    From yesterday's NY Post

Sapp: Belichick had odd way of expressing draft interest

    11:57 AM, August 22, 2012 ι POST STAFF REPORT

Bill Belichick really, really wanted to draft Warren Sapp.

So bad, Sapp said Tuesday on ESPN Radio’s Scott Van Pelt Show, that the current Patriots coach, then with the Browns, told him, “I want to draft you so bad that I have an erection right now.”

The Browns ended up trading the 10th pick of the 1995 draft and Sapp, a defensive tackle, went 12th to the Buccaneers, where he had an incredible career – seven Pro Bowls, six All-Pro honors and a Super Bowl in 2003.

"[belichick was] like, 'I just wanna tell you this before I go,’” Sapp told Van Pelt. “He said, 'I want to draft you so bad that I have an erection right now.' I'm like, 'Are you kidding me?' He said, 'But [then Browns GM] Mike Lombardi will not let me draft you'."

Belichick was fired after the 1995 season and, of course, landed in New England after assistant coaching stints with the Pats and Jets. He’s won three Super Bowls with the Patriots and appeared in the game five times.

No word on if Belichick found it hard to get over not taking Sapp back in ’95.

Why would the New York Post even waste time writing something like this?

Interesting - but would Sapp had been effective in a 3-4?

That tenth pick they traded ended up turning into Ray Lewis so I'd say Lombardi did well.

Who did the 49ers take at 10# passing on Sapp and eventually Lewis? JJ Stokes.

Who oversaw football operations for this decision? Carmen Policy.

Who did the Browns hire 4 years later to run their operations? ^^ 😵
