The Browns Board

  • I really want D. Moore but don't think he will be there at our pick, so I'm driving the Jonathan Banks bus!!!

  • Manti Te'o is a future Browns lb if he's even there when they draft.

He is everything you could ask for in a lb, on and off the field.

But drafting an OG, as much as I love the offensive line being upgraded.... in the high first round for the Browns?

    Dumb.

    http://www.drafttek.com/2013-nfl-mock-draft-round1.asp

  • The Browns run defense on the edge is still an issue which is why a good OLB is needed. That and a pass rush.

Kaluka Maiava is at best a backup. If we could get someone who is good at both of those...edge rushing defense and pass rush, that is the ticket.

Is Jones that guy? Could Teo be that guy...or is he strictly MLB? Mingo?

  • I'll be somewhat disappointed if the browns draft an OG 1st but if Heckert's doing the draft ill give him the benefit of the doubt

  • I am all for the Browns picking whoever they thing will bring the most value to the team in the long term. If it is an OG, so be it. I am not sure how everyone became so LB crazy. I still firmly believe that our biggest need is CB. Joe Haden is playing great and Sheldon Brown is balling, but Sheldon only has a couple of more years left and after him we are woefully thin. I also think DE is a bigger need than LB. Rucker and Parker are good stopgaps, but not long term solutions. To be honest, I would rather trade back a little and grab a boss TE then go LB at this point. Gocong is coming back and is better than he gets credit for (especially in run stopping) and JMJ looks to be a legit talent. Anyways, as far as the draft goes, for the time being the only thing that is more interesting to me than what we do with our first pick is who is going to be making the call in the war room. Heckert came out and tried to stake his claim with this team today. Hopefully the Brownies can get at least two more wins and back him up on the field.

  • I will agree if it is Heckert picking, do what you do because you have been doing it well. I hope he is around for a while

  • jones has a spinal issue, he could get paralyzed or die if he gets hit the wrong way

  • I believe Te'o can play any lb position...according to this guy on draftek.com.....

":LB Manti Te'o just won the prestigious Lombardi Award as the best lineman or linebacker in the nation. This Saturday night, Te'o has a very good chance of being the very first true defensive player to win the Heisman Trophy. Sure, Charles Woodson was an elite defensive player, but he was also used as a wide receiver and return specialist. Te'o's season can best be summed up here. Te'o, the Hawaiian Mormon, will lead a Catholic university's top scoring defense in the BCS National Championship Game. For those who believe that he's an ILB only, most analysts agree that he would also play at an All-Pro level at SOLB, or SAM LB. Te'o is a community activist whose leadership and character "intangibles" are off the charts. The Browns need for a pass rushing DE can be addressed in free agency, or in the third round. For this analyst, Manti Te'o is the closest thing to a "can't miss" prospect in the draft.

~Mike Sudds, DraftTek Browns Analyst "

Te'o make end up being the first consensus pick for the 1st round pick ever. (still plenty of time....)

  • Id say the only way we can justify taking a guard is with a trade down to recoup the sec:nd round pick. No doubt Lauvou needs replaced one way or another but there is no guard valuable enough to take top 15. I like Banks, Te'O, Jones, and Moore. Rambo or Simon in the 3rd

  • Are we now looking at Geno, Matt or Tyler Wilson with that first pick??? Weeden doesn't look like the future and GM/HC usually want their own guys

Did I just read that Sheldon Brown is balling?? He is a huge liability in coverage and is the reason why Haden is so important..Remember when Haden was out we went 0-5 thats why i feel CB is a bigger need than DE..But other than Dee Milliner i dont know who else i would take there where we should be drafting..I like the depth at DE in this Class so thats where i would probaly go in Round 1,D.Moore i like most but i do believe he will go top 5..

One bad game and all of a sudden he is terrible. OK. Have you not noticed how well he has been playing (with the exception of the Dallas game where Haden was out) since the bye? Browns fans have too short of a memory, especially when it comes to giving their own players a little bit of credit.

Why are we Linebacker crazy? Let me count the ways: 1. Because OLB is the weakest position on the team. JMJ is the only real prospect it seems. I don't believe Gocong will be back, and even if he is, he ain't very good. Maiava is at best a backup. And Robertson is come see come saw....or however it is spelled.

Hell no. We already have Matt Barkley on the roster....i.e. Colt McCoy...ecept McCoy is better. Weeden is the QB. The Browns should be going defense with at least their first two picks. LB and either CB or FS.

Barkley does remind me of Colt. Noodle arm anyone?

    Doesn't change what I said.

  • Here are some guys on my radar, so far

Dee Milliner - This would be a GREAT pick, stop the Buster Skrine targeting.

Damontre Moore - Pass rush, nuff said.

    Barkevious Mingo - ^^

Keenan Allen - Gordon, Allen, Little great receiving group.

Eric Reid/ Matt Elam - Someone downfield to help the pass defense.

Chance Warmack - Someone to help Trent

I would love to see the browns trade down, actually.

I think trading down makes alot of sense. We could trade down from 5-7 to 15-20, recoup our 2nd rounder and add a 4th-6th rounder. Which means we could grab Warmack, Eric Reid or Rambo in the 2nd, and a Brandon Jenkins/John Simon/Tank Carradine in the 3rd. I believe if we're active in FA this year and bring in a CB and a FB were playoff bound!

  • ^^^ yeah boy! nobody at the top of the draft that really sticks out, might as well patch some of the many holes on this swiss cheese defense
