OK, so how many times have we heard it over the years from Ghoulie and Rich that any team that would draft Offensive Linemen high in the draft has to be the biggest, dumbest sumbitch organization on Planet NFL?

Ergo, by their own criteria, the Biggest, Dumbest Sumbitch Organization on Planet NFL is:

    The Pittsburgh Steelers

They used the #24 overall pick to draft a big fat slob (their term) of an Offensive Guard named David DeCastro. And they used their second round pick #56 overall to draft a big fat slob of a burnout at Offensive Tackle named Mike Adams. (note how the Steelers always take at least 1 OSU player in every draft).

Then they use their 4th round pick on another big fat slob Defensive Tackle by the name of Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum or some such. (Coliseum might be a good nickname...a step up from refrigerator/freezer)

Now, note Steeler fans, this is not MY criticism of your picks. This is simply pointing out what Rich and Ghoulie have hammered away at for years that teams that use high draft picks on OL etc. are stupid, stupid, stupid. They have been suckling the Steeler teats about how competent that organization is....but now that organization is violating their own prime directive.

So? What say you now, boys?

USA Today graded the Steelers drafting of those slob linemen part of the number-one overall draft in the entire NFL.

The USA today reads at a 8th grade level.

If I may, Guppie, answer for the only two Cleveland fans on this board with any football sense... I believe Rich and Ghoulie would state the following:

You build a team via the QB. Thing is, Gup, the Steelers ALREADY have that franchise QB in place. Bit of a difference between that and the Browns situation, I'd say. So when you DO have the QB in place, THEN it makes sense to draft the best OL's to protect the investment.

Drafting top O-linemen BEFORE you have the top-shelf QB in place: dumb. Drafting top O-linemen AFTER you've acquired him: common sense.

As further proof, as I've already posted elsewhere, USA Today graded the Steelers drafting of those slob linemen part of the number-one overall draft in the entire NFL. As in, numero uno best in show.

So in fact, your little psychological ploy grades out a big FAIL, I'm afraid.

I hope both gentlemen are OK with me speaking for them.

But then you can use Tim Couch as a reason for why you need the O-Line in place before you have the QB. Couch wasn't great but if he could have been protected and have been far less plagued by injury which could have made him a good QB, not elite, but good. There has to be middle ground in the argument. I will agree that if you have a top 5 QB, or any good top 15 QB for that matter, they need to be protected. But you also can't be spending top draft picks every year on O-Linemen when you don't have that top QB in place or at least op RB and WR. I think the Browns have done it the right way. They came in with a solid left side and then took who they think is a top QB and afterwards decided to protect their new franchise QB and RB with a RT. Now if we went CB WR or any kind of defense and WR/RB in the first round then the Schwartz pick for us would have made much less sense.

That wasn't what they said, Joseph. The exact words of ghoolie and rich: "OL are dime a dozen."

Not "OL should be selected precisely after the QB is in place but before the TE and every other Tuesday."

Either OL are worth drafting or they aren't. Rich and ghoolie have always asserted that OL aren't worth drafting. Deal with it.

Your historical revisionism ploy is a lie - and in your own language, FAIL.

I understand what you are saying and agree with it for the most part. But their position was never: get the QB, then Go after OL. It has always been "OL are a dime a dozen" and high draft picks should never be used on them. So, based on that I will assume that no, they are not OK with you speaking for them. If they are consistent in their argument they would have said: "even if you have the QB, the draft the RB, or the WR, or the TE, or the DB or LB".

If they are not consistent...and if they agree with you, then they will have been speaking out of their ass all these years.
