Apparently there are a number of new patrons on this board. Here is some trivia for anyone to try to answer. Remember, this is the honor system. Answer what you can from your memory. If you don't know, its OK. Give others a chance to guess:

    1. Brandon Weeden threw for 3385 yards last year. Where does that rank him in Browns history for most yards thrown for in a season?

    2. Bernie Kosar--1986 and Brian Sipe--1979 share the Browns single season record for most 4th Quarter comebacks in a year with 5 each. Sitting at th 3rd and 4th position with 4 Fourth Quarter comebacks is another QB, not Sipe or BK. Who is that QB?

    3. The youngest person ever to throw a pass in a Cleveland Browns uniform was only 21 years old. Who was that player? Hint: it was not a QB.

    4. The oldest person ever to throw a pass in a Cleveland Browns uniform was 42 years old. Who was that player? Hint: it was not a QB.

    5. The oldest QB to ever throw a pass for the Browns was 38 years old. Who was that QB?

    6. Who are the 2 RBs who, at 34 years old, are the oldest RBs to ever carry the ball for the Browns?

    7. Who was the oldest player--at age 35--to ever catch a pass in a Browns uniform? Hint: he WAS a WR.

    8. There have been 2 players who at age 35 are the oldest ever to score a Touchdown in a Browns uniform. One of them is the man who is the answer to Q#7. Who was the other? Hint: he was not an offensive player.

    9. Who is the Browns career leader in sacks? (since they began keeping records)

    10. Name the 5 Browns RBs that were the regular starting RB for the Browns for at least one season that have averaged over 60 yards or more per game in their career for the Browns.

    11. In which year did the Browns make the fewest draft picks?

    12. What was the last season in which the Browns averaged scoring 10 or more points per game than they gave up.

Off the top of my head, and ignoring answers that have been responded to.......

    2. Tim Couch

    3. Eric Metcalf

    6. Calvin Hill is probably one.

    9. Michael Dean Perry or Chip Banks

    10. Jim Brown, Leroy Kelly, Mike Pruitt, Peyton Hillis, Ernie Green

  • Im not going to really answer any Question but , I remember watching Don strocks ,white hair he looked like an old man that day .

Now lou groza was the oldest brown ever to play witch would make sense .

I suppose a lot of new guys ended up here because of the Yahoo board closings . I was over there as long as I can remember . So calling guys newbies to the football chat seen is kind of sophomoric.

I prefer the term disenfranchised message board dweller . By the way Im Joe , Hope this can be my new home .

Since nearly every question has been correctly answered I will give the full final answers:

    1. Brandon Weeden threw for 3385 yards last year. Where does that rank him in Browns history for most yards thrown for in a season?

Weeden's 3385 yards in 2012 ranks 10th. Ahead of him were: Brian Sipe had 4 years with more yards, Bernie Kosar had 3 years with more; Derek Anderson one year, and Paul McDonald one year.

FYI, Brian Sipe's 1980 season is still the only season a Browns QB has gone over 4000 yards.

Mike Phipps...of all people, had 4 4th Quarter comeback wins for the Browns in both 1972 and 1973. Who would have thought of Mike Phipps as a late game clutch QB.

    3. The youngest person ever to throw a pass in a Cleveland Browns uniform was only 21 years old. Who was that player? Hint: it was not a QB.

It was Eric Metcalf at age 21.

    4. The oldest person ever to throw a pass in a Cleveland Browns uniform was 42 years old. Who was that player? Hint: it was not a QB.

    It was Lou Groza

    5. The oldest QB to ever throw a pass for the Browns was 38 years old. Who was that QB?

    Don Strock

    6. Who are the 2 RBs who, at 34 years old, are the oldest RBs to ever carry the ball for the Browns?

Calvin Hill was one in 1981. James Brooks in 1992 was the other.

    7. Who was the oldest player--at age 35--to ever catch a pass in a Browns uniform? Hint: he WAS a WR.

    Paul Warfield in 1977

    8. There have been 2 players who at age 35 are the oldest ever to score a Touchdown in a Browns uniform. One of them is the man who is the answer to Q#7. Who was the other? Hint: he was not an offensive player.

Paul Warfield ....and DB Erich Barnes at age 35 took an interception return back for a TD.

    9. Who is the Browns career leader in sacks? (since they began keeping records)

    Clay Matthews with 62.

    10. Name the 5 Browns RBs that were the regular starting RB for the Browns for at least one season that have averaged over 60 yards or more per game in their career for the Browns.

    Jim Brown 104.3 ypg

    Jamal Lewis 70.2

    Peyton Hillis 67.8

    Reuben Droughns 66.3

Trent Richardson 63.3 (and hopefully more as time goes by)

FYI, here are some of the career ypg averages for some other Browns RBs: Leroy Kelly 53.3, Mike Pruitt 52.7, Kevin Mack 51.7, Marion Motley 47.6, Greg Pruitt 46.6.

Also note: there was a guy named Larry Mason who averaged over 60 ypg for his Browns career...but his Browns career consisted of a total of 6 games and 3 starts...so I didn't include him.

    11. In which year did the Browns make the fewest draft picks?

2008, they only had 5 picks: starting with 4th rounder Beau Bell, plus Martin Rucker, Aytahba Rubin, Paul Hubbard, and Alex Hall. Obviously one quality pick there.

In 3 other years they only had 6 picks: 1994/1995/2004. Of course, prior to the early 90s there were as many as 12 rounds....and more. In the 50s there were like 20 rounds, so more players were drafted.

    12. What was the last season in which the Browns averaged scoring 10 or more points per game more than they gave up.

1987. The Browns scored on average 10.1 more points per game than they gave up.
