Yes, the 2013 HOF class is chosen, but not yet inducted, nevertheless, I wonder about next year's class.

Here is what is supposed to be the cream of the crop of the first time eligibles:

    Derrick Brooks

    Walter Jones

    Kurt Warner

    Will Shields

    Tony Dungy, coach

The following were finalists last year who didn't make it. (I include the number of years they have been on the finals list):

    Michael Strahan 1

    Kevin Greene 2

    Jerome Bettis 3

    Andre Reed 7

    Tim Brown 4

    Charles Haley 4

    Aeneas Williams 2

    Ed DeBartolo 1, contributor

    Art Modell 2, contributor

The following are semifinalists from last year that did not make the finals cut:

    Steve Atwater

    Morten Anderson

    Don Coryell, coach

    Roger Craig

    Terrell Davis

    Joe Jacoby

    Albert Lewis

    John Lynch

    Karl Mecklenberg

    Paul Tagliabue, contributor

    Steve Tasker, contributor

    George Young

Choose 5 of these as your choice to make the HOF.

Haley, Warner, Brooks, Jacoby, Reed. If I could add a 6th it would be John Lynch. The fact that Charles Haley is not yet in the HOF is a joke. He was a great dominating player who won Super Bowls.

That is a pretty weak cream of the crop for 2014 so some of the more deserving players should get in from prevoius years. Off the list from previous years I believe Aeneas Williams would be my top choice. He was amazing just ask Steve Young about how he could hit, and his coverage skills were second to none. Just because you play on a crap team doesn't mean you shouldn't make the HOF. I will make the same case for JT when he retires. I would also add Brooks, Strahan, Anderson and Haley. I love Kurt Warner as a player and from what I can tell as a person but he is not first ballot HOF material IMO. And Will Shields and Tony Dungy no way!!! I wouldn't be upset to see John Lynch get inducted.

Stunning assessment! In my view Charles Haley was a great, dominating player for several SB title teams. Brooks is one of the best LBs of the modern era and Warner one of the QB greats. Jacoby was tremendous and I left off Michael Strahan, who will likely eventually get in, one of the great all-time sack leaders. Will Shields was a fab OL. Actually tough decisions, not easy ones.

My personal thinking is that the 5 that are likely to make it are Derrick Brooks, Michael Strahan, Jerome Bettis, Tim Brown, and Aeneas Williams.

I think Warner deserves in some day, but I don't think the writers will think he he first ballot material.

Dungy, to me is overrated, primarily because he is Af-Am...but also because he is a nice guy. Sure, he won one title as a HC....if that is the only requirement then Blanton Collier should be in, George Seifert won 2 and he should be in. Tom Flores won 2, so shouldn't he be in (and he was Hispanic), Jimmy Johnson won 2, should he be in, Dick Vermeil won one and lost one with different teams, how about Mike Holmgren...he coached 2 different teams to the SB, John Gruden, Brian Billick, Bill Cowher....all those guys are as qualified as Dungy.
