I Have A Feeling Weeden Will Turn It On Next Week

  • I agree. It will get to double digit rating this time. 🙄

  • The 4 interceptions is misleading, one was because of a bad deflection off of the receiver, one was Benjamin not fighting for the ball at all, Weeden threw a nice fade but Travis has to fight for that ball he can't just let the defender reach over him and pick it off, and the last interception although it wasn't a great choice, again the receiver has to fight for that ball. It wasn't Weeden I was worried about, it's the porous o-line and the very passive receivers, massaquoi is the only one that looked actually ready to play, never thought I'd say that. And I could care less about Weeden getting picked off deep because that means he can actually throw a deep ball unlike McCoy. Give him time he will be fine

  • Hahahahaha Arod can also throw the deep ball maybe we should sign him?

  • In all seriousness, should Cleveland draft another QB this draft? Weeden will soon to be 29, so even if he pans out he's got ~7 good years left in him. Mccoy's contract is up this season, I have no idea what will happen there. Is Thaddeus Lewis going to be groomed to be a starting QB or will be just be a 3rd stringer?

  • The only positive I'm taking from that game: Despite watching perhaps the worst offensive game of football ever (and that's watching DA), we almost beat a serious playoff and super bowl contender on our defense alone. IF (big if) Weeden turns around even slightly there's a much better chance of winning some games.

yeah a super bowl contender who didn't bring their A game considering they were playing one of the worse teams in the nfl. we've done it before. beat the shit out of a great team on both sides of the ball because 'they' came into cleveland thing it would be a cake walk. we still sucked. then and now.

sure there were bright spots..........all on the defensive side of the ball. why spend a #3 pick (with other picks thrown in to move up) on a RB when our line can't open a bag of popcorn? why draft a QB #2 when we weren't going to make it to the playoffs anyways. those picks could have garnered us future 1st and 2nd round picks.

well here' to hoping this Oline can get it together or else it could be a very bad and unhealthy year for those 2 guys.

  • I got a feeling all the dopes who have been in favor of the Julio Jones trade are going to be eating major crow by the end of this season.

  • I have a feeling weeden will play so bad and shurmur will still with him.

He will get hurt and browns fans will cheer and he will cry like a little baby.

  • You mean this is not a Superbowl QB?

  • I also think Weeden will be ok. He has a great arm, but still has to read Ds & make good decisions. Different folks learn in different ways. Maybe his way of learning is "OJT" followed by studying film of his own play. Time will tell. I still think he needed a solid veteran WR out there, or get Cribbs in....he WILL fight for the ball. Also, Quincy Morgan, er Greg Little, needs to understand that actually CATCHING the ball is what he is paid to do.

Yesterday you said F weeden, he sucks, draft a QB next year, now this? Bipolar?

shut up, troll. It's called speaking with emotions after the game.

Then don't post after a game. Problem solved.

I'll do it if I want. Don't read my threads then. Problem solved.

  • He is NOT this bad, guys. Maybe he won't do it next game, maybe he will (I think he will), but at some point during this season he is going to show us why we drafted him so high (and would have gone higher had it been not for his age). This CAN'T be the REAL Brandon Weeden. No way, no how. He WILL improve. Remember Eli Manning SUCKED his rookie year until the last three games or so. Have some faith Brown's fans, our Defense will keep us in the game. I'm still shooting for 7-9. Yes, really.

The reason why we drafted him so high is cos we are idiots. There was no threat of him being taken and we could have had him in the second round. The Bengals played well in the first half against the Ravens. It will be the same old story.

  • Weeden had the worst single game performance I have ever seen out of a QB.

Nah- didn't Anderson have a game with a ZERO qb rating?

I bet he will double, no, TRIPLE his QB rating in a single week!

    Piss poor analysis IMO...

Several times he threw his receivers into harms way including the pass to Little. He starred him down, the Safety was closing as Wheeeedon "wound up" (yup, he does) and Little got blasted.

Not sure which Cromartie pick while covering Benjamin you are referring to, but one was inside when Benjamin was outside... no way Benjamin out jumps a 6'2" DB for a 50/50 ball and the pick I'm referring to was no where near 50/50.

As for the "last one"... no one on the planet could jump high enough to snare that ball and you can' fight for what you can't reach.

  • I'm not sure what will happen with Weeden, and as a life long Oklahoma State fan I of course wanted to see the kid succeed. However the 300lb gorilla that nobody wanted to discuss when he was here was how he reacted, and dealt with pressure. Having watched every game Brandon played in college I think it was evident to anyone half way objective that he didn't perform that well with defenders swarming around him, which didn't happen very often. At Oklahoma State Weeden was able to throw with a dominant offensive line in front of him, and a system that allowed him to get the ball out of there quickly. More often than not when there was someone in his face he didn't do very well, and I'm sure that's not what Browns fans are going to want to hear. When he was drafted all I could think about was how is he going to deal with NFL caliber defensive pressure?

Obviously the first attempt out of the box was a disaster, and unless he shows me something different I'm afraid you're going to see more of the same for a while. I'm not ready to throw the kid in the trash heap just yet because he may adjust with flying colors, it's just that he really never had to deal with much adversity so this is all new territory for him. What I do know is that he can throw the football as well or better than most out there, and he has been a proven winner. I'd like to see what he does for a few weeks before casting him aside, and if he can figure out how to throw with people around him you've got something. What I'm most concerned about is the way the Browns staff prepared him for this season, as it seems they didn't do him any favors by hiding him from the dangers of what he'll be facing week in and week out.

If they get first pick do you take Barkley or Woods?? I think if you throw Barkley into this mess of a offense he will look just as bad as McCoy and Weeden at some point we have to get outside weapons that can catch the ball. I think you take Woods and give _________ some weapons..

  • Wow OSUbrownsfan, good post. I've been saying the same thing for a while now..The big 12 has fallen apart as of late, they lack defense, and he had Blackmon to throw to. Im not bashing Oklahoma state as I dont really care much for college ball after last year. Hopefully you've been a browns fan all along and you're not just following them now because of Weeden because after this year with our new owner....we all know how that goes: New owner, new coaching staff, new coach wants "his" guy playing QB..Repeat every 2 years.

  • I admit to jumping on board for what may be the short term hoping to see Weeden continue his great story, and help turn one of the league's classic franchises in the right direction. So what I witnessed during the exhibition games, and game 1 of the regular season was definitely not what I wanted to see from Brandon. You're dead on when it comes to the Big 12 defenses, at times the conference has resembled a glorified 7 on 7 passing league with once proud programs looking inept defensively. Weeden took full advantage of the Big 12's current defensive state, and with his gun teamed with a first round NFL receiver it was target practice. He would go long stretches without even having a hand in his face, and so objective Oklahoma State fans wondered what would happen when the boy in the bubble entered the real world. This will undoubtedly be painful for the Kool-aid drinking OSU football fans because he has been our version of "The Natural". The last time most Oklahomans had seen the kid play was his last high school playoff game for Edmond Santa Fe when he re-emerged like Roy Hobbs in the second half of an Oklahoma State home game against Colorado a few years ago to save the day. I remember wondering where Brandon had been all those years, and now here he was firing lasers all over the field.

I hope I'm wrong about how I see this ending.
