How About That Browns Optimism?

I was on all those in this forum who last week were suddenly optimistic, pointing out that a non-close loss to a mediocre team is *not* a good thing, or a reason for optimism.
This week, weeden looks terrible again as he clearly is not a small window nfl thrower. Cut bait with him asap.
If I were the browns owner, I would fire every single person involved with this organization except a handful of players(mostly the non-weeden guys we committed a lot of guaranteed money to) and start from scratch.
this is, once again, one of the worst teams in the nfl. And with brandon weeden at qb it's not going to improve much.

I agree we have no playmakers on off. Trent is slow and the receivers can't catch.

I absolute despise Owen Marecic. He led the team in fumbles and penalties in my Madden franchise, so I traded him to the Eagles for a 7th round pick.
Literally the next game after that Brad Smelley had 150 rushing yards and three TD's.

We knock the Bills best player out of the game, and lose by 10? You Kidding me? Our "stellar" OL line can't open holes, our WR still can't catch a cold.
Face the facts- this team sucks. Holmgren is gone, I will bet the 0-5 Browns will have a new coach when they play the Bengals. You may be willing to put up with this S**t football but I'll bet Haslam won't.

As long as there are no bigtime injuries to any of our opponents. The only game the Browns have a chance to win before the bye-week is @ Indy. They will be 0-9 or 1-8 at the bye-week. If Haslem doesn't fire Schurmer by then, he's no better the Randy "do nothing" Lerner

if there is optimism, it is misplaced.
1) the browns arent rebuilding. They've been "rebuilding" for a long time now. Anytime some browns fan says "well this is rebuilding mode" I want to puke. All I hear is how we are always rebuilding with young guys. Obviously, in this constant cycle of sucking, if we are always "starting to rebuild", there are very clear periods where the prior rebuilding project is over. We never hear about those.....hmmm....
2) This team isn't young in the sense that we don't have lots of good young players. I have no doubt richardson will be a nice back. Whoo f'ing hoo....a running back to build a team around!! Fabulous, maybe we can join Jacksonville in that regard!

Shit i'm just happy we can score a touchdown or two a game. That's a big improvement to me. Last couple of seasons this offense was even worse than it is now.

Oh, maybe he'll get better- maybe not. What worries me more is zero pocket presence- ALA Anderson- he can't feel the pocket collapsing, is taking a bunch of unnecessary sacks. That's something you either have or don't. (McCoy has it- but he can't throw the ball like Weeden) Add a couple of under throws for BW that would have been TDs if he had put 3-5 more yards of air on the ball.
Don't get me started on showboat Little- and some of the other WRs. They're making Weedster look unnecessarily bad- dropping VERY catchable passes.
As the one buzzard said to the other buzzard- "Patience may ass, I'm gonna kill something." You see ANY realistic hope other than an 0-5 start with the Ravens and Giants on the road coming up? hey man, listen. i agree 100% with you. but if mangini had had this talent i think we would have at least one the first 2 games. the problem is that i don't know where the problem lies anymore. TR looks good on a couple of runs a game. scores some TDs...but is that #3 pick good? i'm expecting MONSTER/BEAST ala poetic G. haven't seen that. does the problem lie with weeden? they have a lot younger version of weeden in tannehill in miami. i got the jets feed cuz i live hear. i couldn't tell you how many passes he over threw wide open receivers. BUT their team looked a lot better than ours did today. greg little is a diva. gordon isn't seeing enough time (or he just can't run routes correctly) momass looked the best so far this season and when jordan plays he catches the ball. if we had a slate to clean it would be at the WR position. little is on the verge of pissing everyone off. benjamin has shown he can catch and run. momass will go across the middle and catch if the ball is there. and watson and jordan seem ok as our tes. but our talent i just listed is no where near top pro bowl caliber WR talent. and if the coaching staff can't figure a way to get the football to the guys that can catch, then that's on the coaches.
you could actually spend days trying to figure out all the problems and still be scratching your head. does that mean haslam should blow up the whole thing....maybe. maybe not. only time will tell. and yeah it's been a long time so far.

Not at all. What I see in Richardson- I saw in Kevin Mack on some equally bad Browns teams in the 80s. Hence my dig on the "blowing holes with farts" comments. The guy is getting zero holes to run through. The TD run was a bounce back when the lane was totally closed. Problem is- that can't be blamed anymore on teams stuffing the box- because Weedster showed plenty of deep arm to keep the Bills D honest.
OK, Weeden made some nice throws- and made some terrible ones that cost the Browns the game. He's learning- and I do see promises there. Once again the receivers had a case of dropitis- led by Greg Little.
Nope- it's a TEAM game- and this TEAM- "The Cleveland Browns" might be underdogs if they played Alabama. So Joe Haden is suspended- The Bengals lost a couple starters and managed to beat Washington. Arizona smoked the Eagles out in the desert- see what I mean? We're not only losing, we're losing to VERY beatable teams, and looking like a freaking bad Division III crew in the process. THAT'S what's got me honked off. Shurmur got a pass last year, new system, no training camp- how long are you willing to give this coaching staff a pass for uninspired play?

The fact is that we have Rookies everywhere. They will look great at times ( Trents Tds) and not so great at times, as the year goes on they will get better and better. We will win most o our games later in the year.....

Shurmer does suck as a coach.....Just does not hmake the right choices thru out the game. Sorry but no way should have Weeden thrown the ball 85 times in todays game. They took trent out of the game because we were throwing so much and the game was 17-14!!!!! EPIC FAIL
