How Long Until We See Colt?
-
Thank god we traded the #6 pick in 2011!
I mean without Greg Little,Owen Marisuck and Phil Taylor we would of surely went 0-16 and had to of draft Robert Griffin or Andrew Luck.
With the addition of Phil Taylor we went from #32 against the run to #31 against the run, we are building a Jugernaut. In 30 more years we will have the #1 run defense against the run.
Heckert is a god damn genius, fucking Weeden will be a perennial PRO BOWLER until he retires in five years - Luck and Griffin? I don't see them panning out at all. All the experts agree.
Julio Jones is a bum Greg Little had 61 catches! for the Browns DYNAMIC OFFENSE in 2011 - yes Heckert is pure fucking genius.
I mean Weeden to Little - how can you not love that.
How shitty it would be to have to deal with RG3 or Andrew Luck throwing to Julio Jones, Tom Heckert knows how to build the right way!

Under what scenario do you see the Browns having gotten Luck or Griffin?
By your initial view you say if the Browns had not made the trade for Taylor et al, then they would have taken Julio Jones.
But then in the next breath you say they would have been so bad with Julio Jones that they would have been in position to receive either the first or second pick in the draft.
So? Which is it? Do you want your cake and shove it too?
Do you think having Julio Jones would have made Colt McCoy even worse? Apparently so.

Well that post was basically satire.
My position is with a team depleted of both talent and depth you should place more value in talent.
From your previous posts I'm assuming your position is that you place more value on depth and that you believe the 2011 draft trade would of somewhat hindered our progress but eventually paid off in the long term.
In my opinion planning on long term success without immediate improvement is futile.
As far as taking Jones in 2011 and our 2012 draft position, well there's no way we can know what would've happened.

What I value is talent AND depth. So, for Julio Jones we got Phil Taylor, Greg Little, Brandon Weeden...and I think Marecic. The only problem I see with this trade is that Taylor has been hurt. Last year, he alone played as well at his position as Jones did at his.
Little's play would have not been much behind Jones's....if he would have held on to the goddamn ball!! Marecic looks like a throw in that may eventually get thrown out.
Then there is BW3. It is way, way too early to judge him. It really is.

Phil Taylor was disappointing as hell last season. When he was healthy he took off plays and didn't push any lines backward for our DE's to make backfield tackles.
It's not too early to 'judge' Weeden, it may be too early for a final verdict but I have every right to say so far he doesn't look like a 1st round QB in any way.

Based on your reasoning, at this time Colt is also a better QB than RG3, Andrew Luck, Ryan Tannehill, and Russell Wilson.
How did you pull that out of what he said? At all, seriously? He didn't say anything about Colt being better than any rookie, just Weeden.
As much as I want to see Colt...we won't. We could go 0-16 and not see Colt.
I don't think Colt is a GREAT QB, or 'the answer' going forward. I just think that Weeden isn't taking this team any further than Colt, and Colt deserved to get his chance with the new weapons/linemen. Weeden was handed the job without earning it and that is unsettling.
Weird trend with the Browns, pretty much every QB we've had has been pushed into a starter role before they were ready and were pushed out when they finally were. Not saying we've gotten rid of pro-bowlers, just crazy how quickly we blame QB's for our problems instead of realizing we set QB's up for failure.

"Winning four games is a lot better than winning zero"
I took it to mean Colt won four games last season, which is more than the number of wins Weeden currently has.
It is also more than RG3, Luck, or any other rookie has this season.
Therefore, by that reasoning, Colt would be superior to all.

Talk to me when the season is over about how many wins Luck, RG III, or Weeden will have.
McCoy got shopped to the entire NFL with no takers. Wonder why?

In legal terms we would call you a jurist who made up his mind after the first attorney made his opening argument. Yu don't want to wait for the counterargument, you don't want to wait until any witnesses are sworn in to testify. You don't want to wait until any facts are introduced into evidence.

I completely agree.
Somebody just asked me what reasoning I was using for my first post, which was meant to be sarcastic, so I explained it.
Colt is nothing more than a manageable back up. He's a weaker, smaller Matt Flynn.

Colt is the Answer.
He has a great spark about him, he's a leader that these guys will follow. This is making him better, feeding his fire. He's stacking the hay right now and when he's done cooking these guys won't play for anyone else.

The only thing Colt is the answer to is the question, who is the backup quarterback of the Browns.
