Colt sucks and he has a great future as a backup in the NFL. That said..should he get the start this weekend. He will light it up against the Raiders piss poor defense and start a fantastic QB controversy for the rest of the season.

Im not great at math...but we only have 3 wins. You are asking if 8-8 gives him next year beating Denver and Pissburgh twice (one of them is already counted in the 3) so that's 2 more wins which only makes 5. Where are the other 3 coming from?

I meant winning out. Beating Oakland kc Washington Denver and Pitt.

not sure they are really looking at a set number of wins. I think the decision has been made already

I feel that's the case as well but, Do you think winning out and beating Denver and pitt again would be hard to not to keep him that would be a 6 game winning streak

We aren't winning out so we don't have to worry about that. I think the playoffs are the only way Shurmur keeps his job with boss Jimmy in charge now.

The writing on the wall is there for Shurmur hes gone IMO, the only way he may even remotely have a chance is if he won out which isnt going to happen...I dont even know if we will beat Oakland or KC and thats sad...

IF that would occur would be hard not to give him another season.

I'd like to think Haslam has as much football smarts (if not more) as the average football fan. I'm sure Holmgren blew some serious smoke up Jimmy's ass on how great he thinks Patsy's potential is as a HC in the NFL. PS- so you might want to coach again? How about saying your hand picked HC is a dud, and taken over for the loser. Nah, way easier to just collect another fat paycheck, and ride off into the Arizona sunset on your Harley. Thanks for nothing Mikey because that's exactly what you gave us. .

IMO Shur-loss is already done. Worst case scenario in my mind is beating the Raiders, Chiefs, and Redskins followed up by close losses to the Broncos and Steelers. Makes the decision to can the bum slightly more difficult.

My take it's good talent overcoming lousy gameday coaching.

Shurmur should have been fired during the bye week..

This guys end game playcalling, clock management and decision making are horrendous and often momentum stopping and logic defying, the fact shurmur is still in cleveland doesnt give me any confidence that jim haslam and joe banner know what hell they are doing..

We have been rebuilding since 1964, Why stop now? GO BROWNS!

The fact that we only beat the Steelers by 6 points after forcing 8 turnovers should tell you all you need to know. The guy just isn't good enough as a head coach.

He has looked fired up the past two games, I have noticed too.

Tells me there is change coming from the top. Instead of his buddy Holmgren holding a coffee klatch every Monday and discussing how the team "battles" and how the hazlenut creamer is tasty, Truckstop Jimmy is looking at Banner going "What the fuck?" and Banner is looking at Shurmur going "What the fuck?" and Shurmur is looking at his players going "What the fuck?"

Holmgren coddled him too long and gave him the "no training camp" excuse last year even though other rookie coaches were in the playoffs.

Fat Fuck Holmgren took $40 Million of Lerner's money, hired his cronies and held no one accountable.

With Holmgren gone, Shurmur is probably getting his ass roasted by Banner.

As for Shurmur keeping his job, he has two huge strikes against him:

                          1. The 0-5 start was inexcusable, rookies or not. Looking back, we had Philly and Buffalo at home and those were very winnable games. Had we started 2-3 we would be in playoff contention.

                          2. The losses to Indianapolis and Dallas. He was CLEARLY outcoached in both games and turned wins into losses and Jimmy and Banner were there to watch every snap. Remember the awful 4th & 1 punt versus the Colts with the Ball in their territory and six minutes to go? Remember the 13-0 lead on the road against Dallas blown by not going going for the jugular and playing turtle on offense and prevent on defense?

I'd have to think he's hanging by a string and only 8-8 or 7-9 may save him. But it might even be too late for any save at all.

The good thing that came out of this whole thing is we have a competent GM in Tom Heckert.. If he didn't have holmgren in his ear to draft every QB under the sun he likes he would have a really good draft track record. I am enjoying Mack pinkston lauvao and Schwartz on the o line

Loving Hughes, Winn, sheard, Taylor, and Rucker from FA

JMJ and Robertson and fort are filling in well at LB depth.

Haden and ward are producing. Skrine is a decent nickel. Brown from FA has been serviceable while we wait for a compliment to Haden.

                              Weeden and McCoy are alright.

                              Richardson will produce.

Gordon and little and to some degree Benjamin. All producing.

Cameron looking good second half of the season.

Huge misses include marecic and possibly Robiski massoquai and hardesty. But I can't remember if Heckert was around for those players.

I feel confident that Shurmer will find a way to lose to either Oakland or KC, and win against Denver, Pitt or Wash. We'll go 5-11 and Shurmer will be long gone. It's obvious to me that Haslam dislikes the guy and can't stand the way he calls plays.

With two very winnable games coming up and the chance to sweep the Stoolers for the first time since 89?

Like it or not the job is Pats to lose right now.

IMHO, he's already lost it. Take a look at Mr. Offensive Genius' ranking compared to the rest of the coaches in the NFL, and tell me he deserves to stick around. In fact looking at his St Louis resume, he never should have been hired as a HC in the first place!

If he didn't have holmgren in his ear to draft every QB under the sun he likes he would have a really good draft track record. I am enjoying Mack pinkston lauvao and Schwartz on the o line

Robiskie and Massaquoi were not selections made by Tom Heckert I don't believe.

Shaun Lauvao and The Schwartz were.

As were Benjamin, Gordon, Little, Cameron, TR, Hardesty ( who might actually finally become a serviceable backup)

Also include Pinkston, Ryan Miller on the OL

And Hagg and Wade at DB

Brad Smelley is still on the practice squad...or is holding down special teams duties.

Emmanuel Acho has been on IR

Plus, look at the street FAs on this team: Fort, T. Gipson, Robertson

With better coaching this team with 9000 rookies could be pushing .500.

Marecic, Carlton Mitchell, Clifton Geathers and Larry Asante seem to be the only true busts on Heckerts resume to date....and only Marecic was higher than a 6th rounder.

Schwartz is playing very well lately, BTW. He looks like a Home Run.

Heckert has built solid lines on both sides of the ball.

We need a pass rusher and secondary help. We need for the young playmakers on offense to improve.

I hope Heckert gets to stay around to enjoy the fruits of his building the interiors.
