Well, they aren't "top hat" to you... and you are extrapolating that to all of America, which isn't true. I don't like Green Day that much, not my style of music (only "punk" I've ever listened to was my very first CD, Blink 182) but I know who they are.
Every time they try to gear a show to us young people though something goes wrong... so that's not a good sign.

every halftime show i've ever seen has sucked big time except the who. they actually played dead on and live unlike every little hip hop rap shite that lip syncs their live shows and these flippin gullible fans go to see them pose on stage with background music (including vocal tracks) and call it a concert. hey junior just cuz the guy has a live mic doesn't mean he's not singing along with and overtop his own vocals that he did in-studio. just cuz the guy can go yo yo let's hear some noise doesn't mean the whole thing is fake.
green day WAS punk before they turned soft and commercial.blink 182 punk? laughable. try the stooges, ramones, the voidoids, television and cleveland's own the electric eels and my fave the stranglers out of england besides obviously the clash and the sex pistols.
anyways back to this year's show. i don't know about you but i'd still frak the shart outta that MILF.
