The Browns Board

  • Hi All

I'm new to the game and for my troubles picked the Browns as my team; I blame my aunt being from Ohio! I love the game already, and I get most of it, but there's a few questions that I would love to know the answer to but can't find anywhere - I hope someone here can oblige 🙂

To start with, if Pinkston's forced to retire through this illness, would we get any kind of compensatory pick of any kind? Also, Pat Shurmur calling the plays on offense - is this a common kind of thing among head coaches? Also, how in the heck do you miss an extra point attempt?! Surely this thing is practiced a thousand times every week to the point where it's just routine? I can understand if the line doesn't hold and it gets blocked maybe, but fumbling the snap like that is just about inexcusable, I would have thought.

Forgive my ignorance on these things, like I said I'm new to the game!

    Cheers

    Chris

  • Don't mind Gafreleets, he blows guys for quarters. Just a Steeler fan. Your new mortal enemy.

    Welcome to the NFL!

  • Hey there guys,

I'm also new on here and love the banter that goes on between people. I'm from Australia and this is the 1st season that I've really started to follow the NFL (we have the NRL here and it's basically the NFL without the helmets or pads).

Anyway, I've chosen the Browns as my team to follow as well. Actually, I've chosen the city of Cleveland to follow as I follow the Cavs as well. Reason being, I love cheering the underdogs and cities that have worked hard but haven't won a title for a while.

My question is, if they did get that pick, what round would it most likely be in?

    Cheers.

  • ^Change your font, that is awful.

  • It would most likely be a 5th or 6th rounder compensational pick Ifigure. It is a rare case to get a 4th rounder

    No, It's not that bad.

    Thanks mate.

  • Okay, I may be off base here, but I believe the only way the Browns would get a compensatory pick is if Pinkston was picked up by another Team.

Players get hurt/retire all the time, you don't see that many comp picks being dealt out.

Pinkston is on IR, and out for the rest of the year.

Come next Spring he should be okay, unless there is a more serious underlying condition causing his blood clots.

As far as Head Coaches calling their own plays, not really that uncommon, I've probably seen it as much as not.

Missed PAT's . . . yeah, they pretty rare, but they do happen.

Cleveland had a similar issue (hold) against St. Louis last year that cost them the game.

And welcome to the boards (though I'm fairly new to this particular forum myself).

    .

  • Thanks guys, I'm sure there'll be a few more coming this way in the future! To be honest there's another reason for supporting the Browns - I'm a life long Aston Villa fan, so my allegiance was swung by Randy Lerner.

Oh and Dan, that font really is that bad 😉

Garafleets is in a State run Mental Institution, and sometimes get's on the Ward Nurse's computer to access the Internet. Read his signature and you'll understand what I'm saying.

  • Chris, first of all, great team pick to be a browns fan. They may suck it up cionsistently, but they got a FANTASTIC history and are one of the prime teams of the NFL, along with the 2nd best fanbase in the world (behind Green Bay).

Since 1946, Cleveland has had the Browns for their football team, and I LOVE them to death. Truly a great franchise and amazing football atmosphere.

    Now we just gotta win...
