If you'd like gay pride parades to be about acceptance from mainstream people, whoever those people are, that's fine. They can all walk down the street in suits and ties. But the parades are about gay pride, not what you think they should be doing to make you feel better about them. I figured you to be more of a "live and let live" type, someone who would say, "Hey, not my cup of tea, but whatever blows your hair back!" but I guess not.

I'd say some of it is counterproductive to making some "regular" people think you're just like them, yes. Rollerblading around inside an oversize condom and spraying people with a super soaker doesn't do much for gay rights. But so what? Not every moment in a gay person's life has to be designed to make others feel more comfortable about them being gay. If they want to have a day where they go a little over the top, why should you give a shit? That's what they want to do, and it's not hurting anyone. Besides, it's not about them changing so that other people accept them; it's about other people accepting them for who they are.
Right?
Plus, where is it listed that being pro-gay rights means you think every gay person is incredible? It just means you think they're the same.
