That is not what I had in mind, but I should probably give you credit for it.

Total guess, but how about no logo and an orange helmet with a black and white stripe. It was rejected because it looked too much like the Browns helmet.

Those are not the two I am looking for....but probably valid answers nonetheless. Reid was a concert pianist if I am not mistaken.

    4. Bengals "sister" AFL expansion team:

Do you mean the Dolphins who came in a couple years earlier?

Yes, Dolphins. They and the Bengals were a year or two apart, but those two were the only AFL expansion teams after the original 8 AFL teams.

    1. What helmet logo design AND color scheme did Paul Brown reject when the Bengals were first formed in 1967? Gotta get the colors for this.

    4. What was the Bengals "sister team" in AFL expansion in 1967?

    5. What is the name of the Bengals Tiger mascot?

    6. What distinction does one of the Bengals Cheerleaders hold?

    7. The Bengals actually have one radio affiliate located in Northeast Ohio. Where does that affiliate broadcast from?

    8. What is the Browns/Bengals head to head record?

    9. In postseason play the Bengals have met 3 different teams on two occasions each. What are those three teams.?

    10. Two current starting QBs for other NFL teams at one time played for The Bengals. Name the two.

    11. Two of perhaps the 5 or 10 biggest first round QB busts in history were taken by The Bengals. Name these two QBs.

    Answers:

    1. What helmet logo design AND color scheme did Paul Brown reject when the Bengals were first formed in 1967? Gotta get the colors for this.

The design per se was almost exactly like the one they use now, with the tiger stripes. However the color scheme that was proposed was aqua and yellow. Yes, aqua and Yellow.

Paul Brown instead decided to mimic the Browns uniforms...except with black instead of seal brown and the helmet would just use the word Bengals on it.

    2. Paul Brown developed a draft strategy with the Bengals of taking players he felt were highly intelligent. What two players did he draft in his first three years with the Bengals that reflected this strategy. Name the players and the colleges they were from.

Though some of your answers are legit, like Mike Reid, the two "eggheads" I was looking for were the Ivy Leaguers that PB drafted:

    Pat McInally from Harvard

    Reggie Williams from Dartmouth.

    3. Within a margin of error tbd, what was Paul Browns record as the HC of the Bengals?

    PB was 55-56-1

    4. What was the Bengals "sister team" in AFL expansion in 1967?

The Dolphins were the only other AFL expansion team besides the Bengals to join the AFL pre-1970 merger.

    5. What is the name of the Bengals Tiger mascot?

    Who Dey.......How Dumb

    6. What distinction does one of the Bengals Cheerleaders hold?

Laura Vikmanis at 40 is the oldest ever cheerleader for an NFL squad.

    7. The Bengals actually have one radio affiliate located in Northeast Ohio. Where does that affiliate broadcast from?

    WTIG in Massillon

    8. What is the Browns/Bengals head to head record?

Bengals lead now 41-36 (thanks to the inept Lerner ownership?)

    9. In postseason play the Bengals have met 3 different teams on two occasions each. What are those three teams.?

Raiders, Jets, and of course the 49ers in the two Super Bowls.

    10. Two current starting QBs for other NFL teams at one time played for The Bengals. Name the two.

The two I know of are Ryan Fitzpatrick and Carson Palmer.

Someone said John Skelton. I will have to check to see if he ever was on the Bengals roster.

    11. Two of perhaps the 5 or 10 biggest first round QB busts in history were taken by The Bengals. Name these two QBs.

David Klingler was 4-20 as a starting QB and Akili Smith was 3-14.

    12. In their history the Bengals defense ranked the highest in the NFL the two years they went to the Super Bowl, 1981 and 1988. Who was their defensive coordinator in those years?

Dick LeBeau. I guess the shame for the Bengals was that they promoted him to HC. He is one of the great assistant coaches of all time, but not a good HC.

  • PFR shows that Arizona is the only team John Skelton has played for. Never on the Bengals.

  • Gip,

One other Bengals QB was a "bust", albeit through no fault of his own, Greg Cook.

Kid came out of UC as a proverbial "house-a-fire" in '69 and then his shoulder was injured. Although he finished his rookie season and then had surgery, he was never the same again. No such thing as arthroscopic surgery back then.
