Jabaal Sheard
-
Seems all that Sheard can do is outside speed rush which the Colts consistently countered all game.
This guy has been a no show all season, our defense will never be good unless this guy gets some inside moves in his arsenal.
TJ Ward is fucking horrible too, Sheard and Little = total fuckin busts on a shitty defense, Heckert is a failure.
-
I've never been sold on Heckert, a lot of people praise him like he is some great GM but the truth is all he's done is draft mediocre players on a stripped down team that wouldn't start in any other city but Cleveland.

IIRC, looking at the stats Little had 6 catches and no drops. (at least on catchable balls) Pretty nice grab in the end zone on an overthrown ball too. Ward got sucked in on some bad defensive assignments. We could have done worse.
-
My mistake I meant Ward not Little.
Little did well, I think the pressure of being the go to guy is a bit much for him though, hence the dropsies.

Agreed. Mostly......
We have two good players on D, Haden and Taylor. Sheard is a fan favorite, but a true liability on 1st and 2nd down. Sheard and Ward would make most NFL rosters, but not all. Definately not as starters. The rest of the defense is dog shit. Robertson played well, but is a special teamer on most rosters at best.
The Colts were brilliant today. Just run your offense and after you're ahead, just manage the game. That's all you need to do to be beat our team.

I would most definitely add Rubin to that list, i know hes a little beat up right now but is still a staple on the D line. I would take it a bit further too, and say he's more valuable than Taylor. Taylor potentially has more of an upside than Rubin but the D plays better overall when Rubin is in there and is healthy.

You're right. Thanks for correcting me.
Haden and Rubin are acceptable. Taylor, Shepard and Ward are borderline. The rest wouldn't make make most NFL rosters.

Sheard has been a ghost this season. He needs Phill Taylor back to be effective. Taylor drew the double team and Sheard got around the end. Defenses know that he is the only player we've got who can get at the QB. However, Sheard does need to find out a way to be effective on his own. Phil Taylor, like right now, may not always be there.
-
The thing i dont get is why dont they move him around on the line? Play him in some different spots, try and catch the O-line off gaurd. Idk
-
He's not good enough to play against left tackles.
Maybe he'll be better at linebacker if we switch to a 3-4 next year.
-
Sheard will be fine.
-
Don't worry guys. Jarvis Jones will come in and take some heat off of Sheard next year.
-
Why is it that most Browns fans overrate their injured players?
Sheard didn't need Taylor last year, Taylor wasn't really a factor. This is the same Phil Taylor we saw take off plays and rarely collapse the pocket.
Sheard isn't even this guy who flourishes from his athleticism, on draft day I clearly remember McShay saying "He's not the most athletic guy, but he is probably one of the smartest football players in this draft"

it would help if we had another DE opposite sheard. anyone know the name of the person that has that responsibility now....cuz i sure as hell don't.

Actually Frostee Rucker has played pretty well this season. He may be the most disruptive D-Lineman on our team, obviously not a Pro Bowler but not shabby either IMO. Looks like a good pickup. Also Phil Taylor was really good as a ROOKIE... Of course hes gonna get tired with the transition from college to the pros, but he was really disruptive especially toward the end of the season last year, Im excited to see if he can build off of that. Plus now with Hughes, Winn, and Rubin, we can really rotate out those 2 positions and keep players fresh.

Dont we have some injuries in the D and the players we are starting are not exactly our regular starters?
How was the Colds D with Angerer hurt last year?
