Thanks, Rooster Dick, we will take that under advisement.

  • Weeden sucks... we should have drafted Mitchell Gale from Abilene Christian in the 1st round...

And, signed JaMarcus Russell to be his backup and/or play LT...

    Bring Kosar in to coach!!

    This team sucks

How about Dorothy Gale from Abilene Kansas? And she could have brought in Oscar Zoaraster to coach, Frayeur Corneille to play QB, Zinn Mensch at Left Tackle and Leon Cobarde at RB.

  • Yes, it's far too early to have any sensible predictions. But how about a bit of fun?

We all have last year's figures burnt in to memory I'm sure, but just in case:

    3385 yds

    14 TD

    17 INT

    57.4% completion

New offensive system, new go-to guy in Bess, QB guru in Turner, innovative play calling with Turner and Chud, a supposedly healthy Richardson - all better than last year. So how good can he be? What would be progress?

If we're fortunate with injuries and drops, you could probably imagine something like

    3900 yds

    19 TD

    14 INT

    63% completion

There's also a special bonus prize for the first "Weeden sucks, we should have taken X qb from Y college in the draft, this team blows" type comment - let's have some FUN 😁

I'd say 3750 yards with 20 TDs and 15 INTs.

I think it's hard to tell how Weeden will do. Over the past few decades, I remember an awful lot of QBs who looked horrid their rookie season and improved a lot in year 2. To help Weeden, I just wish this so-called "better" management group had worked harder earlier in free agency to get a TE who could catch and make that position a threat against defenses As it stands now, the Browns have almost nothing of consequence at TE in an offense that's supposed to feature a lot of TE, so teamswill be able to apply their best efforts elsewhere.

It looks like the front office might actually have some confidence in Jordan Cameron. As for the backups I'm not too sure. But if they didn't like Cameron, they would have nabbed a better tight end or drafted one.

  • Anyone read the article on Weeden's stats when the Browns ran sets playing to his strengths? It was like a 70% completion percentage.

It'll be nice to have coaches who tailor to the players strengths instead of forcing them into a shitty dated version of an offense.

I haven't seen a dumb bastard (shurmer) try running up the gut constantly with no success in a long time

Weeden will do great with turner and I believe we'll be seeing a lot of shotgun for the kid, I mean old man

You mean when playing out of shotgun and attempting passes more than like 5 yards? You'd think that when you draft a guy that's put up such good college numbers, playing out of shotgun and throwing deep to Blackmon, you'd try to incorporate that kind of thing in to your offense. Or not pick the guy to start with. Fingers crossed, hoping for a big improvement this year, if only in terms of production because we're playing a system he's comfortable in.

(FYI, Oscar Zoaraster was the name of The Wizard of Oz. Frayeur is French for Scare Crow, Zinn Mensch is German for Tin Man, and Leon Cobarde is Spanish for Lion Coward.)

Weeden also had a 100% completion rate on passes that were completed.

In all seriousness, though, it's nice to finally have our quarterback's strengths align with our coach's philosophy. I think Weeden can theoretically have a strong year.

I still wouldn't have minded a late round QB.

  • I'm going to use math to get a decent profile of what we can expect (Averaging Philip Rivers' and Cam Newton's past two seasons [we can hope, at least Weeden has the arm]):

    323 Completions

    528 Attempts

    61%

    4,050 Yards

    23 TD's

    16 Int

    And just for fun:

    Gordon - 73 Rec, 1,100 yards, 6 TD's

    Little - 58 Rec, 725 yards, 3 TD's

    Cameron - 50 Rec, 600 yards, 4 TD's

    Bess - 58 Rec, 600 yards, 2 TD's

    Richardson - 37 Rec, 350 yards, 2 TD's

    Benjamin - 17 Rec, 300, 3 TD's

    Davis/Barnidge - 12 Rec, 150 yards, 2 TD's

    Nelson - 8 Rec, 125, 1 TD

    Hardesty/Lewis - 10 Rec, 100 yards

The statistical projection for Weeden actually seems plausible with these two coaches who will play to his strengths.

If those are purely receiving TD's, your math is a little off...

  • As I said in another thread, with Norv and Chud working with him and running an

offense that is playing to his strengths and actually trying to score points,

Weeden HAS to be better. Doesn't he?

it must suck as a QB to have your younger brother be your new OC.

but yes, he has to be better, and if he's not, sayanora amigo.
