Week 7 Game Impressions: Browns @ Colts
-
I'm not blaming Weeden this week, and let's not blame Gordon either.
I'm blaming Shurmur.
2nd and 1: Throw to the end zone
3rd and 1: Throw to the end zone.
4th and 1: Punt.
3rd & long = screen pass to Obygnaya
3rd & long = screen pass to Obygnaya
burning a TO so he can punt, calling TO in the first half on 4th and 1 and the d-line STILL jumps offside

hey. we ARE the worse team in the league BUT we have a lot of young talented keepers on both sides of the ball. weeden TR little gordon and cameron. haden ward DQ JMJ fort robertson...and mayber a couple more i can't think of right now.
next year i see D as our biggest concern and most important picks in the draft UNLESS jimmy wants to flush out all the shit including mccoy and weeden and draft klein #1.

The old hook and lateral and lateral and lateral... and fumble...
Game left me feeling really empty... we had our chances...
And, yes, Sheldon Brown screwed the pooch on that attempted "tackle"... dipped his head and missed.
Not that Wheezy cost us the game, but that last pass to Cooper was there. It just had to be lower.
Could be that old cliche about teams having to learn to win is in effect.

As for the owner... be careful what you wish for... I'm really getting a Jerry Jones vibe

Dude, Weeden looked great. He is our QB for many years. Get over your hate for him. Our Defense needs major improvement in LB and in learning how to fucking tackle (again).

I think we had more yards penalized against us than yards rushing, against the worst run D in the league, well probably not after this week.
-
I think the biggest thing was that Luck was literally a statue back there all game. Outside those two sacks I don't even think the guy was touched. You cannot give a good QB that kind of time or he's going to tear you apart. I'm not sure what's going on with the blitz coverages. The first two weeks we were abusing the QB and lately the blitz calls are bland as hell.
And as always, Shurmer shows a kid with down syndrome could outcoach him. throw deep twice with 1 yard to go then punt, which after the colts punted back netted us about -25 yards. I know it sounds crazy now, but I actually believe this is the year before having a good team. Once Haslam gets Shurmer's awful ass out there's a core of talent who showed despite miserable coaching can compete. Add a top 5 elite pass rushing DE or shut down corner and who knows.

I have only had to watch what's happened this season, as I have been more than curious to see how BW would play. I don't know how anyone could survive
the asinine play calls over a long period of time. I've seen numerous times where they've tried to buck the tendencies, and throwing deep with a yard to
go. Just move the sticks for lord's sake. 3 rushing first downs?

After the redskins secondary broke my heart, I decided to watch some of the highlights of the browns/colts game. I've come to three conclusions:
1. Both weeden and luck are very good qbs and in all honesty this past draft will be like the one in 83(I think 83) with Kelly Marino etc; all of the rooks have looked exceptional beyond their years. Though I hate the fuckig colts because why is it every ten years thy mysteriously get he #1 pick when the next great qb comes out of college? Elway(even though he pulled an Eli), george(even though he sucked), manning and nOw luck. Such bs.
2. Though I still think you guys could have gotten weeden in ye second round and picked up Riley reiff with the first pick, he is looking great and with very little help.
3.why is t Trent richardson running like he did in college? Dude used to just run over peeps now Hes stutter stepping it seems. I still think he's the next Adrian Peterson

Hey, don't complain too much you guys got RG III. Remains to be seen if he can avoid Michael Vick syndrome- he's not going to last long trying to emulate a RB.
Bottom line: The Browns have some talent, they currently have inferior (wuss) coaching. You're a 1 win team and you don't go for it on 4th and 1, on the Colt's 40, with 6 minutes left in the game?

God... a lot of people on here bitch too much.

then go stick ann arbor in her ass and take lansing along with you.

where in my post do i show hate for weeden. i said he was a keeper. now he ain't no eli manning but i think he could come close if everything stayed the same for 2 years.
and who has screamed more about the defense before and after the draft than me?

We have plenty to bitch about, unfortunately. I was hoping for a 2 game winning streak- guess that was too much to ask for.

Yes, we will two more games AT LEAST. Were a better team than last year, and our "tough" schedule has actually softened quite a bit with teams performing under par, especially in the AFC. Its open season for Cleveland to get some big upsets that they match up with suprisingly well. This goes with saying that all players remain healthy/consistently improving
