Newsflash**

Luck and Blackmon will probably be gone by our pick. Unless you are sold on RGIII, there is nobody else worth taking other than Richardson. We NEED NEED NEED the best offensive weapon we can get. Passing on this kid would be stupid, especially if your argument is that we are "set at RB"

    Give me a break...

lmao...cause obviously spending time watching it has made you and taco experts? which is really the point.....

i use the same criteria to evaluate college players. you geniuses that think watching every game makes you know more, i will simply refer you to all your repeated gushings and man-love for particular guys that you like for reasons you cant explain other than "his stats are ridiculous" or he's just a beast on the field". you can say blackmon is the best....but what does that even mean? see, youre not smart enough to realize that most stats does not ALWAYS mean best player.

i watch college football dipshit....i dont worship it or plan my day around it. cause frankly, you cant learn much watching future NFL players beat up on scrubs.

I believe that the Browns do need a RB...a fast scatback, Eric Metcalf type perhaps.

What I am not sure is if Richardson gives us anything much different than a healthy Payton Hillis gives us.
