Our time is now. Even though the window we have may be slim, but we have the chance to get back to being relevant in the AFC North. We may not be getting a franchise quarterback this year, but we still have our two first round picks to add some quality players and get this franchise going in the right direction long-term.

The front office has said it before, that they are doing it the RIGHT WAY. They have proved it before by not going crazy in free agency, and trading down to acquire more picks. They proved it again by not selling our future for one player that may, or may not pan out in the NFL. We still have time to get our franchise QB, we just didn't have to give up the future to get it.

How do we have time to wait for a Franchise QB if we have a slim window of opportunity? Im not trying to be a dick but isn't that a bit of a contradiction?

Free agency this year, and next years draft. Plus whatever trades that could happen. I would like to get our QB in the next two years, we didn't HAVE to get him THIS draft. By then, we should have plenty of weapons in place for him.

    EDIT

We have to wait and see where Manning lands. Houston is a possibility, and that means Shaub or TJ Yates could be available. I do realize Shaub is 30, but I think he has at least 5 years left. And if it is true that the Browns are interested in Weedon, he is 28. I would rather trade for Shaub because of his expereince

I got ya. Personally I don't see any franchise QB's in free agency this year. Well at least long term franchise QB's. 2013 looks like are next chance in the QB department. I agree with you on Manning. There are quite a few possibilities that can become viable depending on where he goes.

  • People, I know some of you are upset about not getting RG3, but it is for our own good!!! We need the extra picks, anyone who says otherwise is a fool.

We have some really good pieces like Haden, Sheard, Taylor, Rubin, Jackson, Ward, Thomas, Mack, and Little. You could throw Moore and Norwood in there too.

We still need a play-making free safety

WE NEED LINEBACKERS. Jackson is the only decent linebacker we have. Other than that, we need two starting OLB, and depth at the position.

We need another corner, unless Buster Skrine steps it up and takes over for Sheldon Brown.

We need another stud DE to complete our line.

We need to fix the right side of our offensive line, and get a number one receiver.

And we still don't know what's going on with Hillis.

With two first round picks, we can fill at least two of those holes with stud players. If we draft right we could end up with three or four quality players.

And we still have the free agency yet.

I think next year, or the year after, we will get our franchise QB, and he will be in a better position to succeed. Missing out on RG3 isn't the end of the world.

The only way we are in position next yr to get our franchise QB is if we suck worse then we did last yr or there is a bumper crop of QBs in the next draft, somehow I wouldn't put too much faith in the latter happening.

3 good QB's expected to come out and I don't expect them to go 1,2,3. At worst the 3rd guy goes 5th or 6th and we can always trade up. No QB is going to warrent a RGIII like deal for a lone time.

  • Does anybody know whos scheduled to be a F.A. next year at Q.B.? I know its a long ways off, just curious.

    I agree with your feelings.

This is a pretty deep draft in many of our "need" areas & I would be happy to see a trade down from #4 to somewhere in the 1st 1/2 of round 1, hopefully getting another 2nd round pick (or more, depending on the other team's wants/needs). When you look at how far our "D" has come in Heckert's 1st 2 years of drafting for the Browns, and having more picks this year in a deeper draft in which Heckert has said the "O" will be addressed, I feel pretty confident.

With the 37th overall pick in the second round, I should think that we should actually be able to fill THREE of those holes with quality players. "Should" being the operative term.

We don't need to be taking any more Brian Robiskies or David Veikunes.

Agree- but plan 1A needs to be acquiring playmakers. The oline for the heat it took gave Colt enough time to dance around and either scramble (after 5 or 6 seconds) or make a few plays that either Colt couldn't make or the WR/RBs couldn't make. NFL is about matchups and if you create enough matchup problems for a defense someone is going to make something happen in a big way. We couldn't move the ball at all in big chunks because we lacked playmakers. 2 of the frist three picks need to be on players that are a threat to score with each play.

If we aren't paying for FA's we need to be locking up our good talent (like we have in some instances).

  • Definitely need LBs whether it be through FA or draft. A good speedy WR is also a must need. Little looks like a good possession WR. Of course RB is also a concern, I say bring back Hillis is it is cheap enough. Claiborne may be hard to pass up at #4, with him and Haden we would have a killer secondary. It would free up the safeties for run support.

  • At this rate, Cleveland can either take the best available (which is what I would do) or see who wants Blackmon bad enough to move up for him. Granted, I don't want to see Cleveland fall out of the Top 10 and grab another Alex Mack or something.

The time has come to put up or shut up for the Front Office... Get some talent or get a new job.
