Nfl Network Names Browns "most Snakebitten Team"
-
It's official!
The NFL Network has a new hour long special on this week called the NFL's 10 most snakebitten teams and, of course, we won going away. "These are the franchises that seem to have a dark cloud hanging over them," said the voiceover.
The amazing thing to me is that a guy associated with all this snakebiting, Brian Sipe of Red Right 88 fame, has a link to McFadden, the new CB! It's like one generation of snakebiters passing along the torch to a next generation. Then there's Mike Lombardi who hands off to himself. He began with Craig Powell and Tommy Vardell and now he returns to trade away two respectable draft choices, including a trade with our most hated rival -- giving them a quality safety who may haunt us for years. Then in the same draft he spurns a great trade opportunity with the Rams, and takes a guy in the first round built more for beach volleyball than playing professional football. Meanwhile, all of our AFC North rivals load up on dratt picks that add even more distance between them and the Browns in talent.
Next we'll add Ernest Byner as RB coach and Banner/Lombardi will add Marty Schottenheimer as an advisor to the team.

Well at least we got recognized for something. ESPN Classic runs "The Drive" game annually to torture us, usually starting in November- it seems it's on a 24 hour loop schedule.
I put the Raiders up there too amongst snakebitten teams, although they've won some Super Bowls.
Earnest Byner was awesome though, don't rip on him. The game known as "The Fumble" he was truly amazing, helping us rally back from a 21-3 deficit.

That was then, this is now.
But, FYI, ESPN is doing one of those 30/30 movies on Cleveland sports fans. Those are usually always well made. But it won't be done and released until next year sometime.

Raiders were on the snakebitten top 10 list. Bills at 10, surprised they weren't higher.
You are right, Byner was a great player. I hope Richardson can be as good.

I wonder if they'll time it to coincide with release of "Draft Day." From what I read, it looks like Frank Langella plays the Browns owner (that's appropriate!), comedian Dennis Leary the Browns' coach (that's about right) and Kevin Costnerplays the GM.
