OK fellows, it doesn't seem we have much of a consensus anywhere else.

Still everyone claims to be in favor of stringent background checks!

    Great.

I'm curious as to exactly which factors you guys think would be worthy to preclude someone from purchasing a weapon.

Any felony? Any violent misdemeanor? Any mental health diagnosis? History of prescribed antidepressant?

What would be your criterion and would you be in favor of amending the HIPA statutes for allowing those to be accessed?

        Sure, why the hell not?

Even if someone thinks those laws need to be refined, great, but enforce them while you write a replacement.

But mostly I'm wondering what issues you guys would find serious enough to prevent sellung someone a gun.

Felons are already forbidden to purchase weapons. Some misdemeanors (domestic violence) are also. So those are already laws in effect. I think history of a prescribed antidepressant would be pushing it. You have active duty military who receive them for a limited time. I would say that any history of a delusional psychiatric illness (serious BIPOLAR, Schizophrenia, personality disorder, etc.) would qualify. I would leave it up to the psychiatrist to make the determination to the Gun police.

How about a medical consent/consult? "Do you, the prescribing MD (psychiatrist) feel Mr. John Doe is responsible/mentally competent to own a firearm??"

I get consults from cardiologists all the time (because the guide is constantly changing) over whether or not to prescribe antibiotic pre-meds for patients undergoing any procedure ranging from deep cleanings to extraction/alveolplasty to minimize their risk for infective endocarditis. I'm responsible for an infection of heart valves (studies show a link between bacteria in the oral cavity and bacteria that colonize heart valves) if I dont premedicate and the patient gets I.E. Them's the breaks

The way the Obamao regime is approaching it, a lot of folks on the borderline, will not seek any kind of advice from their

doctors anymore. They won't take the chance.

Say, why not ban the mentally diagnosed from voting? They apparently are just as irresponsible with guns as they are with voting....

Oh yeah, Obamao wouldn't have won the first time.....😡

How about background checks for voter rights or a drivers licence???

Make them all the same....I would be good with that.

If everybody had like minds, we would never learn.

An IQ test SHOULD be part of getting your driver's license. I drive for a living and I see the some of the dumbest people behind the wheel. That NEEDS to change
