Hall Of Fame Other Wr Dynamic Duos
-
A few others, some of which may be a stretch to call "Dynamic". Not the first one:
Fred Biletnikoff/Cliff Branch Raiders add HOF TE Dave Casper
Jerry Rice and Dwight Clark 49ers
Don Maynard and George Saurer Jets
Ricky Sanders and Gary Clark Redskins
Chad Johnson (Ochocinco) and TJ Houshmanzadeh?
How about Denvers "Three Amigos", though I can't remember their names.
I think I mentioned Warfield and Collins (Collins is Browns all time leader in TD catches)
-
Kevin Johnson and Dennis Northcutt? Anyone... Anyone?
They had some productivity together, but no one will ever confuse them with Collins/Warfield, or even:
Langhorne and Slaughter.
If we were to just list Browns duos you would have to perhaps have this rank:
Warfield/Collins
Lavelli/Mac Speedie
Slaughter/Langhorne
Dave Logan/Reggie Rucker
Anyone else worth mentioning? Yes, I thought of one: Braylon Edwards and Joe Jurevicius for one year, 2007, were fairly dynamic.

Loved the Raiders back then. Biletnikoff had the best hands ever, and Branch could fly.
-
Irvin and Novacek (wr/te) Dallas Cowboys
Produced plenty of SB wins together, along with Emmit and Troy of course.
-
A couple other worth mentioning:
Lofton and Reed in Buffalo, although Lofton was toward the end of his career.
Jerry Rice and Terrell Ownes played together 5 years. Although Rice was winding down and Owens was winding up, they had some big years together and would be the most prolific duo to be teammates in history.
Swann & Stallworth would be the best example of a duo that "grew up together" and the Marx Brothers, Clayton and Duper, would be another.

Both of the above could certainly end up as HOF duos.

Who was the other WR on that team? As the thread said, this is WR duos.
-
Some may not count this duo, but I'll list Raymond Berry (WR) & Lenny Moore (WR/HB) of the old Baltimore Colts.
Lenny was a super athletic runner & receiver while Berry was a long shot to even PLAY in the NFL. He had one leg shorter than the other (wore special shoes), wasn't very fast, but he was known for his precise patterns & "glue fingers". Even though I have always been a Brown's fan, I always admired Berry & HATED to see Moore play against us.
Mike
I never thought of Moore as a WR....though no doubt he was a good pass catcher. Sort of an early day Marshall Faulk. Speaking of which: Faulk with Bruce and Holt on the same team. No wonder they were the "Greatest Show on Turf".
Match up Berry with John Mackey as well.

Lenny Moore wasn't a "receiving specialist" type back. When he lined up as a Flanker, running the ball was not an option. That's why I viewed him as a HB/WR & listed him. As a kid, I remember Lenny being mentioned more in the same breath as the great receivers. As great a RB as he was, he was never compared to Jimmy Brown. Moore was always considered a "2 position" player without peer.

Who said this:
"I guess you could add in WR/TE duos. Certainly the likes of HOF Charlie Joiner and HOF Kellen Winslow comes to mind."

Yea, but you added Aikman and Emmitt Smith. That was what I was responding to.

Ricky Sanders and Gary Clark Redskins
I wouldn't put Ricky Sanders in there, but I would pair Gary Clark with Art Monk.
Monk's already in the HOF. Clark is 28th all time in receiving yards, 45th in receiving TDs, and 36th in receptions.
Ricky Sanders was good, but Monk would have been the second part of that duo.

I thought the "Fun Bunch" was primarily the Sanders/Clark duo? No?
Who were "The Smurfs". Wasn't that Washington? Or someone else.

The Fun Bunch was Art Monk, Virgil Seay, Charlie Brown, Alvin Garrett, and tight ends Rick Walker and Don Warren. The Smurfs were an offset of that group made up of Seay, Garrett, and Brown - they were all 5'10 and under.
Clark's rookie season was in 1985, the year after the Fun Bunch's celebration of a group high five started being flagged as excessive celebration, which effectively ended them being known as that.
Monk and the Fun Bunch were a part of all three Super Bowl teams. Clark and Sanders were around for the last two.

OK, thanks for straightening that out. Could you conceive of any team today having most of their WRs being 5'10 or under? Not likely to happen. People complained when the Browns took Travis Benjamin in the draft for being too short at 5/10.

Unfortunately, I can.
Redskins had Moss and Antwaan Randle El as our number 1 and number 2 receivers for a few years. Both were 5'10

Height is only an issue if you are talking about a receiver that lacks talent. There are plenty of good recivers that are short. I can't see a team being comprised of sub 5'10 receivers, but under 6' isn't out of the question. I don't think the Pats had any tall receivers last year, atleast that played a significant role. I don't remember the Giants having any giant receivers either. Did Peyton ever have any tall receivers with the Colts? I don't think the Steeles have had a tall receiver since Burress in 04. Having a tall receiver is uselful because most corners are short, but the position that absolutely demands height is the TE. I can't see a 5'10 TE catching passes anywhere but the flat.

You're right about the Pats, but the Giants had Nicks (6'1). Colts and Steelers haven't had anyone of significance over 6'0.

A towering 6'1.

No offense, just messin with ya.
