Is it that Cowher house?

If the Browns are just trying to sign a "salary cap expert" then why in the hell is this proven football idiot scouting FA's for the Browns.

Well we shall see, remember that Hate did predict Kelly...
Maybe it's going to be Gamble.

From what I've heard, Kelly is going to run the show a la Reid's deal in KC. Last say on all FA acquisitions as well as in the draft.
Which would then essentially make our GM just a figurehead. If that's the case, I wouldn't be opposed to Lombardi. As long as he wields no direct power over the roster, I'm okay with that.

Not if he wants Kelly. They are going in telling him he can have as much power as he wants, he will have it written into his contract what he can and cannot do. If he get gets the power of final say on player personnel then Banner can't do shit about it short of firing Kelly. Banner is essentially giving up the power he wanted when he came into Cleveland in order to find the team a coach we can win with. I applaud him for it for two reasons. He is willing to do what is necessary to get us a highly sought after coach, and I won't have to watch someone with ZERO experience with talent evaluation try to run a draft and FA.
Any while people say they would be fine with Lombardi in a lesser GM role where he has no final say over player pickup, I am not happy with him at all in regards to evaluating players. He is a shit talent evaluator and he will only cause harm to the franchise by giving his opinion one who we should sign or draft.

Apparently you got some kind of inside scoop , Grossi and Mary Kay should be getting their info from you.
Banner and Haslam have said they're willing to give that kind of power to the coach if he's worthy of it.
What I get from that is they're selling the possibility, not the guarantee.
They'd be stupid to give that kind of power to an unproven guy.

"And as @JayGlazer reported, Panthers and Browns have requested permission to interview Minnesota's George Paton for their GM jobs."
Looks like Lombardi won't be GM. It may however be more scary if he is head of pro personnel or or scouting.
-
Also interviewing Gamble from San Fran. Would like to have that guy. They drafted well for years and finally put it all together when they got Harbaugh.

It has been consistently reported by multiple sources that they would give Kelly these powers. I have no stupid inside scoop. Just because you don't like what is being reported does not mean it isn't happening and you can choose the ignore it. Besides who do you want making the player personnel decisions? The guy who has been doing great recruiting in the NCAA, the president with ZERO experience evaluating players, or Lombardi who is a proven idiot when it comes to evaluating talent?

I haven't heard it mentioned once that they planned to give Kelly that kind of control, nor that Kelly is demanding it.
I have however heard Banner say that he's open to the possibility if the HC is capable of it, but that it's not automatically coming with the job.
