  • Except we have to wait for Weeden to be good, which isn't gonna be this year or next year.

Then pow, he's 31, going on 32, in his physical decline.

It's not equivalent to being 31 and 32 after having way more years in the NFL, because you're not taking all those hard hits and not moving as much so you're not declining the knees.

If he takes good care of his body it will be more like he's 28-29 when he turns 31-32. Physical decline is least important in the QB position where all they need is to have a strong arm and be mentally sharp.

With positions like RB and WR it's a different story.

    Come on really?

For every Warner there is 100 guys who retired and didn't make it to 25.

It's just like trying to compare Colt to Brees.

  • Weeden will be fine, he's better than Brady Quinn II.

    Signed,

    The QB Guru

  • I would have liked to see Colt start start the season while Weeden learned more about the NFL game. As soon as the team had 3 more losses than they did wins, I would have switched over to Weeden and started the "new era". Therefore, no lingering questions about Colt and Weeden would have been more NFL ready than what we saw against Philly.

I do think Colt is capable of the deep throw. I think he would have killed Philly in Game 1. I think he has climbed the learning curve. I saw that last year against Cinci when he took two drives the length of the field for TD's. And I think we forget the dropped passes last year. Way too many of them.

I like Weeden and think he's going to do well. But I think we needed to be more patient with him before starting with this calibre of a team. But I know he's old for a rookie, and I know that coaching jobs are on the line.

Now that we've started Weeden, we need to stick with him for a couple of years.

  • 22 games of seeing Colt was enough for me.....

I hate Browns fans on this board, you have no clue about football. you think Colt os a good QB, dont want to give a rookie a chance. Call for the coaches head after first 2 games..lets think about what I have seen on this board for 5 yrs

Everyone hated Magini wanted new coach get new coach want Magini back

Everyone hated Jake they want Colt 2010

everyone hated Quinn they wanted DA 2009

Everyone Hated Quinn they wanted DA 2008

Everone Hated DA they wanted Quinn 2007

Everyone Frye they wanted DA 2006

Everyone hated Dilfer they wanted Frye 2005

Everyone hated Garcia they wanted Holcomb 2004

Get the point on this board everyone wants the Back-up, so they put the back up in, and guess what...WE STILL SUCK

Weeden has played 3 NFL games and already we want a guy who in 22 games could not do what Weeden did in his second game in the NFL. Let me guess you dont want Trich in there either we want Hardesty back there..Give me a break...

Every year on this board its the samething

    Every year FIRE THE COACH

Every year fIRE THE QB, PUT THE BACK UP IN

Every year BLOW UP THE FRONT OFFICE

I am glad that Holgram has held his ground with all the bullshit Browns fans. Did the pats, packers, Lions, 49ers become good over night...NO The loins were really bad for 20 yrs, remember the Aints, how about the Pats in the 90s....

We will win most of our games at the end of the year, when these Rookies have about 7 to 8 NFL games under them... Weeden is fine

Regarding those Browns qbs- they had one thing in common- they all SUCKED!!! We're in the position we are exactly because barring Anderson's one fluke 1\2 season- the Browns haven't had a true franchise qb since Bernie Kosar. Ever think some of the guys recognized a turd when they saw one?

BTW, Shurmur has lost 9 games in a row- and I'm betting it will be 11 after we play the Ratbirds and Giants. Guy still looks lost & calls a lousy game. So how much slack you willing to give him?

He'll be following Holmgren out the door IMO. And FWIW, I was NOT one of the Mangini bashers. That one is all on Mike for giving an utterly unready guy a head coaching gig as a favor to his pal Fritz. Remember the Rams fans who came over here after we hired Pat and thanked us for taking a lousy coach off their hands?

One difference with Weeden is he didn't play football for those years. So he will not have the physical contact that someone playing those years would. So I disagree with your assessment.

This guy was a pitcher throwing 99 MPH. I'm sure his arm has it's wear and tear. And he's not mentally sharp, overthrowing receivers and getting caught under flags.

We've got a long way to go.

  • 22 games is enough for me to realize that Colt cannot throw the ball down field, nor does he want to.

Weeden gives us the better chance to win, and he is our rookie.

Weeden starts 12/13 games and Haslem/FO decides that he isnt't our future and want a second look at Colt in the last 3-4 games fine I guess, maybe he shows enough for us to not take a QB until the 3rd round, who knows

Weeden is at least exciting to watch. He airs the ball out. Weeden is a better DA to Colts worse Quinn... With Colt we are seeing a lot more 3 and outs, even though we are seeing a ton already.

If we're gonna take Weeden out of the starting lineup put in Thadeus Lewis, kid could be real fun to watch.

I've come to the conclusion that most of my fellow Cleveland fans are total fucking mouth-breathers. Did you just say put in Thaddeus Lewis? This kid PLAYED QB AT FUCKING DUKE. There's a reason he's a 3rd string QB.

Shurmur CALLS THE PLAYS NOT THE QB. Colt can throw the ball, and he can do much more outside of throwing that Weeden will NEVER be able to do. Weeden has a much better supporting cast around him with more weapons and is doing even worse than Colt 3 games into the WCO.

Weeden isn't exciting to watch, it's nerve racking. The guy can have 6 seconds in the pocket and still underthrow his WR.

  • Colt was drafted in the third round, got a couple years of NFL experience, and teams would not offer a sixth or seventh round pick for him. People who think McNoodlearm is the answer need their heads examined. The entire no talent around him is phony. Weeden has practically the same line and caliber receivers and bested McCoy's best game in his second start. Give Weeden a year to get acclimated to the NFL just like every other rookie quarterback with sane fans gets, and then start judging year two. Unreal..

  • It just blows my mind that people still want Colt...Where the hell is Goolie on this...Goolie I need to please!!!!

They have the exact same supporting cast, are you stupid?

Colt had Little, a WR who didn't play any college ball last year. Weeden has Gordon, a WR who didn't play any college ball last year.

Colt had Hillis, a bruising between the tackles runner. Weeden has Richardson, who is not even that...yet.

    They both have MoMass.

    They both have Watson.

They have the same offensive line+ Mitchell Schwartz who has been utterly awful.

Who does Weeden have that is better than what Colt had? Did we have some big name FA signee that I just completely missed?

Fact of the matter is, it took Weeden 2 games to do what Colt couldn't do in 22. Colt was never supposed to be "the guy". Most third round QB's aren't picked to be "the guy". Colt is what we all knew he was, a capable backup if you absolutely need him to be.

Weeden is the talent that we need at QB. He's going to have his mistakes, all rookies do. Once RG3 and Luck have a bad game, you think fans will be calling for their heads?

After reading your responses I think it's you who is the mouth-breather, chap. Stop calling for your man-crush Colt, and sack up.

  • I hae trying to find out Mccoy, so looking back at all his win ( 5 of them) i was trying to figure out why so much love

    His first win

2010 against Saints 9 for 16 74yards ( why the Browns won Reggie Freakin Hodges with his fake punts)

2010 againt Pats 14 for 19 170 yards ( why Browns win Hillis goes ape shit 180 yards 2 TDs)

Those are the two wins they the everyone talks about and it had nothing to do with Colt...

So why is there Love?? is it becasue he went to Texas??

  • History tells us one thing about the browns and they're qb woes. the guy on the bench will play by the end of the year. I'm starting to think its impossible for one guy to take every snap in a 16 game season for the browns
