The Raiders have 2 pro bowlers. How many do you guys have? LOL Some chump said you guys are heading in the right direction and that the raiders aren't. The Raiders are riding a 2 game win streak into the offseason with an impressive win over the Bucs who needed a win to make the playoffs. The Browns only have talent on offense and your two best players will be gone before next season or after! Yeah you guys are headed in the right direction. You play in maybe the toughest division in football and you guys are leaps and bounds away from either the Ravens or the Steelers! You say it's a what have you done for me league, well lately you went 4-12 and we went 5-11! I am going to save this site so I can come back and laugh when Rob Ryan runs your defense even further in to the gorund then it already is! You have not a player on defense NOT ONE! One lucky season for the Browns and everybody wants to be a fan again. Truly sad, we will see when the Raiders come to Cleveland and run through you guys with Fargas/McFadden/Bush! You will probably hold the lead over us going into the 4th quarter when we play next year. However, we will come from behind in dramatic fashion and win the game. THEN you will feel some of the pain Raider fans have had to endure with Ryan as a DC.

Well Browns fans, so you hired Rob Ryan away from us "lowly old Raiders" and feel like you are getting a steal. While other Raider fans are talking smack I thought I would inform you on a few misconceptions about the tenure of Rob Ryan defense.
2004 - The Raiders sign Rob Ryan to bring the 3-4 into Oakland signing ancient NT Ted Washington to team with ancient Bobby Hamilton and then go out and sign.... Warren Sapp. Well we all know Al was into his screw Chucky mode back then and overpaid for a guy who never finished a season in 4 with the Raiders. With terrible DE's trying to be OLB, the 3-4 lasts about 11 games and the Raiders end up near the bottom of the barrell in total and run defense.
2005 - Infused with Pro Bowl DE Derrick Burgess, Washington, Sapp, rookie LB Kirk Morrison, CBs Charles Woodson and Nnamdi Asomugha(not quite where he is now), the Raiders have their "best" defense under Ryan and it still falls near the bottom of the league, especially against the run.
2006 - I know you Browns fans see that #3 overall and #1 pass ranking as a sign that Ryan can do something but that ranking is about as solid as an Art Modell's word. Btw, if you want to look at how his defense does in crunch time, look no further than the game where an offense belonging to a certain Ohio team, marched down with about a minute left due to the soft prevent, got Kiffin'd by a timeout and had the second kick blocked to let the Raiders win. After the year, Kiffin wants to fire Ryan, even telling him he's gone so he can bring in his dad. Wow, I'm sure glad Al blocked that move.

Russell reminds me of Duante Culpepper. It doesn't matter if you can throw the ball 80 yards in the air, other things are more important, like accuracy and reading defenses.

THIKA I find it funny that someone who is a Browns fan can call another franchise helpless. Since you guys have so many super bowl rings. Or for that matter played in so many super bowls. Your owner is a joke. You make references to Al Davis, and that is fine. Although if you knew anything about football you would know that Al Davis has done more for the NFL then any other owner. His work for the African American quarterback and work during the AFL/NFL merger has made the NFL what it is today. Not to mention the fact that your team had just hired another coach from the Belicheck regime in Mangini without hiring a GM first. So instead you guys are going to go after a guy from Baltimore who is from the same mold as Phil Savage. As far as Rob Ryan goes, you couldn't be more wrong about what you are getting. First you must understand his defensive scheme. It is a man to man defense which success is based upon a 4 man pass rush. Considering Wimbley hasn't panned out like Browns fans would like, you guys are going to run into the same problems Oakland had. You guys will get rid of your 3-4 defense, because like the Raiders you don't have the personnel to run that scheme. Ryan will bring a 4-3 man to man passive defense to your team. There shouldn't be any mention of "aggressive" when speaking of his defense. because that isn't what you are getting. Now as far as Crennel goes as a Raider fan I DON'T want him as a coordinator. He is a defensive minded coach who couldn't build a competent unit through the draft. He is kind of like Marvin Lewis in Cincinnati. You can't survive long in the NFL is the unit that you specialize in struggles.
I think you are a very ignorant fan who wouldn't survive on a board like Raiderfans.net. Not to mention that fact that Raider fans are the most loyal and hardcore fans int he NFL or for any sport for that matter. To all other Browns fan good luck with the upcoming season. Honestly, of all the fans of the NFL, I'd have to say that Cleveland fans are in straight up denial (worse than Detroit fans) about their team. They're so much in denial, that they believe that Rob "Not Rex" Ryan will turn their precious Browns' defense into Baltimore's. It's comedic.

Just got an email back from a friend (who isn't one in the fall b/c he's a Broncos fan) saying after losing Leatherface the only good news he's gotten over the holiday is that "Ryan would be leaving the AFC West."
Dude is a good fan & friend. Smart guy too. I specifically sent him the email requesting his thoughts on Ryan. Just another solid confirmation for me on the Ryan hire from another arm-chair warrior.
