Mario is strictly a LDE and will play over your RT, at least that is what he has been all year.

I have seen them move him around a bit in pre-season and camp, but since the real games started he has been up against the right side with Dareus on the inside of him.

Mark Anderson will go against Joe Thomas with Kyle Williams inside of him.

That would mean keeping Richardson (who's a decent blocker) in to mop up against Mario in passing situations, or chip and go for a swing pass. They might try our FB Marecic, but the opinion is the guy is a worthless POS, both in blocking and about everything else.

I would not mind that at all. I would love to Limit Richardson's Production because he has to draw help assignments against Mario. That would help with the gameplan for the Bills IMO if they see Richardson having to pull help assignments.

Richardson is not the one that should be pulling that assignment. It should be the fullback...but we have one that has proved fairly incapable of any task he is assigned.

I completely understand that is should be a FB, or leaving the TE in to help.

But if Richardson does draw that assignment (poor gameplanning IMO) then it is a plus for the Bills.

Nice to see a civilized discussion with an opposing fan... Who'd a thunk it???

Despite our improved run D vs Cinci, I think both teams will run effectively and it will come down to the passing game... and specifically pass protection.

Both Wheeeden and Fitzpatrick had horrible openers, but bounced back in week 2. Fitz's numbers weren't as glitzy, but he was very efficient. As goes their pass protection so will their performance and the game. Wheeeden has shown he'll stand in there, but no ability to extend plays if pressured. While not nimble, Fitz can scramble if need be... Yes?

Against Philly Jauron sprung some CB and FS blitzes that produced results... against Cinci not much.

Against Vick the front four put on a display of very disciplined pressure... against Dalton not so much... At DT next to Rubin (who is off to a good start) Billy Wynn, our rookie of of Boise St (doesn't every team have a rookie out of Boise St?), will start ahead of Hughes in place of Phil Taylor who's out. Billy's got a motor and brings good pressure up the middle.

Which brings us to my "Key to the Game"... Mario Williams vs Mitchell Schwartz...

What's up with SuperMario? Contract weighing him down? He's not off to the best start with only 3 Tkls and 0 sacks. Sunday he'll be across from our Rookie 2nd rounder, Schwartz... 🙁 I think it's safe to say we are going to try to give him some help. Since our FB hasn't shown much ability to do anything thru 2 wks that could mean Trent R. will be held in the backfield much of the afternoon. You'll also see Brandon Jackson do the same in obvious passing sit's...

Question is.... do the Bills have a DC who can capitalize on the added attention we are sure to give Mario?

On this one he was abused week one but played very well week two against the Chiefs. Though the Stat line is not showing it. Against the Chiefs he was double and triple teamed at times, which left 1 on 1's against the DTs of Kyle Williams and Dareus and they totaled 3 sacks. Additionally, I saw a defense that did take advantage of the extra attention paid to Mario last week with press coverage, some blitzes and heck of alot of inside games. Their Run defense has been steller though the Stat line again does not really show it. Through the entire game last week they really only let up 39 yards until garbage time. Also same with the Jets, played well against the run.

Who is your NO 1 CB with Hayden gone because I would guess that is who would draw Stevie, and what type of game is he an off CB or a Press Guy?

With Hayden gone it would be the old pro, Sheldon Brown (who would challenge Stevie at the line), but Sheldon was held out of last week's game for reasons not clear to anyone... with "anyone" possibly including Shurmur.

If Brown is held out again (and right now he is shown to be starting per our depth chart)... I don't think we have a "number one"... maybe a number 1.5 at best. So as I said earlier, if you can protect Fitz, he'll have a good day... and we may not...

As he was in Houston excepting last year's laughable attempt to convert him to a stand up OLB in Wade Phillip's 3-4. The torn pectoral saved him from embarrassment

Or Jackson may actually see the field this week. He was our designated pass sit blocking RB week 1...

Well, I don't know. One of the things said about TR pre-draft was that he was a complete back. His running skills are obvious, but also he was a good receiver out of the backfield, and he was an excellent blocker.

Let's put it this way: the plus for the Bills would be if the Browns do leave Marecic in to block, because he has yet to prove he is capable.

  • Sheldon Brown had a stinger and was hurting so Shurmur capitalized on that to see what Wade, Skrine and Patterson could do starting.

We all know how that turned out.

  • All I can say is, I don't want to see another 3-0 game, a game that set the world back 15 years.

Buffalo has always been a more refined, educated community than the most other, particularly the yinzers. Almost every other city is...though on occasion you get some brah from some dipshit town like Tampa coming in and making an ass of himself....and he has to quickly be decapitated.

Will Mario be over The Schwartz most of the time, or over JT? If he is flexible, obviously you would want him over the rookie and not the 5 time All Pro.

mario will be lined up against your right tackle the whole game..mario has yet to get a sack so i wouldnt be shocked if he goes all out to get one in this game

  • I just want to say that as a fan of an opposing team it is refreshing to read insight on your team that isn`t biased and is very informative. Obviously being a bills fan i can relate with you guys and am tired of being the laughing stock of the NFL. Anyway this game in my opinion is gonna come down to Fitz and Weeden. Spiller is gonna break a few runs in my opinion he is just that good but the strength of our team is our O-line. But as you guys have stated and i agree Fitz is VERY inconsistent. There are times his accuracy is downright atrocious and then there are halves of games that he just gets on fire. But one area i think you guys can get us is in the quick passing game. Our corners haven`t shown the ability to cover quick passes and not give up a double move or 2. Honestly i do believe our strength is our run D but that is not to say you cant run on us as we havent faced a back the quality of Richardson but if he rumbles for for 120 and gets a td I would be mildly surprised and if that happens throughout a close fought game i believe you guys win.

If this is the case, I think it bodes well for us... If Mario presses to get a sack/ sacks then we'll run delays to the right all day long (instead of simply often) and he'll take himself out of plays. He may well be pressing. Big contracts do that to some players regardless of the sport.

Who's the LB on Mario's side?

If on the other hand he relaxes, plays his game and let's the sacks come... we could be in for a long day.

Thanks but trust me... we have sample bias on this Board. Just for some reason the few Bills fans that have posted threads this week are being treated with respect, in part due to the objective analysis you all have posted, e.g., your post. Seems that like attracts like... Kinda refreshing...

Richardson can block and score touchdowns at the same time, no worries 😛

  • Just wanted to stop in on a monday and say good luck the rest of the season, and it was good to see the Bills close out a game that in the past they lose. It was a little refreshing seeing the team handle adversity with Spiller going out early.

Also I think it would have been a different ball game at times if your WRs could catch a ball.

But either way not here to rub salt..... Good luck the rest of the season.
