Browns Surprisingly Cut Ties With Db Patterson
-
The Cleveland Browns today waived defensive back Dimitri Patterson.
Patterson, who joined the club as an unrestricted free agent in 2011, appeared in seven contests this season with four starts. He totaled 28 tackles and broke up five passes

Well there's 6 million guaranteed down the drain

Oh well... Didn't he drop the winning InT vs the eagles

No that was L.J Fort I believe.
This is a Banner move no doubt, get used to it.

no that was number 53 Robertson, rookie LB. He had a great game that game, too--since then he's been a dud.

why isn't this BUsta Skrine? He cost us atleast 1 game if not 3
-
Patterson more than likely stood up at in meeting today and told Shurmer he he the worse coach he ever played for...LOL

GOOD FOR HIM

Patterson missed around 7 weeks with an effing sprained ankle while RG3 was warming up a week after having his knee bent the wrong direction. Guy is not a team player and Skrine has stepped up and proven to be a comparable or better player with a better attitude for less money.

I wouldn't describe him as a dude because that was the only game that injuries from other players aloud him playing time. Fujita, Maiva, and Johnson were all injured week 1. He played a great game week one and has done well on special teams since then. You can't blame the guy for not being played when he has shown to us thus far that he can play when put in.

Skrine seemed to play well against the skins. You know a DB is playing well when you don't hear his name, and I don't recall hearing much mention of him.

Open up like 4 million in cap room. I hope this means we are targeting some big-time FAs. I'm hoping for Dwayne Bowe.

I heard an interview with Patterson last year, he couldn't have sounded any less interested in the city of Cleveland or the Browns for that matter.

Also, this move may be a hint that they are truly serious about going after a CB with their first draft pick.

Thats a bit of a stretch. We dont even know where we are picking and who is even declaring for the draft. They are not planning this far in advance for that. Im sure they are aware that we will eventually need another starting CB to compete though. I obviously dont know what is going on behind the scenes, but if I had to guess this decision was made by Banner for financial purposes or he was a locker room cancer or a bit of both. This is likely a sign that Heckert wont be back next year or at least will have a diminished role. I think thats unfortunate. In my very amateur opinion, I like Heckert way more than Lombardi.
