For those of you who think that You Know Who (I will treat him like Voldemort and not even mention his name) belongs in the HOF, I think he would have to wait in a long line.

Following is a list of candidates who have waited to get in but did not make it yet, by order of the number of times they have been HOF Finalists:

    Jerry Kramer 10

    Bob Kuechenberg 8

    Charley Conerly 7

    Ray Guy 7

    Johnny Robinson 6

    Andre Reed 6

    L.C. Greenwood 6

    Chris Carter 5

    Lester Hayes 4

    Claude Humphrey 4

    Clark Shaughnessy 3

    Mac Speedie 3

    Bill Parcells 3

    Charles Haley 3

    Tim Brown 3

    Paul Tagliabue 3

    George Young 3

    Ken Stabler 3

    Dick Stanfel 2

    Jerome Bettis 2

    Marshall Goldberg 2

    Randy Gradishar 2

    Ken Anderson 2

    Gene "Big Daddy" Lipscomb 2

    Tony Morabito 2

    Duke Slater 2

    Beattie Feathers 1

    Ole Haugsrud 1

    Roosevelt Grier 1

    Jim Tyrer 1

    Blanton Collier 1

    Lou Rymkus 1

    Lee Roy Jordan 1

    Willie Gallimore 1

    Donnie Shell 1

    Jim Marshall 1

    Cliff Harris 1

    Fred Dean 1

    Roger Craig 1

    Don Coryell 1

    Ed DeBartolo Jr. 1

    Kevin Greene 1

    Will Shields 1

    Aeneas Williams 1

    Art Modell 1

In the next few years, the following persons will be eligible:

2013 Larry Allen, Morten Andersen, Priest Holmes, Steve McNair, Jonathan Ogden, Warren Sapp, Michael Strahan, Bryant Young, Corey Dillon, Keyshawn Johnson (plus several from the upper will still be on the ballot)

2014 Tony Dungy, Marvin Harrison, Daunte Culpepper, Warrick Dunn, Shaun Alexander Mhusin Muhammed, Drew Bledsoe

2015 Isaac Bruce, Edgerrin James, Walter Jones, Ty Law, Kevin Mawae, Orlando Pace, Junior Seau, Kurt Warner, Jamal Lewis, Rod Smith, Joey Galloway, Darren Sharper

2016: Brett Favre, Terrell Owens, Fred Taylor, Brian Westbrook.

There may be others that were overlooked. There are a max 7 spots per year. Tell me, whose spot is a one time finalist going to take?

I will never undestand why Cris Carter isn't in, or Tim Brown

This next year the ballot will be loaded with Carter, Reed, Brown still on the ballot along with Sapp, Strahan, Allen, Ogden, McNair etc.

A few of those will probably have to wait until the following year when the newbies are not a very impressive group, with only Harrison a bona fide.

They better get those 4 WRs in if they are going in before Moss and T.O. become eligible. Again, though, I see no room for You Know Who....but then if I were deadheading an oil tanker I wouldn't see room on board for him.

To be fair you really have to eliminate the players from the list as executives/special contributors are sort of a different level.

I know 7 is the max, but none the less I still feel there is a bit of separation between the two.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

That's why I've always said there should be an owners\ contributors\ coaches wing to the hall- just like there's a writer's wing in the Baseball HOF. There's damn few that rate in that category IMHO. Halas, Lambeau, and Shula is the short list.

Modell gets voted in- they can put his bust in a urinal out in the parking lot as far as I'm concerned. Steve Sabol should go in before Schmodell.

You know what? Good ole Ole had a career that was somewhat later mimicked by The Recently Departed (ref: Beetlejuice):

Ole Haugsrud (May 13, 1900 – March 13, 1976) was an American sports executive. Haugsrud was born in Superior, Wisconsin. There is also a field in Superior, Wisconsin called Ole Haugsrud Field. The Superior High School Spartans and University of Wisconsin–Superior Yellowjackets play there. Haugsrud was owner of the Duluth Eskimos in the National Football League in the late-1920s. His signing of Ernie Nevers and having the Eskimos barnstorm, is credited as helping grow the league at critical time. He later sold the team back to the NFL. Part of the deal was that he would have first rights to any future NFL team in the state of Minnesota. Though he passed on a stake in the Minneapolis Red Jackets in 1929, when the NFL expanded to Minneapolis-St. Paul in January 1960, Haugsrud was given 10% ownership. He remained part owner of the Minnesota Vikings until his death in 1976.

The Vikings name and team colors were borrowed from Haugsrud's high school, Central High School in Superior, WI. The Vikings secondary logo that is still in use today is a modified version of Central's original logo.

Interesting, no? That the Vikings logos etc. were duplicated from this guys High School.

Not to be mean GIpper, because for a long time I was really interested in the Modell debate. Now? I honestly couldn't care if they put him in the HOF or not.

My heart is focused on week three of the 2012 season.

                    Go Browns,,,, fuck Modell.

Its OK. What I really wanted to do was to focus on those who I think were/are more deserving.

I mean, Jerry Kramer was a 10 time finalist who never was elected. How frustrating for him. And Conerly 7 times and Kuechenberg 8 times?

With the people soon to be eligible those guys are going to have to wait for the senior committee hopefully to put them in.
