If your three favorite sports teams are The Browns, the Cavs and the Indians, and you remember the Browns 1964 championship, you have now sat through 137 seasons of sports without a title. (You can add the Barons and Crusaders if you like)

I was born in '64, I stopped being an Indians diehard in the late 70's, but I've been through every single Cavs season and every Browns season since I have memories ... 1968.

    That's a lot of waiting.

I don't even know what it's like to be THAT team. The team the NY Giants are right now.

    I'm guessing it's good.

If there's justice in the world, and sometimes there is, The Browns, Cavs and Indians will all win in the same year. 2014 when I turn 50? I'll take that.

Well, recall how close some of the teams at the tail end of that list came to winning and moving up the list. Start with the Indians in 1997 when they had the lead in the 9th inning of the 7th game of the WS and blew it. Look at The Rangers last year....twice withing one strike of winning the WS. Look at the AZ Cardinals...lost the SB on a last minute TD. The Titans came one yard short. The Bills miss a FG wide right. Think about it, there may be any number of teams besides the Cubs that one day will go more than 100 years without a title. I won't be around, but it could happen. I did see the Browns win in 1964. And they were there again in 1965. So it didn't seem that big of a deal. At that time I just assumed they would be in position to win again any number of times. Is it any wonder that guys like Ghoolie go irrational at times? Who can blame him?

But look at the spoiled Boston fans. Every one of their 4 teams have won a title in the last decade, some multiple titles. And now, after Sunday I hear some rumors that the fans are down on Tom Brady and Wes Welker et al. What a bunch of spoiled little bitches. Now there is a city that deserves to go another 40 years without a title.

  • I was born in 1963, the year Modell fired Paul Brown. Sometimes I wonder if I'm "The Omen." It's really hard to fathom that ONE stupid move has affected our Browns all these years. Certainly, we're overdue for some fortune around here.

Can you also imagine what it's like to be a San Diego Charger fan? You had one of the best QBs ever in Dan Fouts, but no defense at that time. Then years later, you have Marty take them to 14-2, blow it....then get fired; then you put faith in Rivers over Brees (and Norv Turner). I don't care for the Chargers, but I'm putting it out there because we aren't the only franchise to be a bit "snakebit."

Hey UnShurmer, Holmgren, & Heckert....3 things- stop the run, run the ball, & get after the opposing QB- it's THAT simple.

Ditto... and some rookie HC named Collier took us there. Even when the irreplaceable Jim Brown suddenly "retired" ... up popped Leroy Kelly.

We seemed destined for eternal gridiron greatness.

When exactly did the wheels come off? Maybe as long ago as trading Warfield in 1970 for the Phipps pick?

I was a bit late to be 'round for the '48 tribe... Helluva a run in the 90's that left me feeling like a Bills fan...

The Cavvies might have done it in the 90's had Daugherty's back held up... or in the '00's if we hadn't decided to let a player run the team...

    When Modell fired Paul Brown

The Cavvies might have done it in the 90's had Daugherty's back held up... or...

if Rick Mahorn didn't cheap-shot Mark Price at mid court...but it was ok, they were the Bad Boys, right?

  • Forgot about Mahorn...

But for the Browns it was not as early as '63. We won immediately after Brown's firing. He had become "stale" from both philosophical and social standpoints. Whereas Collier was both an innovator and a "players coach".
