Colt Mccoy Stinks!

Locked The Browns Board

  • McCoy is not a starting caliber NFL quarterback. This is not the fault of Brandon Weedon, the running game, the receivers, the offensive line, or Pat Shurmur. McCoy is just not a good QB. I have yet to hear anyone tell me what exactly Colt does well on the football field. Even, Tim Couch managed to score more points with much less talent around him. Considering that no teams are trying to trade for Colt, its obvious that not very many teams around the league think Colt is good either. He would not start on a single team in the league. He is nothing more than a backup. Heckert and Holmgren were so desperate to have someone else start at QB next year that they were willing to take a huge risk by drafting a 28 year old QB. That shows you exactly how they feel about Colt. So I ask the question: why do people still want to keep Colt McCoy on the team?

  • why dont you try reading the fucking board rather than ask us questions we've been talking about for 3 damn months?

I dont think anyone here is arguing that Colt is a top caliber QB with awesome physical traits. He was picked in the 3rd round for a reason... But I do think that Colt has not been given a fair chance. That being said we are not obligated to give him a fair chance, clearly our Front Office of QB experts assessed the situation and thought Weeden would be a better option at QB. In Colt's defense he was shunned as a rookie by the Mangini staff and then in his second year, he had no offseason to learn a new offensive system that supposedly takes QBs a while to learn and develop chemistry in order to be successful (from a rookie head coach with no O coordinator). Additionally through those 2 years he had no WRs, a porous line, and no real running game (last year). I dont think many people are pissed that we "upgraded" the QB position, but I do think Colt got the short end of the stick and had a TON of factors not in his advantage that werent really his fault. I would have been fine giving Colt another chance this year, but am not mad that we moved on. He did start at Texas for 4 years and was the winningest QB in college football history until this year, its not like he is some scrub that was found on a random team. I would love to keep him as a backup and let him develop.

  • There's enough QB threads going around where you can express your feelings on McCoy.

Guy is mid third round pick who busted his ass for us no need to kick him or his fans while he's down now.
