You love the browns. Just admit it. Do you go troll Ravens forums? It's unlikely.

Do you seriously think I troll? I don't think I troll at all and yes I 100% read and occasionally post on a Raven board. They don't obsess over the Steelers so I read more often than I post. Also let's not start acting like the Ravens have our number. Sure they've won games but they don't own the rivalry and we've swept them like they've swept us. Although our sweep most recently was twice in season and once in the AFC champ game which is the bigger blow. Either way I don't feel that I troll here and I certainly don't troll elsewhere. I do post tho 🙂

Hello! McFly! Is anybody home? The fact that you are an alleged fan of another team coming on our board AUTOMATICALLY makes you a Troll. What is it about the definition of a Troll that you don't understand?

Again, making ONE post on a Browns Board makes you Steeler fan a TROLL.

What you are claiming not to be is a Flamer. But you are that too despite living on the banks of a river in Egypt. Just don't even try to be so coy about it.

Furthermore, Who cares what you do to Raven land? As far as we are concerned Pittsburgh and Baltimore can suffer the same fate as Hiroshima and Nagasaki. (in a figurative football sense, that is)

  • Gipper you just like hearing yourself talk. I also didn't imply that you should care about what I do or don't do on the Ravens board but someone implied I did X so I cleared it up for him. I also don't believe that I troll nor do I believe someone posting on a rival board is there for the specific purpose of trolling.

Do you speak English? Or are you like from Rigel 5 or some other planet.

Either that or you are a Retard.

The definition of trolling is simply this: posting on a rival board.

You have posted on a rival board, ergo, you ARE a troll.

It is as simple as that.

I don't know how to explain any simpler to you. If you cannot understand that then put a big R on your forehead.

If you disagree with what the definition of what a troll is, then say so. Then say to yourself that you are wrong. Because simply being here as a Steeler fan makes you a troll. It doesn't matter how congenial you are or how intelligent you may think of yourself as.

By simply being here, you ARE a Troll. And there is nothing wrong with that. Just be aware of it.

If you don't want to be a troll, then ask Stan or Zombo to cancel your account. Otherwise just accept your status.

I'm not discussing the definition of Retard, but unfortunately Gipper you are incorrect as to the true definition of Troll. Used as a [noun], a "TROLL" has one of the following definitions to which you can look up in any number of dictionaries.

    1. very ugly creature in old Scandinavian stories that lives in a cave and is either very small or very tall.

    2. ugly or unpleasant person

    3. (in computing) showing disapproval to someone who deliberately sends a rude or annoying message to a discussion group on the Internet

Ergo, the mere act of posting on a rival board does not make one a troll. However, you may find one's messages to be "rude" or "annoying" and as such you can show that person disapproval by labeling him as a troll.

I believe that defininition would be incorrect. The "trolling" of internet message boards derives not from the "ugly creature" definition of troll, but from the use of that term as it applies to fishing as follows:

to fish for or in with a moving line, working the line up or down with a rod, as in fishing for pike, or trailing the line behind a slow-moving boat.

    4. to move (the line or bait) in doing this.

    5. to cause to turn round and round; roll.

A person "trolls" internet sites merely by moving in and out of them...dipping their rod or bait in if you will.

To limit the definition of a 'troll' to only someone who causes disruption or argument on a message board/chat room would be counter to the etymology of the term.

You can't be serious? If you are this is either a VERY weak attempt at spinning the argument in your favor or you're completely clueless when it comes to widely used internet lingo. Edy's definition is 100% spot on and the widely recognized definition for "trolling" on the internet. Yours would be restricted to Bill Dance and his devoted followers. You can't possibly be serious BUT if for some reason you are I'll now view you in a much more amusing light.

I don't know about "internet" lingo. I do know about the English language. "Trolling" has always, to my view, been derived from the fishing term. It only makes sense when it is used analogously in that fashion.

I mean, if the derivation of the term came from just fat, hair, ugly, garlic breathed Steeler fans, some other term would probably fit better.

Nevertheless. Let's say we accept Endymion's defition of the term.

Then YOU are STILL a TROLL in that sense. In fact, you are the epitome of the term.

In fact, sure, lets go look at the Urban Dictionary definition:

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

Fits you perfectly to a tee. So don't even ever deny being a troll, even under your version of the term. If you deny it, we will have another term to describe you that will even be more offensive, the intials of which will be R.F.

I would have to agree with this as well.

I actually don't think Homotron is a troll. I don't ever remember a moment when Homo has just randomly attacked the Browns or disrespected someone on the board for NO reason. I will however say he will stick up for his team.himself as would any Browns fan or person on a Steelers board (or wherever really) The only thing I never got was why he is on a Browns board as a Steeler fan, but he has said numerous times he likes reading the boards of all the division rivals so atleast he keeps consistent. As much as I hate the Steelers and some of there actual trolls Homotron has never rubbed me the wrong way (like that garafleets clown or whatever his name is)

Just my opinion while I am bored.

Also Homotron take Gipper w a grain a salt. He is old and apparently doesn't realize the interweb has its own culture/terminology. He lost me when he agreed with the rock and roll HOF not inducting KISS and Rush.

I appreciate the above because I truly don't believe I troll and I never came here to start trouble. I actually had a pretty good understanding with a few of the more prominent posters when I first joined. I came here to read and read on a Bengal board AND a Raven board. I don't post as much but as I said before in this thread and others they don't obsess over the Steelers like some do here. I also feel that because of some of the other Steeler fans legitimately trolling I was lumped in to the name change fiasco. I do enjoy reading and contributing from time to time and quite honestly wished more constructive discussions occurred. There is A TON of Browns fan on Browns fan hate here as well which really does blow my mind. I'm not here to ruffle feathers and only do when someone attempts to ruffle mine. As far as Old Man river is concerned (my dad is 60 himself 🙂 ) He doesn't bother me and I do take what he says with a grain of salt. Unfortunately that his doing because I'm sure he knows plenty about his Browns but instead of discussing them in a civil manner he himself goes in to "troll mode" even with his own. I'm not a big Kiss fan but they certainly deserve to be in the Hall. I do like Rush and they 100% should be in the hall.

Yo! mods can I formally request that my name be changed back? As it stands it only exists as an additional point of contention. It hasn't run me off. I know one of your own thought it should be changed back and it actually was returned to it's former glory at one point only to be bumped back to where it is now. I've been playing nice for a while now. It's about that time. Yes? Yes?

And once again Jnuh I appreciate what you said above.

I appreciate that and have never posted here to ruffle feathers. Ruffle mine or attempt to ruffle mine and I will 100% return the favor, it's always been that way for me. I would certainly appreciate my name being changed back. I'm done playing in the city vs city threads. If it's Browns/Steelers great but I've wasted far too much time defending Pittsburgh. I changed my sig a few weeks ago which was very anti Ohio as a testament to my "pledge" so to speak.

There's a difference between "trolling" and "flamebaiting". In the truest sense of the words Ghoolie is not only a troll, but a flamebaiter on top of it- doesn't matter if he's a Browns fan.

"We're great- you suck" is grounds for dismissal. Now if you want to say "because" that's a different story.

BTW, if I could- I'd change all the regular Steeler fans that post here back to their original names- that skill has escaped me.

Good natured banter between fans of opposing teams is great- just like Rome says "have a take". Heck, there's Browns fans here that I don't agree with- does that make them trolls?

  • I like how troll has become almost an offensive term. If you're trolling another teams forum always looking to extol their rival then yes, you're a troll. Just own it.

I would have to agree with this as well.

First off, I never agreed that KISS should not be in. I by all means think they should be in.

I also said that it doesn't break my heart that Rush is not in because I don't like Rush.

What I also said was that in my opinion there are many other acts that deserve to be in over Rush.

Whether Rush has the credentials to be in, I believe are debatable. I do think that they have sufficient credentials to be considered....but I can still think of a hundred acts that I believe have better credentials. But if they got in I don't think it would be the worst miscarriage of justice.

I could, and did, name a pile of bands that I would prefer to be in over Rush (and that includes KISS)

I can never be a "troll" on my own teams board.

As for the lingo...sorry, I think mine fits far better. It is far more in line with the defintion of the original term. (and as such, I believe it would NOT have a negative connotion per se.

What term then is used for the fan of one team showing up on the board of a rival team, regardless of how they conduct themselves? I called that a troll. What do you call it?

Now, if that "troll" then proceeds to make an ass of himself, or get into arguing then I call them a "flamer".

What can I say, I can't help it that I have a better grasp on the English Language than most every one else.

I'm not a big Kiss fan but they certainly deserve to be in the Hall. I do like Rush and they 100% should be in the hall.

Now, why don't you two KISS. Get a lot of tongue action going there

  • This argument is ridiculously boring. Let's spice it up:

Gip, Homo called you a sissyboy and inquired as to your sexual preference.

Homo, you smell like a gas station beef and cheese burrito.

    Have at it, you two.

  • Yo gip I don't give a damn about "YOUR" lingo. I only know the widely accepted lingo of the damn internet and your definition of "flamer" is now the definition of "troll". I've NEVER heard troll used in the manner that you describe unless I stumble on some old Bill Dance videos. You love your trivia threads, start a poll. I doubt anyone will align themselves with your definition. Couch I don't care to get heavily involved in an argument with Capt. Spin. Hell after I decided I was done with the city vs city BS he and I won't have much to discuss. He knows very little about the current Steelers, hell he knows very little about the NFL outside of the Browns and quite honestly I don't blame him. My own dad is a little out of the loop but he knows the Steelers inside and out. Although he's more in touch with the rest of the league than Gip. Get studying GIPPER!

    A. What makes you think I give a damn about what is widely accepted lingo of the internet? I try to speak English, not gibberish.

As I said, the term troll is still more descriptive of how I define it rather than how you say it is generally accepted. (beyond that, my definition took away the negativity associated with the term)

    B. You still didn't answer my question: If "troll" is not the "correct or accepted" terminology for a fan of one team that posts on the message board of another team....then what IS the term for such a person. Until you can come up with a better term for me to use, you will continue to be a troll. (Besides, if I took a poll, I suggest you WOULD be labeled a troll, even under your own definition of the term)

    C. I know plenty about the the current NFL. Probaly more than you.Do I know the name, height, weight, 40 speed, statistics of every single motherfucker that plays in the league? No.

I know about things that are important to know.

But, admittedly, I am actually more interested in the history of the league than I am in something like: who is the nickelback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, or who is the Right Guard for the Seattle Seahawks or who every linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are. Yea, sorry, can't tell you that. But I suspect I can hold my own overall.

Look, the guy has been unwillingly given a certain derogatory name by the board admins.

It is not my job to convince him not to live up to that name, now is it?
