No, I'm more mad that we went Mack over Matthews that year and David Veikune/Brian Robiskie over LeSean McCoy. Hindsight is 20-20 and Hartline is having a nice year for sure, but there are other players in the draft that are either not with this team, or not in the league that we took, instead of a 4th rounder who is still a decent backup for us.

I do like Mack, but I woulda rather had Matthews.

Well, Brian Hartline, of the Dolphins... had a gigantic day as a receiver. I just dropped Anquan Boldin right off my team, because nobody wanted to trade for him,

        and he's a ratbird and I won't have one on my team....@@

and I picked up Hartline. And he got 34 FREAKIN POINTS for me !!!!!!

Except, I didn't play him. dammit. I still won the contest though....

but I went back, and looked Hartline up. He was drafted in the fourth round, #108 overall.

That's four picks after.... the Browns picked LB Kaluka Maiava, USC.

No offense, Kauluka, but we could really use a Brian Hartline on the Browns.

My opinion, Mangini should have picked Hartline. dammit.

Hindsight is always 20\20 Cal. That's a minor miscue in the big scheme of things. How about whiffing on Richard Seymour, & LaDanian Tomlinson?

You want more recent history? How 'bout Clay Matthews Jr- who wanted to be a Brown- playing here instead of Green Bay? You may not like him- but I'll take Rothlisbooger any day ahead of crip Wi-SLOW.

DeMarcus Ware,Patrick Willis,Clay Matthews jr, Haloti Ngata are all guys who could be wearing a Browns uniform now.

And you could argue that in choosing them in their draft years that they wouldn't have even effected our draft position from year to year to keep up from drafting the next one in line.

But I guess if we actually had a guy smart enough to draft these guys we'd probably be winning anyway.

Sad thread, huge list of missed talent in the draft.

Yeah, Clay Mathews Jr - so many whiffs.

Sure, hindsight is 20/20, but at the time, it was FORESIGHT with most of, ie, Mathews, Jr.

I will say, that Ladanian would have been a bust behind the Browns oline back then, so that wouldn't have worked out.

Sorry,... I was just lamenting the Browns wr's dropping passes. Maybe Cooper needs to come off the practice squad.

Brian Hartline was a favorite of mine - he was a local kid, went to Glen Oak.

Maybe we should just pick all local kids.

(actually, it would be interesting to try to put together an "All Northeast Ohio" NFL team. I will make that a new thread.

believe me most local kids in NE Ohio want to GTFO of their local towns.

can you say white sand beaches and beautiful blonds? why do you think the SEC is so good. everyone wants to go south and hit those little blondes that they bring in by the truckloads on recruitment day.

Yup.... one game so far... but Hartline and Tannehill seem to be developing some chemistry that I suspect will emerge again and again...

It'd be nice if our rookie QB developed some chemistry... with someone...

The Buckeye WR I wanted was UFA Dane Sanzenbacher...

Lastly, I'll add to the Clay Jr. chorus... biggest draft shoulda in recent memory...

Was some other team really pissed at themselves when Jerome Harrison rumbled for almost 300 yards a few years ago? Probably not. It was a statistical anomaly. Just like Hartline's big game.

Kaluka Maiava is actually a good solid player, good tackler, despite being a bit undersized. I don't know why Fujita gets playing time over him, because everytime I watch Maiava I see him doing well.

every week another flash in the pan WR... in FF

The two things in the 2009 draft that I would be Pissed Off about is not getting Clay Mathews and or LeSean McCoy. I went with a friend to New York and got tickets to the hall...we were chanting Clay Clay Clay...and then the browns pick Mack! OMG i was so pissed that day anyway since a left my iphone in the taxi and had the phone number to this gal i hadn't seen in 6 years that i was supposed to see that night.
