Here are today's Survey Questions. Give your opinions:
1. What "cosmetic" changes would you like to see Jimmy Haslam make with the Browns. (i.e. non-football related...not things like fire the coach/gm/pres. etc.)
Cheerleaders, plastic beer bottles, and plenty of Retarded mascots to throw them at.
2. There are now 8 teams left in the baseball playoffs. Which matchup would you prefer to see in the World Series?
Cardinals - A's
3. What is the best Steakhouse you have ever been to?
Andre's Steak House, Naples, FL
4. James Bond in his new movie is going to ask for a Heineken, eschewing his usual vodka martini, shaken not stirred. Is the blasphemy? A sellout? A good idea? What?
Sellout, and a bad one.
5. Columbus Day was this week. Which part of America have you not "Discovered" yet that you want to discover...i.e. where have you not been to yet that you really want to go? (for this, stick with North America)
Alaska.
Also, I have never been to Kansas City. Would like to try out their steak houses one year when the Browns play there.

My own answers:
1. What "cosmetic" changes would you like to see Jimmy Haslam make with the Browns. (i.e. non-football related...not things like fire the coach/gm/pres. etc.)
I guess I am disingenuous in asking this question...because I don't care about those cosmetic things, like cheerleaders, mascots, naming rights etc. I like the tradition we have.
But....for the benefit of the city and to get more use out of that stadium, it would not bother me if they were able to devise the installation of a retractable roof.
2. There are now 8 teams left in the baseball playoffs. Which matchup would you prefer to see in the World Series?
I would like to see Baltimore vs. Washington. These two towns, after all, are about as close as Akron and Cleveland.(plus, all the other teams still in...Cardinals/As/Reds/Yankees/Tigers/Giants have all won a WS more recently than either the Orioles...or certainly the Nats/Expos.
After that and All Bay Area WS would be OK....except that an earthquake would be sure to occur.
Then an all I-75 series between the Tigers and Reds.
(Fuck the Yankees and the Cardinals)
3. What is the best Steakhouse you have ever been to?
The Texas Club in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Best steak I ever had.
Locally, the Diamond Grill in Downtown Akron
4. James Bond in his new movie is going to ask for a Heineken, eschewing his usual vodka martini, shaken not stirred. Is the blasphemy? A sellout? A good idea? What?
It is essentially all of the above. Though it doesn't bother me that James Bond might have a beer...I would think he would...as long as he has another scene where he orders the martini.
5. Columbus Day was this week. Which part of America have you not "Discovered" yet that you want to discover...i.e. where have you not been to yet that you really want to go? (for this, stick with North America)
Some 15-20 years ago I made a list of 210 destinations in N. America that I wanted to see (states/cities/national parks). So far I have been to 209 of the 210. The one I have not been to is The Big Island and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. But, in a week and a half, on October 20, I will be flying away to that Big Island and will have fulfilled all 210 destinations.
Do you think once I have done that I should jump into the lava crater as a final gesture of life's completion?
I will give it some thought.
(actually, I already have....I think I will then make a new list with a whole new set of destinations)

1. What "cosmetic" changes would you like to see Jimmy Haslam make with the Browns. (i.e. non-football related...not things like fire the coach/gm/pres. etc.)
Rename the stadium, and cut the beer costs
2. There are now 8 teams left in the baseball playoffs. Which matchup would you prefer to see in the World Series?
Cincy vs. Yankees 70's rematch
3. What is the best Steakhouse you have ever been to?
Hyde Park, Ruth Cris, Flemings, Morton's, Delomico's, Cabin Club, Rosewood Grill............I've been to them all, and the best is Texas Roadhouse. The steaks are way bigger and just as good as the high priced places. I would rather have a 14oz ribeye from Roadhouse then a 8oz fillet from Hyde park
4. James Bond in his new movie is going to ask for a Heineken, eschewing his usual vodka martini, shaken not stirred. Is the blasphemy? A sellout? A good idea? What?
Blasphemy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to see the everglades.
C'mon down!
Hopefully we will have a game at Miami next year and we can plan another Browns Road trip.
I live two hours from Miami, but it is a whole different world here in Naples. We are separated from that garbage dump by 100 miles of pristine Everglades, and the Southwest coast of Florida is absolutely beautiful.

You should put Alaska on your bucket list Z. Summer up North is like October in Cleveland.
Two of KC's Steakhouse make my Honorable mention list of places for Steak Hereford House and The Golden Ox. BTW, Arrowhead tops my list of opposing team's venues to watch a game at- and the Tailgating In KC is unbelievable.

I was thinking of Bern's Steakhouse in Tampa, where we dined together, as I took this survey. But I still love my local place here in naples better than any I have been to.
Looking forward to KC ... and Alaska.

I'm with you on Bern's 'Peen. I have to put St Elmo's in Indy, and our own Dayton Pine Club in the discussion though.
Just got back from the Black Hills a couple months ago. Sadly, the Mountain Pine beetle is rapidly turning the Black Hills into the Brown Hills- entire mountainsides of trees are being wiped out by the critter. And absolutely make a side trip to see the Badlands while you're out there, surreal examples of what erosion can do.
Hmmm USA? Sawtooths in Idaho, or Glacier NP in Montana. OK, world- Everest Base Camp. For those that know a little about me- I do a little climbing. Summit Middle Teton, Grand Teton in the background this past August.

Hopefully none. Maybe some renovations to the stadium and gameday changes, but I do not want new uniforms or a new helmet. Part of the reason I fell in love with this team was their look. That needs to stay the same forever.
2. There are now 8 teams left in the baseball playoffs. Which matchup would you prefer to see in the World Series?
Nationals vs. A's
3. What is the best Steakhouse you have ever been to?
Wasabi Japanese Steakhouse is pretty hard to beat.
4. James Bond in his new movie is going to ask for a Heineken, eschewing his usual vodka martini, shaken not stirred. Is the blasphemy? A sellout? A good idea? What?
Product placement. I could care less what he drinks. He is still James Bond.

I have been pretty much everywhere but I would like to explore more some of the states on the gulf coast like Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, etc. Oh and Maine in the Northeast!

Meh...ugly.
5. Columbus Day was this week. Which part of America have you not "Discovered" yet that you want to discover...i.e. where have you not been to yet that you really want to go? (for this, stick with North America)

Not exactly. I've never been so beat up on a climb in my life- ever. Broken finger, messed up my shoulder.
A little info about climbing- Class 2 is steep trail, Class 3 is where you have to start using your hands for either balance or to help yourself up. Class 4 is where the wimps start roping up. Class 5 is where (unless you're a human fly type) everybody breaks out the ropes.
Middle Teton for the last 3,000' is almost unrelenting 2 & 3 climbing with a touch of 4 near the top. The reason I'm sitting on the summit block is because from that boulder behind me it's about 1,000' straight down.

Um that gash happened on a Class 3 stretch. Incidentally, Teton rock has the consistency of sandpaper. I was reaching for a pretty fair sized boulder I though was stable- well, it wasn't. Came down on my leg, and for added excitement, landed on my foot & pinned it between another boulder. Good thing I was wearing mountaineering boots, because if I had been wearing tennis shoes like some guys do up there it would have been a broken foot for sure, and it was about 10 miles back to the car. I couldn't get it off, me and Joe couldn't get it off. Took about 20 minutes of excavation work under my boot moving dirt and small rocks to get enough movement sideways to send that booger 100' down the mountain.
So yeah- that was a 17 hour epic adventure- we didn't get back to the car until 11:30 PM.
One last picture of what class 3 climbing looks like. And I have to give credit to the nephew Tenzing Joe Sherpa for helping the old guy out of a jam & carrying most of the gear.

-
I don't climb much anymore, (ok...I don't do any) but when younger I reached the summit of Mt. Princeton, in Colorado.....over 14,000 feet.
I suppose in the history of the world, not all that many have hiked above 14k....I am proud to point it out.
No pictures to post....Kodak Kodachrome days....I may still have some stuffed in some box, though I haven't seen them in maybe 25 years.
I'll have to start rooting around.
