We may indeed draft another DE next year, but good lord, our interior rotation is going to be nasty once Taylor comes back.

I think DE/OLB is one of our biggest needs, we need a true game changer to solidify this line. We need to fill holes and solidify parts of our team one by one.
Sure Rucker and Parker are solid, but we need true talent to help maximize the production of our other players.

Anyone think Winn has the potential to play DE? or is he just a DT? We still need a DE across from Sheard. Rucker and Parker have been playing well, but they are both pretty old I believe...
Winn has looked great, and I am liking the Hughes pick quite a bit too.

Parker is 34 but Rucker is 29, should have a few years ahead of him yet.
Winn did play DE a couple of times for Boise, think he might not be quite explosive enough to do it in the NFL. Doing a great job at DT though.

I knew he was a great value pick in our draft. I remember when mocks had him going in the late first round.

In a 3-4... yes...
4-3.... not so much...

Top 4-3 DE's are athletic freaks like Jason Pierre-Paul or JJ Watt. Winn is not at that level. The 3-4 DE is a glorified DT; Winn would start and do well at that role. But even though he's not a starter quality 4-3 DE, Winn is still a good player and the combination of Winn and Hughes will allow us to keep Rubin/Taylor fresh the whole game.
If we don't go Geno Smith at the top of 1 next season, we need to draft a DE.

Yeah,
Jarvis Jones, Barkevious Mingo, or Geno Smith for me.

I'd be okay to trade out of #1 (which is where I'm assuming we'll finish) if someone really wants Geno Smith.

The more I think about this and read about Geno Smith, the more I'm in favor of picking Geno at #1 overall, telling McCoy/Weeden to fight amongst themselves to be the backup, play Winn as the starting LDE, and rotate Hughes and the other DE's more than we have in the past to keep Rubin/Taylor fresh for Q4. I would like to play Winn all 3 downs, rotating him in as the DT for clear passing downs.
Geno Smith has the velocity on his throws, the mental makeup, and the running ability to be next year's RG3/Newton.

If they trade away Geno Smith or any QB that grades a number 1 pick id flip out...if were picking number 1, Weeden may not be the guy, draft another QB and trade the loser of the battle...We have to spend a hefty amount in FA this year so we'll fill some holes that way.
