Shurmer

The Browns Board

  • Punts on the Colts 41 to give them the ball on their 20.

Burns a timeout to do so, that's Pat for you.

  • That 4 and 1 looked like it might have cost shurmur his job. I mean, he was losing it anyway, but haslem did not look like he agreed with that at all.

  • Why can't we just fire this guy after the game? We have an ex head coach that is the OC, which I'm not sure why because Shurmur still call all the plays?!

Anybody see the new owner up in the owner's box? He looks very intense, and from watching him and his reaction to moron Shurmur's decision to punt on 4th and 1, after calling a TO, he didn't look to happy about it.

I'd be happier with one of the ball boys calling the plays. Patsy the Balless wonder sealed his fate punting on fourth and one. The look on Haslam's face said it all. Shurmur doesn't even have the excuse "well if we had gone for it and failed, I would have been second guessed". By WHO? Absolutely un f**cking unbelievable. Haslam should tell Shurmur to have his wife drive down to Indy and pick him up- because he isn't worthy to ride home on the plane and get fired on Monday.

Dear Mr. Haslam- please don't wait until the bye, when this team is 1-8. This loss officially buried the Browns for 2012, so no sense letting a total bozo HC hang around any longer.

Might have? Did. Even though we stopped them, the forking genius gave up 40 yards of field position. Hardesty was running strong Patsy- maybe Childress whispered that into your headset, but you didn't have the guts to take a chance.

Why not? Things change. OK, here's the Hoorta's lead-pipe Internet lock of the year. Bet the ranch if the Browns are 1-8 at the Bye, Shurmur is no longer coaching the Browns. Tale it to the bank.

It was obvious Shurmur just gave Jimmy (as well as any Browns fan with two communicating neurons) a massive case of acid indigestion.

Haslam was on record "I'm here to give Pat any help he might need." He might have just decided- "this bum is beyond any help I can provide."

Mod edit: "of course not- thanks to Uncle Mike, I got millions in the bank for not being able to coach my way out of a paper bag."

  • Is it a joke to spell Shurmur's name wrong?

    idk.

I don't care when he's fired as long as he's not the coach come Week 1 next week.

I didn't know week 1 was next week. Isn't next week, week 8?

Who cares how you the idiots name. He probably doesn't even know how to spell it.

So far this season ive been pretty reluctant to call for Shurmur's head but that 4th and one pushed me over the edge. His overall playcalling IMO is actually not too bad. Id like to see them stick with the running game a little more, BUT his playcalling in CRITICAL SITUATIONS just FUCKING SUCK! Blech!!! We gotta get a guy who is not only a smart coach, but also a coach who has some GODDAMN GUTS!!! This guy seems to bring out the biggest pussy on the planet when its crunch time!!! Spineless gutless no nuts whatsoever, scared little nancy boy this guy is and i really think that lightbulb in Jimmy H's head went off and blew up as he watched this game. Game over for Patsy.....I hope!!

Also i wanna see Juron get the fuck on down the road too!!

  • Haslam imho would be quite justified in firing shurmur now or at the bye week and should do so..

Shurmur is both a spineless decision maker and a gutless playcaller in clutch situations and those are unwanted inherent flawed attributes that tend to come with losing coaches and they never go away...

There is no place in cleveland browns fans heart for a consistently gutless coach or a gutless GM that wont fire him in order to start correcting things..

Its bad enough that this young team is gonna make mistakes and sometimes dont execute the play well but when head coaches consistently make poor decisions and at 1-5 punt in 4th down and short situations with the clock ticking it will often cost your team any chance of winning..

Most fans are pretty fed up with this kind of low caliber incompetent coaching brought to us for 9 years by an incompetent owner in randy lerner, the sooner haslam starts correcting this mess the better..

The most frustrating part about it to me is that we have talent and are playing fairly competitive football but shurmur not unlike mangini doesnt have the balls to go for the finishing blows when we are up and doesnt know when to take a chance even at 1-6 in order to try to win in a game you are certain to lose if you dont get bold..

At the very least shurmur needs to be stripped of the playcalling responsibilities immediately..

Yeah my bad, I meant next year.

And I just wanted to know because everyone spells Shurmur and Haslam's name wrong.

  • In Shurmurs press conference one of the first questions he's asked is about the 4th and 1 play.

He responds and talks for a bit and every time he refers to any decision about what to do there he says " well we thought" "we decided" "we felt it was the right thing to do".

What the fuck is this coach by committee ??? Now you would hope this is simply classic deflection of utter responsibility, but it's not.

The truth is that it is coach by committee. Shurmur disgusts me. He is not an "alpha male". I highly doubt any player in that locker room respects this guy.

I seriously question if Shurmur has final say on the decisions in game and if he does I'd bet he's easily swayed.

"Design by committee is a term referring to a style of design and its resultant output when a group of entities comes together to produce something (often the design of technological systems or standards), particularly in the presence of poor leadership. Critics of this style of design describe its defining characteristics as those of needless complexity, internal inconsistency, logical flaws, banality, and the lack of a unifying vision. This democratic design process is in contrast to autocratic design, or design by dictator, where the project leader has the final authority." wiki

  • I really don't understand his thinking. The guy is a dead man walking. He should be rolling the dice and making brave calls to try and impress, yet he's such a fucking coward. Maybe he isn't, maybe he's just really stupid, either way this team would be better without him.

  • The question is, if we dump Shurmur today, does the team get better tomorrow?

Or is it better to let the season ride out?

Let Shurmur hang himself harder, so our next coach has the first pick in the nfl draft we can trade away to plug the rest of our gaps out.

The Season is dead barring an ungodly 9 wins in a row, so imo id rather let BW3 and Trent take their lumps this year before they get a real system in place that will showcase them.

It's my understanding Shurmer has been told no decisions will be made until after the season. I can understand that. That way Haslam gave everybody every chance to show what they can do.

He now owns the team, but this really isn't his team, so he can let it play out this year as making some cosmetic change at this point isn't really going to impact the long term changes he hopes to make.

  • Murmur hasn't helped himself with inconsistant playcalling, not maximizing situations and poor running game. Unlike Mangini, who I believe had head coaching ability, Murmur doesn't. He is a water boy.

  • Bring back Eric Mangini today!

And as an owner his responsibility is to put butts in the seats...A half empty stadium by halftime against a division rival will force his hand...Shurmurs' days are numbered.
