  • Keep up the good work buddy.

Browse the forums searching for people with original thoughts that you can disagree with.

Never draw a line in the sand and make your own statements, leech off of others and use them as catalysts to your own pseudo confidence to reassure you know what you're talking about.

My point remains on what I took from that article.

Lion,Cards,Saints,Texans - all in the top six most free agent signings since 2006. Went from have nots to having hope.

relevant how...exactly? anointed like the dream team last year? or just by idiots like you that still fall for the shiny hood ornament law of football?

nonsensical drivel that i assume is whining about the colts luck...pun intended.

and what happened in '08? oh yeah...the team fucking continued the collapse that started at the end of '07. that was awesome eh? a bit of hope quickly crushed by the facade that savage actually built a team.....they barely got through one season before the wheels came off, let alone being a core that can win over the long haul. oh, how we should long for the success of '07.... 🙄

too blind to see the forest thru the trees....happens to many casual fans. your just sour and bitter, so anything short of doing things your way just gets your estrogen boiling.

those 2 drafts thus far seem promising, and yes...time will tell. heckert wont hit every pick, doesn't need to either. you seem to think that a GM that misses sucks at his job....so why argue the point? you know what its all about...roght? see below...

then just exactly what the fuck are you saying? do you even know?

oh, youre saying target some of the most valuable and sought after FA's on the market? how is that not "goin philly"?

how do you know they didn't? is there a website you know of that publishes a list of all offers made by all team to the FA's? have you even considered that maybe, since heckert actually knows the plan, that the differences in whats actually happening may be a result your own irrationality and stupidity rather than heckerts inability to do his job?

stop fucking whining you little crybaby. you know who else just bitches because they can? women....

Thank you for that. I started to think about replying to those posts above, but you said everything I was thinking. I completely agree. First of all we dont know how much Heckert pursued people because that is not regularly published information. Secondly, if you were a free agent, would you want to come to Cleveland, to a rebuilding team with uncertainty at the QB position? Third, I dont want to tie up a bunch of money on players that when we are ready to actually make a run for the playoffs in a couple of years, are going to be old and declining, Id rather make the correct FA decisions when we are close to being a playoff caliber team.

The only complaint I have is that I would love to bring in a couple more adequate, veteran free agents on the short and cheap to fill some holes so we can focus on drafting the best player available. Im thinking a OG, RT, OLB and maybe a CB or safety. And this is still the beginning of free agency, there are still people available.

Here's your answer- except for a very few around here- no one was saying go after Peyton Manning (who wouldn't have come here) or Mario Williams. But not paying Hillis say $2.5 million- hometown discount. Or not even bothering trying to make a serious push at Winston- who would have instantly filled a the most glaring hole on o-line at not break the bank money- isn't sitting on your hands doing nothing. Buffalo and KC are THAT much better destinations than Cleveland? Really? So now we have two holes we're going to have to address in the draft- instead of using those picks elsewhere. Hey Heckert- you're going to find a RT in the third or fourth round who's better right now than Winston? I doubt it.

    @badnewsbrowns said:

Go after guys like Eric Winston,Ben Grubbs,Carl Nicks,Jabari Evans,Robert Meachem...

How do they not inquire about at least one fucking receiver or o-lineman with a free agency loaded with talent after the garbage we had last year is ludicrous.

  • original thoughts? you trumpeted a fucking PD article....thats original?

your point was that what...4 teams have used FA successfully? how does that validate your point when its easy to show double or triple the number of teams in the same time period that failed miserably?

the redskins tried to build almost entirely though FA.....and failed again and again and again. an already solid philly team got worse by meddling in FA last year....

no one is saying to avoid FA.....which you seem to be arguing with yourself about then. FA is best used to supplement your team, as is displayed by the teams that use this philosophy over a decade or more while continuing to challenge and go to the playoffs. 2 of them are in our division.

what most of us are saying is that spending big money doesn't always yield big returns. while you weren't here, everyone was drooling over ray edwards last year...although not quite as bad as mario this year. doesn't look like such a bad "no-sign" now tho....

MY point, is that i'd rather take an extra year or 2 to possibly have a sustained winner rather than another '07. while '07 was nice, it did little to quench our hunger for a winner. sustained success is what will turn this fanbase around, and compromising the cap in order to win now only hurts our chances to win in the future.

    big picture....

  • We're not building through FA. Can your pussyflapping, BadNews.

i dont get it. its a self-perpetuating prophecy. i cant blame anyone for not wanting to come to cleveland to deal with these fickle-ass fans. we boo our best players demise, throw tantrums for every move or lack of, expect a winner after 1 season and cry for change after 2.

seriously...i think everyone needs to take some time off. way too much emotional investment in a frickin game.

Except, of course, he is better than anything we had...or are likely to get without using our most prime resource: our high draft picks...that are severely needed to be utilized at other positions.

Now it is clear to me that the Browns must use either their #4 on Richardson or their later pick on Lamar Miller.

But by doing that, we cannot now use that pick on a WR, DB, LB or anywhere else we had serious needs. And its not like they have picked up a quality FA RB to replace him

  • I find it so aggravating that as usual The Browns don't even try to get better. They are more then happy to sit at the bottom. We could find some help...you see loads of great players just go to other teams and we sit here with players on our team that other teams would never consider....Why god Why?

Unless you have Heckert's phone bugged, my theory is just as valid as yours.

I'll grant H&H probably looked at film on the guy- but here's a newsflash- we don't have a RT on the roster right now who's worth a damn. Don't have much of a RB contingent either. Outside of Little, wow we sure have a great WR group too.

Ever consider players might not want to come to Cleveland because they think H&H are a bunch of jerks? Totally blowing the RGIII deal is a big exhibit A in my book. Wasting a year on Mangini and then bringing in Un-Shurmur was a great waste of a season too. So how much longer you think this fanbase should be patient for? In my book, we had better start seeing drastic improvement THIS YEAR, or tell you what- the stadium will be mighty empty in 2013. Yeah- let's go ahead and let this play out with Colt quarterbacking this year- that's until he goes on IR because the turnstile they picked up in the draft missed a block.

Sorry pal, I'm fed up with yet another 5 year plan. My perception of the state of the Browns might be off, but the perception is the reality of a lot of fans.

Exactky what I'm saying. Short and fill in some holes. And if that means a premium payment for a shorter contract, that's fine. With good drafts, we could be 2 years away from a playoff team (assuming some miracle at QB doesn't happen this year). But I don't see that as their direction. However, someone made a good point about not knowing who they may have contacted and whether they would even consider Cleveland. We may need a winning season before that happens.

I can forgive them for the RG3 deal. That's a lot of draft picks to give up, at a time when we need all the quality picks we can get. Sorry, right player, wrong time. Bidding would have kept going and the Redskins would have won anyway. I agree with the rest. The Mangini debacle - bad management, Hills during the season and after the season, bad management, Shurmer, a rookie coach without an OC, bad management decision. This love affair with the WCO, bad strategy. Telling the world about it - even worst strategy. Somebody show me where Holmgren is earing his salary? Heckert I can understand, he's made some great draft picks, but what has been the contribution by Holmgen? Colt McCoy?

  • Heckert has done okay so far, I wouldn't say great. All he's got to show for the 2010 draft is Haden, how much credit should a GM get for not missing on a #7 pick? And still Haden has a lot to prove in 2012.

TJ Ward has had injury problems since high school and ended the season injured last year. He's a liability in coverage, not a ball hawk and his hard hitting style of safety is becoming extinct with these new nfl rules.

And although Pashos sucked last season, he played injured all year. He had surgery this off season and the Browns flipped him the bird and showed him the door. Releasing injured players isn't going to help attracting free agents.

Yeah dipshit let's wait until July when all the tier 1-5 talent is gone and we can get a right tackle that wouldn't start for any team besides Cleveland again.

Or,according to your logic we can bypass free agency altogether and grab a tackle with one of our top three picks.

Then look to find some offensive/defensive playmakers in the lower rounds where they're so abundant.

  • You are a pathetic troll. If it weren't for you posting your little smart ass comments and leeching onto every thread you'd have zero to talk about. So do your thing bud I get it, that's you. Get in where you fit in.

You are damn right they are relevant,Arizona went to a Superbowl and New Orleans won one. Detroit and Houston are both up an coming teams. It's a hell of a lot more exciting being a fan of these teams than the Browns.

You even trying to argue that shows you have the mind of a spoiled little child.

And I would expect a reply to my comments about the 07 Browns from a troll like yourself.

In fact I pondered posting it as soon as I mentioned the 07 Browns because I knew an idiot would come back with that response. I'll take take 10-6 over 5-11,5-11,4-12, signing free agents had nothing to with the Browns debacle.

    You are a simpleton.

Now, be gone troll.. go scour the board looking for more threads to post your worthless snide remarks.

    It'll pass...

Agree on the Eric Winston effort. You'd think being on a line with Thomas and Mack would have been a selling point.

As for our staff putting off FA's... I'd sooner look at Shurmur that H&H. Winston chose KC who has a "players' head-coach". Not sure we know what kind of HC we have...

Thank you- at least someone gets what I'm saying. I'm not married to any particular FA- but right now, RT is a damn pressing need for the Browns. Usually, you pick up a quality RT in the second round. We took Lauvao at guard (not as demanding a position) in the third, and he hasn't exactly elicited Pro Bowl talk yet.

So that second round pick we could use on a running back or WR may well have to be used to fill a hole we could potentially have filled at minimal cost through FA. We got 3 decent seasons out of Steinbach- I'd have been really happy if we could have gotten the same out of Winston.

Cripe, I'm not saying break the bank on a player, or go crazy as the Redskins have all too frequently done. FWIW, I think the Bills are going to regret signing Mario Williams- but at least do a little bit more than try and solidify one position (DE) in free agency.

  • um...we have 9 picks. nine....

4 in the top 100. how many WR's and RB's do we need?

im arguing the point because 1. eric winstons contract would put us damn near the cap (8 mil/yr isn't exactly minimal). 2. its one of the least important positions on the team, right behind longsnapper. 3. an entire probowl line still isn't gonna give colt enough time to make his reads and throw the ball. why does this team need to give its QB's 15 seconds to throw and RB's a hole wide enough to drive a truck thru?

so you dont wanna burn a pick on RB and RT. cool...what were you hoping to use those picks on? cause i dont really see how filling those positions thru the draft somehow sets us back farther than had we signed hillis and winston.

    oh noes...we lost a RT. now we'll never win...lol 🙄

Are you trying to say that the right side of the line was not a trouble spot for the Browns?

Or that though it was a trouble spot it can be resolved by putting a bandaid on it?

I think a quality RT is necessary for this team.

I don't think we should spend a 1st rounder on the position, but it wouldn't surprise me if they take one in the s2d round.

I don't think we should spend a 1st rounder on the position, but it wouldn't surprise me if they take one in the s2d round.

winston is the bandaide. drafting one is the cure. i, however, would be surprised if the picked a T before the 3rd (as its a very high 3rd).

See my new thread. Though I don't think they will, I won't snort my beer if they pick one at #22 or at #37.
