Would Like To Hear From Goolie And Gipper

The Browns Board

  • I would like to hear from you two on your thoughts of the Draft. I thought it was pretty good. We really only had 1 big WOW moment and that is with Richerson. I do like the fact that we now have a face to the Browns. When people think of the Browns they will think if Trent. I think that is a great thing!!! Another plus is that we do not have to see Colt behind center THANK GOD!!!!! Weeden I think will be very good. Picking up O-lineman and D-lineman later in the draft is never a bad thing. The WR we got is Retarded fast!!!

Overall I give the Browns a grade of B-. Would have been a A if they would have drafted a WR in the 3rd round

  • Omg I just posted almost the exact same thing as KGL. I don't know how to feel about this.

maybe you should think of hanging yourself in your ex-girlfriends coat closet.

  • My feeling is that the Browns, for the most part, got the players they need at the positions they needed. I go back to my "Holes" thread:

    needed RB....got the best

needed QB....got probably the third best

needed RT....got the best pure RT on the board (others were LTs

needed a speed WR...got like the fastest or next to the fastest they could

needed LBs...got a couple...who hopefully will be upgrades over current.

needed DBs...not sure we filled this need.

Obviously time will only tell if these guys will actually perform the jobs they were obtained to perform....but at least the Browns did address most of their serious needs....and I don't care if people think some of these guys were a "reach".

Right now, today, it does not matter which order they were taken with or which pick they were taken with. In four years undoubtedly there will be the only "coulda had a V-8" talk about who they skipped over. But every team will have that.

On paper at least Browns got the seeming BPA at those positions.

    Again time will tell.

I don't accept your judgement that at QB we got the third best. We got the third in popularity, but Weeden could very likely out perform the other two in this group.

Fair enough. Hope you are right. I was only going based on ratings. Hell, who'da thought that the 7t QB taken in 2001 with the 199th pick would turn out to be one of the best QBs of all time.

Frankly, I believe Luck to be another Tim Couch. When the whitle blows, his team is not going to be bigger and badder than 90% of his opponents. I think he is a little slow in the head like Couch was.

I disagree....simply due to the fact that Luck went to Stanford, which on an academic level is equal to Harvard/Yale/Princeton.

Kentucky is equal to, well, Western Kentucky. In other words...hardly the same.

RG3 is a hell of an athlete, but does that make him a natural NFL QB? Run first QBs have never seen great NFL success, and RG may too be a Vick-like yawner.

I'll jump on the "homers for Weeden" bus. I think he will out perform those two homos.

At least the equivalent of say, BR?

  • How is the guy who only had 16 starts at RT out of his 51 college starts the best "pure RT" in the draft? Not saying I don't think they guy can play RT, but to say he was the best pure RT is a bit of a stretch.

  • Purdue University. Today, one of the upper tier engineering schools.

    Hey GIPPER..............

By BR you mean Big Ben? If so, yes. I see Weeden as a guy who can use all of his tools, both playmates and his own skills to keep defenses on their heels. I like this kid and i like the pick. I think he will be the QB steal of this year's draft.

My biggest issue with him is his age. However, if he can come in and produce 25 TDs and 10 INTs or less in his first season I would take it.

The only thing is that we still don't have a WR to catch any passes from Weeden - or any other QB.

Its tough cause most colleges play their best tackle on the left side (blindside), and not many college teams have 2 stud tackles. I think that a RT is considered a bit more of a mauling run blocker and adequate pass blocker (or at least thats what I have in mind). So playing LT in college just means a lineman is the best tackle on their college team. Reflecting on it now, Jonathon Martin seems like a LT prospect because of his pass blocking skills and lack of mean streak, strength and run blocking. Im clearly not an expert, but that is how I view the situation. Clearly Heckert and Co saw something from Schwartz that they liked better than Martin, Glenn, and Massie.

  • he started more at LT than RT....
