Performance Enhancing Drug Violations

The Browns Board
25 15 1.9k
  • Big surprise.. a cheating Squeeler.

  • Guys, take a step back from the Steeler bashing. You really think something like this would never happen on the Browns? Didn't Tucker get suspended a couple of years ago for juicing? If the NFL really cared about keeping the guys performance enhancement-free, they'd check EVERYONE. Unfortunately, if they did that, 90% of the NFL would be suspended.

  • There is 0% chance that any kind of normally therapy drug would have anything in it to set off a steroids test. It is a worse excuse that Cushings "my body just makes too much testosterone" excuse.

That is not true. There are several that will. Among which are Clenbuterol, an asthma medication, Adderall, an ADD medication, Erythropoietin, used in cancer treatments, any of the Beta2 agonists used in asthma inhalers, and on and on. Was he using one of these? I don't know, but if he was and didn't inform the league, that's just stupid.

logic? you're going to use logic in a browns forum? don't waste your time.

  • Wheres the logic in a steelers fan being on a browns forum?

  • There are rumors circulating that the drugs were therapy drugs and not performance enhancers and that the NFL is going to have some explaining to do. The report was via a local beat writers twitter feed so take it with a grain of salt. It's still a point of contention.

  • It's official now according to several sources. Most believe the suspension should and will be lifted as the medication was for ADHD. Colbert is on the record saying it was not a street drug and not performance enhancing. They're just waiting for a league response as this juncture.

I don't believe it's being discussed but Colbert said in a interview that it wasn't street or performance enhancing. He also said he couldn't say much about it because of league protocol. Andrew Starkey a beat writer for the Steelers and Pittsburgh sports in general also reported the same. I believe he discussed it on his blog. Colbert wouldn't have said anything about it if it weren't true. I personally was shocked he was even flagged considering his draft stock fell big time because of his NCAA recruitment/agent violations. You'd assume he'd be on the straight and narrow. Apparently he still is and the Steelers are just waiting. If a hard link comes up I'll post it. I'm pulling this from my Steeler board from reputable sources. The one guy is a scout.

It sucks a bit for you guys. Because Ben, Supposedly is NOT too thrilled about the Haley hire. Even if he comes up legit (Starkey). Its still mars the Steelers Image a bit. But like everything else. It'll be forgotten. What Im really interested in is seeing how teams that were shackled by the lockout, will rebound this year. The whole Colts saga really matters little to Me. Lets get to camp.

Ben wasn't going to be thrilled with anyone but Bruce Arians. Todd Haley is going to make a major difference with our offense because he's not going to pander and Arians pandered to Ben on the regular. I love what Ben does for our team and love how he plays but he had way too much power under Arians. Haley is going to challenge our entire offense, he's proven and he's a Pittsburgh guy. As far as Saunders is concerned how the hell does it mar the Steelers image? They have no overreaching control of their players. They aren't going to have a escort following everyone around. If they did Ben wouldn't have been on his motorcycle without a helmet or got himself in to trouble with his Johnsons. The only reason it sucks a bit for the Steelers is Saunders in his limited time proved that he's a formidable option. Haley wants to involve the tight ends more and Saunders is the perfect complement to Heath.

Let it be known now that I'm also thrilled with the Haley hire and quite frankly couldn't care less what Ben thinks about it. It's his job to stand behind center and throw the football, not to complain. Honestly he needs to shut up. He hadn't even met the guy and he was talking about the possibility of the offense being set back 2 or 3 years if Haley comes in and changes everything. The reality is this, Haley is going to do whatever it takes to win and will employ whatever works best for our offense. They passed a lot in Arizona because the team was set up that way. They ran a lot in Kansas City because the team was set up that way. Hell if not for all the big injuries, namely Jamal Charles and Moeaki Haley may still have a job with the Chiefs.

  • i'd rather have hired haley than childriss. at least someone might get a foot up their ass when they don't run the right routes.

I am loving what I am reading. Ben is your franchise QB ... and he is not too bright ... you piss him off, you are fucked.

    Haley is a hothead douchebag.

    This is great.

    8-8 forever.

We will pass you within one season.

Interviews from high profile players and beat writers have been all over the local sports radio show. Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald and several Kansas City beat writers and not one had anything negative to say about Haley. On top of that point the Steelers would have never hired him if they thought he was going to be a problem. However for the sake of argument Ben has no right to get pissed, especially after all the BS the city has had to put up with over the last few years. Haley will mesh just fine with Ben and the rest of the offense.

Yes, I think most Clevelanders would be of the opinion that the Chiefs have definitely traded down in ditching Haley and getting RAC as their HC.

  • Zombo said:

Nope, he's only the franchise QB with two rings, a $100M contract, and an ego the size of Mt. Washington.

Why worry about keeping him happy?

    Oh, this could be fun...

    Zombo

He's going to be happy because Haley is going to right the offense. He does what works and has proven that so if running the ball is the answer we're going to run the ball. If passing the ball is going to be the answer then we're going to pass the ball. It will also be nice to see our tight ends finally utilized and possibly our half backs will catch some passes. The biggest knock for many in Pittsburgh on Arians was his complete refusal to use a FB. I imagine we'll be seeing one of those as well. The Haley signing spells nothing but bad things for opposing defense in the AFC North. Arians held the offense back.

He is correct how can Saunders mar the image of an already classless organization. This stuff is just par for the course for them.
