If Pioli is taking his time and considering his options (as he should), and McKay won't interview while the Falcons are still alive (as he shouldn't), then should he just take a vacation until someone gives him an answer? Let's say that he's really impressed with Mangini and McDaniels. Should he wait until Mangini gets a job somewhere else? What happens if Pioli decides to take the Kansas City job (which is a pretty plum job--loyal fan base, weak division, and a track record of keeping the GM around so long as you make the playoffs once every decade) and brings McDaniels with him, and McKay decides to stick around in Atlanta? So now we're sometime in the middle of the offseason with no inkling about who the GM will be, and taking a wait-and-see approach to the head coaching job.
Besides, hiring a head coach first does not necessarily mean a mismatch. Unless you're giving the GM absolute power, you can certainly make that part of the interview process--here's the guy who's going to coach the team, here's the philosophy that we're going to employ, how are you going to make it work? A team does need a unifying philosophy, but that doesn't have to come from the front office.

What matters most for a competitive team is W and L's ............and the QB performance in making those W's ...........ND won three games behind Quinn against big time opposition and never scored twenty points in any of those wins............so Quinn was no factor in winning those games
QB's job put points on the board when needed............Quinn failed..............does that translate............who knows
Fact is he did nothing in college to WIN big games and has done nothing in the PRO's to win any games....................

I do Rich insiders............I thought in college Joe Montana was a stud........no one else did he went low in the draft but what he did in college was always make plays when ND needed them. I saw the same stuff in Rivers and Ben in college............that is why I wanted them. I saw Quinn suck huge in college against big time opposition not a good sign. Like I said he was pathetic against LSU. He got all his numbers the year before against OSU after ND got blown out and Tressel went prevent defense. Yeah the numbers and stats you are so fond of came against Army and Navy and all those other shill teams ND plays so those stats are skewed.
When he actually does something in the Pros I will be the first to accolade him. He played well in that first start this year so I give him that. So far he has proved nothing let alone being a two and one choice!

Cutler had a solid record?!?!?!? (mind you I, along w/ Geech wanted him drafted while you had no clue on him at the time) You're joking right. They never even played in a bowl game while he was there. This year was their first bowl game in 26 years.

Clarett was drafted wasn't he? DEN did use a 1st day pick on him. He then showed up out of weight and was lazy in the weight room. But that still doesn't deflect what you said. You said Mo would do more in the NFL than Green.
