Id bet BIG money that both MoMass and Hardesty are on our team this year. We have too much invested in them to discard them after 1 year in the system with no offseason and injuries. They both have at least one more year. Mitchell on the other hand...

I don't know. While it's far too early to predict who will & won't be here, here are my thoughts on the above...

Hardesty...He is of no value to us running as tentatively as he did last year. He also showed poorly as a receiver.

Mitchell...A project with huge upside set back with a bad finger injury last year. More potential & faster than MoMass, but has some new kids staring him down.

MoMass...Two years with 2 glaring weaknesses..1) Lousy YAC & 2) Poor at coming back for the ball plus past concussions may be an issue. So far, mediocre at best & we need better than that. I would rather take a chance on a kid kid with upside than continue with what we have had.

We'll see, but Mitchell just may be the best of these three. I think he deserves another year more than the other two.

Just my thoughts...I could well be wrong, but we'll see.

    Bw3. Such a good nickname

  • Little/MoMa/Norwood as starting WR

Cribbs/Mitchell/Benjamin as backups. Don't look now, but those 3 Browns are fast.

Not sure how many TE/FB they'll keep, but if all 6 stay, Cooper won't be on the 52.

OL-I guess we have to keep more than Luavua as a backup OL, but godalmighty.

FS - Who is this Hagg person?

QB - McCoy is a backup at a good price, cut Wallace.

I don't mean to pick on you, but where is all this coming from about Mitchell??

He's played in what... 5 plays in 2 years... How can he be judged as better than anybody??

All I remember about him is when we drafted him Mel Kiper said it was a good pick. Haven't even seen the guy other than that. I understand he is big and fast, but if he was good, he'd play. right?

I hope he's everything I've heard he is by reading this board, but right now he's only a last option at WR - if he makes the team - b/c he's gotta show health, speed, hands, route running, ... everything this offseason in order to have a chance.

1st) now way we keep 4 TEs & 2 FBs on our 53. Marecic or Smelley will be cut. (period)

2nd) Hagg... played well last year when he was on the field. 7th round pick who did everything he was asked to do last year. Will probably start this year which is perfect b/c he would complement Ward very well. He's good in coverage, but a little too small to be a CB.

3rd) Why would we cut Wallace? We're not short on cap room, plus how many teams have to use their 3rd QB in the course of a season... answer: quite a few. We'll keep both.

I didn't judge Mitchell as better than anyone...I speculated that he MAY be the best of the three. While he was deemed very raw when drafted, his potential has always been said to be greater than MoMass'. MoMass has played for 2 years & shown darn little. He hasn't progressed at all, so why not see what Mitchell might do. He may fail, but how much worse than MoMass can he be? IMHO, too many Browns' Fans have grown to accept mediocrity (or less) as a "safe" choice.

Let's see what happens in Training Camp & pre-season. There's a reason they have kept Mitchell around. I'd like to see what that is.

Mitchell has also been hurt for much of his time here, so perhaps the powers that be may want to see how he can do if he is ever healthy.

If I made any mistakes in Names, or you don't agree with my roster, please reply below.

Hardesty will be the main backup to Richardson with Jackson coming in as a "third down back", which I believe is an asinine term.

I believe Smelley will be the opening day starter at FB.

    The WR corps will be:

    1- Greg Little

    2- Mohamed Massaquoi

    3- Cribbs/Norwood

    4- Travis Benjamin/Carlton Mitchell

    5- Josh Cooper/ Carlton Mitchell

Shurmur has said recently he really likes Norwood in the slot, and I believe that is primarily where he'll play alongside Cribbs. MoMass so far has impressed at OTA's/minicamp and I believe if he can get this concussion thing in the pst he could be a solid #2. Cooper is the wild card, because of his history with Weeden. He could skyrocket up the depth chart, but I doubt it.

James Michael-Johnson will start opening day for Fujita if fujita is suspended. He's had a good rookie camp and is impressing coaches. He's versatile, having played at Sam, Mike and Will so he could be a good utility guy as well.

I pretty much agree with everything else except Winn will be ahead of Paxson on the depth chart and Skrine will be the primary nickelback,

QB - McCoy is a backup at a good price, cut Wallace.

1: I see Smelley making the final roster over Alex Smith. Smith only works as a blocking TE, Smelly works as a versatile H Back who can play FB and a balanced TE spot. He is at least just as good at blocking and is much better at receiving. Seeing as how Marecic was injured a lot last year it would make sense to keep someone on the final roster who can play both TE and FB.

2: Hagg didn't do great but he did much better than what a 7th round pick should have done. I like what his coach in Nebraska said about him. He said he would be good in the NFL if he would just finally realize how naturally talented he is. Apparently Hagg doesn't think too highly of himself but has great ability. Means he is always working hard to make himself better. Oh and he isn't too undersized to play CB, if anything he is too big. 6'1 210 pounds.

3:You cut Wallace because he has no upside. His ability is degrading and he didn't have a lot to begin with. Basically what you get is a shorter QB who has mobility. We have that with McCoy and Lewis too who are much cheaper and have more upside as young guys.

Because we only have six offensive linemen worth mentioning. We are probably the most shallow at OL in the league.

But you're sure as shit not going into the season with only 6 OL.

Why mention the bottom of the barrel taxi squadders we throw in as the season progresses?

The six mentioned are the six we've invested time and money into.

If you've got six luxury cars and another 4 beat up POS's, you're not going to include the 4 POS's when someone asks what you're driving. You just say "...and these are my work cars".

  • Mitchell still drops everything. He wont make the team at this rate. Braylon had great size and speed, but sucked because he can't catch.

Because the thread is who makes the final roster, not who have the Browns invested time and money into.

I know this because the OP listed the entire depth chart for every other position except for OL. Unless you're trying to say the FO has invested more time and money into their 3rd string RB (Ogbonnaya) and 4th string DE (Emmanuel Stephens) and TE (Alex Smith) than on backup OL...

I am trying to say that the FO has invested more in Ogbannaya and Alex Smith than the OL, because it's true.

The backup OL had been a patchwork of cast offs and retreads and for the most part has been different every year. The lack of depth all over, OL included, had been a key problem for the past 6 years.

Honestly, the final roster behind the 6 already listed can't be named at this point, because some of them more than likely aren't on the roster yet to begin with.

John Greco? Oniel Cousins? Lou Groza?

Could be anyone on there. Makes no difference. You're nitpicking to nitpick about a team that you don't like or care about, so why bother?

Who's the backup longsnapper for the Skins?

    And more importantly, who cares?

I haven't heard about him having a drop problem in camp. I heard he was doing as good if not better than MoMass.

15 second google search bro....try it sometime. these are just snippets eluding to his continued inability to catch a football. yet, they become more than snippets when its all thats being reported. purge the fluff piece about this kid from your brain and just see it for what it is....a 6th round pick with high upside that never realized it. everyone is so quick to dump Mo due to low productivity, but then they get all dreamy eyed when thinking about a WR prospect thats fast and cant catch. its perplexing....its not like he's dropping the tough ones. its alarming that he's getting hit square in the chest....and dropping balls with no defenders. but yeah, he's gonna be fucking awesome!

sorry if im getting sick of the same old bullshit week in, week out....year in, year out.

Nevertheless, he is right, the Browns WILL have more that 6 OL on this team, and they will expect more that the main 6 to contribute. JT, Pinkston, Mack, Lauvao, and The Schwartz and Ryan Miller are the 6, but they will still need backup OGs and OTs. I suspect Cousins and Greco will still be there. They were backups last year. And they WILL need to play at times, including often on special teams.

  • No doubt. The Browns will carry 9-10 on the unit, so it is moronic to ask about the roster, then list 6 players and write it off as the others aren't important or won't be carried. and we will simply go with 6 players.

It doesn't matter if you like your punter or not, you are going to carry one.

Like it or not, you are going to keep 9 O-linemen around. I've seen 8 carried before, but that is pretty damn thin. 9 minimum. 10 if you have a guy you like and fear trying to move him on the practice squad.

Getting kind of old saying this to so many people on this board but pull the corn cob out of your ass. I just said that I haven't heard anything negative about him thus far. I've never been one to hand anyone anything on this team they haven't earned, especially Mitchel.

Oh and how is that any different than what they are writing about any other WR on the team right now. In both articles I read about drops by MoMass and Little.
