Kevin Costner Is New Browns Gm

Though Mike Lombardi is officially the Cleveland Browns’ general manager in reality, Kevin Costner is going to be running the team in a new movie called “Draft Day.”
The story initially called for Costner to be the Buffalo Bills’ general manager, but thanks to Cleveland’s excellent incentives offered to filmmakers (it will save the movie about $3.5 million by moving the production to Ohio), the film will be shot in Cleveland and Costner’s character will be with the Browns, trading for the No. 1 overall pick on – you guessed it – draft day.
According to BuffaloNews.com, Costner’s character will be “trying to restore his team to past glory,” which is a monumental, seemingly impossible task for the actual front office of the Browns.
But this is a movie, and one should assume a move like this won’t blow up in Costner’s face. Or maybe it will. After all, this is the Browns we’re talking about.

Will it be The Fortune Cookie part deux?

Kevin Costner is a great actor and I think he'll play the GM of the Browns and put up an Oscar Worthy performance! The Lord knows he'll have plenty of inspiration and referance to draw from!

This is my new can't miss movie to watch. Draft Day huh? I like it and in Cleveland "we live it", What's more exciting for Cleveland than the draft. Costner breaks the Curse.
Kevin, Kevin, he's our man, if Hillis can't break the curse- Costner CAN!

Poetic you are one crazy bastard, but your shit does get funny. This should be an awesome flick

I'm hoping it has an outcome like Major League did with the Indians. I know there is no real connection with the move and them going to the World Series, but one can dream with this movie bringing good luck to the Browns.

I hope Kevin Costner is paying attention right now and taking notes. It's crazy how many rumors and unknowns are swirling around reguarding the Cleveland Browns right now. This is a big day for us, tonight we may just turn the corner! Good luck Joe Banner, I'm starting to like you; don't mess it up.

I don't think it has been posted on here yet, but other names have been linked to the movie.
Denis Lear, who most know from his good stand up specials and his lead role in the show Rescue Me, got the part as the Browns head coach. Arian Foster also snagged a spot as an unidentified player. They haven't said if he is going to take the part as a current player for the Browns or if he is going to be a draft prospect.

Bah! There's probably going to be only one good scene in the at the beginning of the movie, when the toothless Pittsburgh Steelers lay a crushing 62-0 pounding on the dawg pound with shots of a dejected crowd leaving the stadium. It'll go downhill from the moment Costner says, we'll never be beaten again...not by those <insert obsenity ladened Steeler retorts here>. Or wait, maybe they'll show James Harrison knocking out the Cleveland fan on the field again...that was a classic. Of course that will have to be avenged in a movie...you just can't let Harrison have that kind of happy moment in a Browns film. I know, Costner can shoot up some roids and kick Harrisons behind in the locker room hallway during half-time of the AFC Championship game. The movie just won't resonate unless Cleveland beats Pittsburgh, in Pittsburgh during the AFC Championship game and you see Steelers fans crying behind the cheering Browns...ah I'm sure everyone will find that to be such a nice fantasy.

Anyone know when this movie is coming out?

Why would anyone give a shit about a now washed up Cincinnati Bengal player?

"YOU WANT THE TRUTH? YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!!
fade to black.
wonder if it will be a take on the draft room from the past or something set in the future? costner looks nothing like pioli nor heckert or lombardi (except for the hair plugs).
gotta be set for something in the future where his character might actually do something right. if not it'll be a sad ending sorta like 'ol yella'.

Maybe it will be like Moneyball and base on a true story. In the end, Costner gets canned, just like every other Browns GM has since who? Ernie Accorsi?

....... in other news.. Puff Daddy is playing an agent in the Browns movie.

I'd say the incident is more important. Generally, Hollywood likes to portray a "good guy" and a "bad guy." Unless they are using fictitious football teams, the NFL won't want any particular team being portrayed in too negative a light. So they would have to draw upon some past incidents to present a negative vibe for the Browns opposition. The Steelers are the most likely to be portrayed as enemies, but the Broncos or Ravens could be used. Cleveland really doesn't get that worked up that Baltimore stole their team and it's probably harder to portray the Broncos in a negative light than Pittsburgh. Also, because of Jack Lambert they can give all Steelers that toothless hockey player look.

I suspect that it will be character driven....and esoteric, so there won't be any portrayal much about other teams. There will just be internal demons for Costner to joust with.
