Is Nfl Network Worth The Price?

I think some of you guys are mixing up NFL sunday ticket and the NFL network. NFL network is the one that has the thursday night games and does a lot of in depth analysis of stuff, sunday ticket is the package where you buy the right to watch all the sunday games.
from a cost standpoint, it just depends how much you spend at a bar to watch the games. I think the package runs $300 for the season, so divide that by the 16 games you're talking a little under $20 per game. Personally, I tend to eat and drink some beers before I get to the bar so I only spend $10-12 bucks, but it would be nice to be able to sit at home and watch the games.
-
yeah man if you are talking about sunday ticket then its tottally worth it IF you are a browns fan living outside of cleveland market. you get every game plus all the games around the leauge. as far as nfl network its not worth it unless you really HAVE to watch the thursday games.
-
Keep in mind the only way to get the Sunday ticket is through Directv. They have the exclusive rights and it then runs around $400 for the season to get every NFL game, unless the local team is blacked out and then you don't get that game (somehow I'm in the Chargers "market" even though I live 80 miles from Qualcomm Stadium.
As someone else said...if you're going to a bar every Sunday to watch the Browns, it's totally worth it to be able to stay home and watch the games. All depends on your situation. It's better for me to stay home, but I have a wife and 2 kids. If I was single, I'd probably spend my Sundays at a local Browns bar watching the games and probably spending more money than I do to watch the games at home.

Sunday Ticket is going to be about 100 dollars cheaper than it was last year if you elect to not receive games on your phone/Playstation 3.
It will be about 250-300 dollars, and you get every game regardless of blackout (according to them). I never once had a blacked out game last season.
In my opinion it's worth it, but I think they should replay games in the offseason as well. It just feels odd paying for something you only use for 4-5 months.
-
I believe you can just pay $350 and get it on a ps3 without getting dish. They offered that last season.
-
then (you guys that get the sunday ticket) you have directtv as your cable source? do they provide internet and phone as well?

DTV is my source. They offer bundle packages with AT&T.
I dropped Sunday Ticket last year after subscribing for a while due to travel. Caught my Browns games at the bars. Really enjoyed the couple I saw in Houston with a large contingent of Browns Backers...
I'm on the fence this year, but if they cut me a really good deal (and they will... you just have to haggle) I'll probably re-up.
-
I used to have it, & canned it when the price went sky-high about 3 years ago. Plus, if you already were a DirecTV subscriber, they didn't discount you at all, despite giving it to new sign-ups for free...that sealed the deal for me to unsubscribe.
If you go to NFL.com, you can sign up for something called "rewind;" they replay all the games, and the cost is around $49....only problem is they don't show the game until it's over on TV.

Yea, I will be interested to see how much it costs this year and if they offer any type of deal just for using it on a device (I own the ps3 personally). I enjoy going to bars but unless you're with a backers group it's kind of boring watching a game as the only browns fan there (so true where I've lived). Not to mention it's a lot nicer just having some friends over, drinkin some cold ones on the couch with some good homemade food.
Another big thing for me is that the games they show nationally are ALWAYS the cowboys, steelers, etc. I get so tired of watching the same teams after the browns. I think the package would be nice to get a change of pace and watch smaller teams I rarely watch. But it all comes down to price.

Last year you could get Sunday ticket on the ps3 without having directv. It was around $350 I'd I remember correctly. Not a bad price compared to the cost of going to a bar and risking a DUI. I know I have to get tanked to watch them play.
-
I enjoy a lot of the NFL Network shows. Every now and then you'll be flipping around and find something interesting.
You won't get every game, but you'll get a lot of them in replays.

That would awesome if it's a little cheaper than in the past. I had a couple of Chargers games blacked out last season and I'm sure there will be a couple more this year as well unless DirecTV changes that rule for us. I always had a problem with paying to get "every game" and having the game blacked just because the Chargers fans don't buy tickets to watch their team play.

If I didn't have season tickets and go to 5-6 games a year, I'd buy a PS3 and do that.
I now have a X-Box, but only have 3-4 games for it so it's not like I would be giving up a great deal of software.

that might be my way to go as well. i've got appletv right now just as a sort of media player for my hdtv that grabs internet and other content throughout the house's computers and get hulu (and other....) maybe i can see if it will work with that.
just don't want to have to change IP and phone and cable that i have now.

PS3 is also a Bluray player and you can now start getting Amazon Prime Instant streaming through them. It's a nice system.

I've had Sunday Ticket for years, and I'm with you Mark. it's really not fair to the home subscribers who've shelled out $300 to be blacked out because the "local team" can't sell out. What the NFL doesn't want is a bar getting the game and making a killing off a non-sold out game.
With Sunday Ticket you don't get every game if you happen to be in an NFL teams "local market". Besides the potential blackouts, you won't get the Sunday Night game, or the Thursday games either. (Though if you subscribe to Direct I'm fairly sure NFL Network is included in even their most basic packages). And if a game is available from your local station, it won't be carried on ST either. Here in Dayton- all the Bengals away games are blacked out on the dish- because Channel 7 is carrying the game, and they don't want to lose the local advertizing revenue.

When I lived in AZ I had to go and watch the games at a local bar. At the time in 2000 I was barely 18 and it was like pulling teeth to even get them to let me in to watch the game... I decided the easiest way to get around all that nonsense was just to move back to Ohio!
