Just got an email back from a friend (who isn't one in the fall b/c he's a Broncos fan) saying after losing Leatherface the only good news he's gotten over the holiday is that "Ryan would be leaving the AFC West."
Dude is a good fan & friend. Smart guy too. I specifically sent him the email requesting his thoughts on Ryan. Just another solid confirmation for me on the Ryan hire from another arm-chair warrior.

Ok "Douche Bag" I stated nothing but the obvious If you don't see your owner is going senile and is the biggest problem your team has then your are smoking crack! Did you listen to the babbling incoherent press conference he had after firing Kiffin? Did you pay attention when he traded a second round pick for Hall and then released him for nothing? Did you watch when he shelled out millions to free agents no other team would touch with a ten foot pole? AL Davis was a very good owner at one time, but those days are long over and the only hope your team has is for him to turn the reigns over to someone else. The Raiders have talent I like them, but Davis needs to let go, He's killing Raider nation!
As for Ryan, He had the Raiders defense as the top 3 defense in the NFL in 2006 and is well respected throughout the NFL as a great DC. From what Ive heard from Raider fans and your raider nation board is that Davis handcuffed him throughout his time there. Then comes along Kiffin in 2007. The defense they've played since he arrived and the one you're referring to man coverage with a 4 man rush is the Tampa 2 Kiffins daddies D. It's been well publicized Rob was not fond of it or Kiffin for making him change. So in reality your wrong that was Kiffins D you didn't like!
In 2005 and 2006 the Raiders ran a hybrid 3-4 4-3 D that resembles what his brother in Baltimore does and in 2006 it flourished with the acquisition of some young talent through the draft and some key free agent signings. If they would of left it alone it would of maintained its success but Kiffin had to come and and bring with him the Tampa 2 you so much despise. Did you watch the Raiders defense in 2006? It was totally different then it is now and was last year! For instance look at how Derrick Burgess flourished in 2005 and 2006 with 16 and 11 sacks. Once you went to the Tampa 2 his numbers dropped along with the rest of the defense. Thats just one example, Rob will have the personnel and the say to run the defense he wants to run without being handcuffed to players and a scheme he doesn't like!
As for you living in Northern Ohio I hope you weren't born there and are from California because If you were that shows your true colors. Its Ass Hats like you who became bandwagon Steelers, Cowboys, 49ers and Raiders fans in the 80's/90's who make me sick!

For the record, I don't dislike Rob Ryan. He was a decent positional coach for the Patriots.
I think some league sources quesiton whether he's his father's son and can control himself, and others watched him become Al Davis' lap dog and questioned him further.
I think he was saying whatever he thought Davis wanted to hear and that he'd be rewarded with the Raiders head coaching position - but he was spurned.
I think anyone who actually WANTS the Raiders HC position should have his head examined, so he's got that working against him too - but overall I think he knows his football pretty well.

The Browns lost their last 6 with a 3rd and 4th string QB. Our margin of losses was a lot better than yours though and we had a harder schedule.

And after splitting wins all but 1 season Ryan was DC of your scrubtown team when they should be mopping the floor with you, my Denver buddy is understandably excited to not have to face Ryan twice a year.

Ryan held them to ten points? Or our far more talented players then you have did? I don't understand how you can say we are scrubs when you are worse then we are? I could understand if you we're the Eagles or the Steelers, but you are the Browns who havent done anything ever. Don't you see this. You would be tearing Rob Ryan apart if he went to the Bengals or somwhere else, but since he is with your team, you think he is great. You don't know anything about him! Just know he plays strictly man to man, and your defense is the weakest in the league with the Lions being the only exception! Tell me how the Browns are better then the Raiders? Talent wise there isn't a comparison. I like a few players on your offense like Winslow and Edwards, but after this year they won't be around! What do you have to get excited about? Eric Mangini and Rob Ryan? Unfortunately for you guys these guys don't play, becasue on your defense they probably could start.
