The Browns Board

  • Romeo will run the defense, Juliet can be the new GM and the team will be coached by a man with a vagina. Throw in a worn out soldier a gay Qb from a cathlic school and the cute little elf mascot and we have a brand new beginnig.

  • Just announced on NFL total access....said in some capacity, didn't state what capacity! Getting his hip done(surg) after that will be back with Browns

He may stay as a special assistant to the HC. Not even a position coach.

  • Based on some of the stories that surfaced about Savage and how he was actively trying to get Romeo fired, and that Romeo NEVER threw Savage under the bus, it seems that Romeo really is a first-rate human being.

And the fact that he was close to Mangini and Mangini wants him around does speak to Mangini's confidence in himself. If he thought for a second that Romeo was some sort of threat he wouldn't keep him around and a lesser HC would feel threatened.

Plus, Romeo knows everything there is to know about the guys. He's a wealth of info in that regard. Nothing but positives.

The only way it COULD become negative is if Mangini wasn't strong enough of a personality to let guys know he's in charge. I don't think that will happen.

  • I think it is an outstanding move. Anytime a class individual lke RAC actually wants to stay, and all the players like him, why not bring this man back?

Some of you just like to bitch.

  • Mangini started his career as a Browns ball boy why can't Romeo end his as one ?

How do you like your coffee Coach Mangini ?

Some of us think it's WEIRD to bring back the HC you just fired and question its viability in the locker room, with gameplanning and regarding existing player/coach relationships and loyalties.

Some of us just like to pretend our opinion is the only one that matters.

Sorry voicing my opinion came of as "bitching," El Jefe. We will do better...

  • I refuse to believe this until I see proof. There's no way Romeo stays in Cleveland if I have anything to say about it :::pumps shotgun:::

  • Romeo is the new laundry guy. make that fat ass work for his money! Everyone knows that he sure didnt earn it the past 4 years! that fat ass won the lottery.

  • Hip Hip Horay!

Browns still making bad decisions even after blowing up the team.

What GM wants to be associated with these bozos?

    Matt Millen is still available.

They'd better move quickly though - like Mangini and his assistant coaches its the guys who no one else is interested in interviewing that they think are the most in demand.

Just kidding - I like RAC - you guys are right to knock on him as a Head Coach - there's lots of excellent coordinators and assistant coaches out there who just aren't cut out to be head coaches. Looks like RAC was one of them.

  • Was it Lombardi that someone saw on NFL Total Access?

If so I think this is still speculation rather than an actual report - but stranger things have happened. Heck - I wouldn't blink if Lerner and Mangini announced that Butch Davis is coming back.

  • My biggest concern about keeping Romeo is his views on Andra Davis. He had Davis as a Leader on this team ... I want that title chopped down more-so than Romeo's. Nothing worst than hearing of a locker room riff such as players quitting and the player spoksman to address the issue is Davis as if he's above it all.

Hope Romeo has the balls to cut some of these perceived 'good ties'.

Other than that, I welcome the guy.

BTW, I thought these Steelers fans saidthey only respond to posts here directed at them or defending their team? Doh!

  • I just repeated what I heard on the NFL network....don't care if you believe it or not...it is what they said!

  • LMAO at the sheer genius of Randy Lerner.

Your opinion almost always comes off as bitching.

Class move keeping Romeo. A great man, and a pretty damned good d coordinator. Most of you bashers sound like real dickheads. 🙄

Romeo is a class individual, I am glad he is staying in the organization.

    Zombo

I agree, Zombo. Says a lot about Lerner, Mangini, and Crennel.

Lerner Sr. was also kind to recently-fired coaches. Some might remember that he gave Chris Palmer a $1M 'bonus' (of course, in addition to what was left on his contract) because Lerner felt that Palmer never really had a chance, given all the circumstances.

I believe Crennel is the type of person that will know where the very fine lines are and will respect them 100%.

  • I was about to say that Lerner should get some of the props as well.

This really shows just how much Lerner doesn't like Phil Savage...this is totally punking Phil and letting Phil know he holds him 95% responsible for the debacle.

  • I think if this pans out than it says even more about Phil Savage.

The players seem to love RAC but couldn't win for him?

It just doesn't make sense. RAC will get paid no matter what unless he agrees to a new role, his salary will be modified i hope.

I always hope they know more than i do but like another poster stated, its never been done before.

  • ballpeen you beat my post by a few seconds 😆

  • Us hammers think alike. 😁

    Phil did everything wrong.

He went on a power play and saw to it Collins was run out of town...and Collins was a friend of Lerner....I know Lerner kept that in his mind, and savage went on this kick to be the face of the team.

Then Savage extended Romeo when Lerner probably didn't want to do that.....then through that extension, it helped him get his...the talk being how can the GM have less time than the coach?

That tied Savage to Romeo...then when things started going wrong, the "face" was no longer seen, saying things like if I did that, I might as well go coach the team. If he is saying things like that to the press, you know he was throwing Romeo under the bus in private conversations with Lerner, trying to weasel as far away from Romeo as he could.

Nope...Lerner enjoyed canning Savage about 2 minutes after the season was over, and enjoys keeping Romeo to continue to stick it to Phil....and reward Romeo who though not a head coach, stood strong the last 4-5 weeks, faced the press, stood up to the fan pressure and just did the best he could in the face of some pretty tough conditions.....it's hard to work when you know your boss(Savage) is selling you out at every turn.

Yep...Savage was a weasel, who worked himself into a corner only to have Lerner chop his head off.

  • get ready for a divided locker room.
