  • Don hasn't recorded in nearly 20 years and is a recent inductee in to the Country Music Hall of Fame.

He had 17 #1 hits and I read somewhere that 40 of his 42 single releases made the top 10....pretty strong.

The vid below gives a hint of what is to come on this mans journey with music. I saw him maybe a month ago in concert, and let me tell you, at 73 years old, the guy is still a voice for the ages.

In the vid you'll hear people you know , country music fan or not, gush over the guy. When the CD is released in a few weeks, give the old guy a shot, it is a refreshing sound I know you will like, even if you are a head banger. Sometimes you need some mellow to balance things, and this guy is mellow.

Nobody is like the Gentle Giant. (He's maybe 6'7" or more)

Oh, he still has that corncob tasseled hat.....a way cool hat, at least to me. He's had that hat a long time. When it's all said and done, that thing needs to go to the HOF to hang on the wall.

  • Always a big fan. Living on Tulsa Time. I believe in you.

Sweet, oftentimes, simple melodies with a great, soothing voice.

It's been a long time since I even thought of him. All the LPs of his - and everybody else, for that matter, are long gone in the trash can.

  • Thanks, I enjoyed that. He sure doesn't look his age.

  • That is really high praise from Alison Krauss.

That is real, genuine country music. His music reminds me a bit of George Strait's....

Well, some wood weathers better than others. His hasn't. Even 40 years ago he looked pretty old. Maybe a bit too much time in the Texas sun as a youth.

No wait, I meant he didn't look his age, he looks younger.

Guess that makes me an old, old lady. 😆

  • I guess since I look young for my age, I was bragging a bit. 😉

I know you are a California girl, and country may not be your thing, but then again, Merle Haggard was part of the Bakersfield Sound, so who knows, maybe you are a fan.

At any rate, I know you will like Don Williams. You seem like a sensible woman who is well versed.
