Out Of The Picture

Other developments of potential interest to Browns fans:
TE Darren Fells Seahawks resigned, off the market
TE Mike Causinn Bills signed, off the market
TE Dorin Dickerson Bills, tender offered, apparently off the market.
DE Keyunta Dawson Titans signed, off the market
DB Bryant Scott Bills resigned off the market
LB Takeo Spikes Chargers released....now ON the market
Any interest in Spikes who once was good?
Spikes retired.
Edit that shawn merriman retired.
Maybe spikes should consider it

Well, did he or didn't he. I knew that Merriman did.

I know that there has been discussions about possibly picking up some of the following players, but recent events have taken them out of the picture for the Browns:
QB Joe Flacco, signed a long term deal with Ravens
CB William Gay, signed by the Steelers
CB Jarius Byrd, Franchised by the Bills
DE Michael Johnson, Franchised by the Bengals
WR Dwayne Bowe resigned by the Chiefs
OLB Anthony Spencer, franchised by the Cowboys.
I know that last one was the guy many had their eyes on for coming to the Browns...but, alas, he will not be available. Here is a link to the status of current FAs.
It is my underestanding that official talks with these guys can be held as soon as tomorrow and that signings can begin as soon as Tuesday:

QB Matt Moore and WR Brian Hartline have re-signed with Miami

That might put DA in the driver's seat for the re-tread we bring in.

Gip change your tampon, i had the two momentarily mixed up and went back and edited my post. I didnt see it to be that confusing. So in case your still unsure spikes did not retire. And i dont think he is worth looking at..

Here is how i think it may play out.
If we are able to fill enough holes with FA we will go edge rusher 1st round and Qb 3rd round.
Or FA qb and fill holes with draft.
Not big on either of those because there is still some good value in the 3rd round to continue to fill needs on either side -vs- a project qb.

like I said before, the biggest question at QB this year is how Weedz is gonna handle giving DA the #3 jersey.

Well, the report was that he was cut by his current team. I had not heard whether or not that was by his request because he intended to retire him, or if the Chargers just wanted to dump him.
And, fair enough, you say even if he were available he wouldn't be worth taking a look at. So be it. I assume the B/L/F team agrees with you? (Banner/Lombardi/Farmer)

Does that pave the way for your paramour?

Moore and Hartline both resigned with the Dolphins.
Jason Campbell, Brady Quinn, Brian Hoyer, Drew Stanton, David Garrard, Chase Daniel are the only FA QB's this year. Oh, and JaMarcus Russell and Vince Young. Why bother picking from that pool of fail?

You forgot Derek Anderson. Or do you not even rank him in your pool of fail?
Maybe we could bring back both DA and BQ and put them in competition with Colt and BW3. Would that be satisfactory to all?
And then have Thaddeus Lewis emerge as the starter

I would hope so!
If not, we should seriously start second guessing everything.

As reported elsewhere:
QB Matt Moore Miami signed, out of the picture
WR Brian Hartline Miami, signed, out of the picture
S Adrian Wilson, Arizona, released, in the picture
CB Chris Gamble, Carolina, released, in the picture
Does Gamble bring anything more than say Sheldon Brown does at this point?
