Serious Question

You will be just fine as long you are respectful.

My daughter lives in Philadelphia, and they are some of the worst fans in the NFL. I went to a Browns/Eagles game in Cleveland when Garcia was QB and there were quite a few Eagles fans there, some drove up in big vans painted with the Eagles colors. Cleveland almost won the game. A whole group of about 20 Eagles fans were sitting about 10 rows up from my brother and I. They were assholes, turning around giving the finger to the crowd, and people started throwing shit at them. Then the 250 lb deputies started rounding people up and taking them away. So I'd say as long as you act civil, you will be fine. Don't hang around a group of idiots, or you may be considered part of the gang.

I hate those types, no matter the color of their jerseys.. thanks. I'll wear it and behave as I always do, hoping to have a nice time in cleveland no matter the outcome of the game!

Wear the Vick jersey. Pay no attention to that ring of pit bulls around the stadium. They only attack animal abusers.

Well I love animals so I guess I'd be safe! Judge the man, not the jersey! Thanks.

That sounds great and all ... but after 8 or 15 beers do you think the denizens will be judging th man or the jersey?

All I got is my green vick jersey.. how about I cover it with a jacket when around drunken fans? ^^

Hi Browns fans!
I'm traveling to USA in september and I've got tickets in section 107 or 104 I think, for the first game of the season vs the Eagles. It just so happens to be that I am an Eagles fan, and I was wondering how you'd react to seeing a Vick-jersey in and around the stadium. I've never been to USA, nor have I any idea of how you treat opposing fans. The culture in Europe is quite special, if I'd wear the wrong jersey in the wrong part of the stadium they'd surely, if I'm lucky, just be assholes to me for the entire duration of the game. So basically, I wanna know if it's accepted to wear an Eagles jersey in and around the arena, getting a boo or two doesn't matter but I'd rather not have to be afraid. Specially since I'm just visiting, I'm afraid if anything gets stirred up I'll be standing with the short straw with the law..
Please, answer seriously!

If you aren't a dick, I'll stick up for you.
This whole notion of "home turf" is gang like mentality.....I don't have that. This is America.....you can root for anybody you want.....again, unless you are a dick who might get his ass kicked anyway.
As for the law, USA laws are pretty just. You aren't going to be holding the short stick because you are from Sweden and were merely defending yourself.
You have people on your side.....I being one of them.
You'll be just fine.

^^agree. if i was there i would do the same.
most humans have the ability to have the intuition when things are are going to/or about to go to shit. always watch your back no matter where you are.
biggest lesson i was ever taught when going into a (maybe) hostile place is always keep your back to the wall so everything is in front of you and you can see what's going on. this of course is bar talk. i would think you would have no problem in cleveland unless you were walking down the street drunk with your vick jersey on screaming drunk talk like "where's the dawg pound now?" type shit.
stay sober and keep a keen eye open.
that being said..american fans from philly are the worse period. football and baseball (basketball not so much because they've been about as irrelevant as the cavs have been in the last 20 years...LB withstanding). they actually have a city jail, sober tank and judge to hear arraignment hearings on the mezzanine level of qualcomm stadium.
2 flyer fans beat an off duty jersey cop (wearing his devil jersey) half to death earlier this year. don't know if they were ever found but god bless 'em when they are.

American football fans can't hold a candle to the exploits of the European soccer hooligans. Where
else can you and your 50 member posse have street brawls with the opposition's gangs before and after
the game? I don't seem to recall any American football stadiums going up in flames during a game or
having a game suspended because hundreds of fans were throwing down with sticks and molatov cocktails
against local law enforcement in the stands. And we sure haven't experienced human waves of fans busting
through bleacher rails and ending up in a pile of carnage on the pitch. Hell, your visit to Cleveland will
be a walk in the park. BTW, watch your beer consumption because Billy do=gooder will call the beer hotline
to report your over drinking. You will see the signs posted everywhere in the stadium encouraging assholes to
contact the too-much-fun authorities when they see a fan having alittle too good of a time tossing back 8 dollar,
luke warm, plastic cups of beers or 10 dollar shots of Makers Mark. Had you come in the 70's or 80's you
could have witnessed Browns fans at their best (worst?) as they enjoyed the wide open atmosphere of Cleveland
Muni stadium. Michael Vick did his time in prison for his misdeeds and seems to have been rehabilitated. I
don't see any issue wearing his jersey.

The drunk guys who wanna stand all game and actually cheer for our team have been getting thrown out the last few years, fuck that place.

Come and join us at the tailgate party - we might take the piss out of you but we will also make sure you get a drink and friendly conversation.

You can exclude me as part of that "we".

You will be safer wearing a Vick Jersey to a Browns game in Cleveland than you would be wearing the same jersey in Philly.
That said, if I may be so bold and if no one else has done so you are welcome to attend the Browns Board tailgate party on the morning of the game. And you can wear your Vick jersey. for God's sake we even allow Steelers and Bengals fans to show up, so why would we care about an Eagles fan (even if one of my heroes, The Dude, hates the Fucking Eagles...the band that is).
You would like it. We will have an International crowd there. Our friends from England are coming in, and we often get people from Canada, and other parts of the world. You are especially welcome if you bring the Swedish ladies ski team.
Check out the Tailgate Forum on this board for directions. We hope to see you.

Tailgating sounds like fun, though I have absolutely no clue of what to bring etc. I'll be flying in, without any of my swedish ladies I'm afraid (sorry to disappoint), so I'll have no car of my own

I'll be landing @ 10:40 AM though so not much time to meet up!For real? are you coming in from Sweden on the day of the game and landing in Hopkins at 10.40??? I strongly suggest you look to fly in on the Saturday - one delay on your connections and you will miss the game.
Are you really getting in on the Sunday at 10.40!!! Swede, that's pure crazy.

Bugger all of NY/LA/Chicago. You want to see America, stay in Cleveland where the real people are.
