Cleveland Browns Hire Ray Farmer As Assistant Gm
-
Keith, sadly I think you may have a point there. *sigh*
-
I liked Farmer as a GM candidate. The more good people we get, the better. I'm not listening to the Banner and Lombardi hate. All I see is the perception of a really solid front office. We will see if that still holds true after a few weeks of football in September.

Maybe Haslam & Banner have just realised how much Lombardi is going to suck and got someone else in quickly so the Draft doesnt go tits up.
-
At least he played the game. Seeing the success of Ozzie Newsome, I wonder why more teams don't bring ex-players into personnel.

I don't think Lombardi is going to suck as much as most of you think. I used to listen to him a lot on all the different podcasts he was on and thought he had some good insights and was right about most players.
I hope I'm right anyways...

Too be honest Mark, I cant really comment on him as I have never paid much attention to things he has said and done, just playing along with the consensus from others feelings, hopefully with the all round team we have put together they will get it right and we will have a team worthy of the support we always give them.

And the others feelings are mostly based off his track record as a GM which is less than stellar to be honest. I have just heard him for the last couple years in a lot of interviews and he seems to have a pretty good handle on the talent in the league and on teams strengths and weakenesses. Maybe some time off working for one team has helped him so that he will be fantastic now that he's back in a NFL front office.
At least thats what I hope. Then again...I thought the hiring of Holmgren was a good idea as well. So what the hell do I know.

But how much of the info was he given by teams/scouts since he was working for the league run network??? This lombardi/banner combo has fail written all over it

Like mark said, I feel positive about Farmer, but I also thought that Holmgren would put the team on track as well....

Also with more CFL guys on the staff we will be sitting pretty when the NFL goes to 3 downs!
